At that moment, a man with a bright red face appeared in Sunday Serenity headband shouted at her, "It's over!"
She was caught red-handed as soon as she entered the school gate.
No, that's impossible. I'm a ghost. How could a ghost be discovered so easily?
This is a devastating blow to the scientists who are trying to prove the existence of ghost, and equally heartbreaking for the reckless teenagers who long to encounter paranormal phenomenon.
Thinking of this Sunday Serenity tensed and took two steps back. The green-clad woman's sight also moving backwards with her, and she tilted her head slightly and murmur a question.
"?"
"Can you see me?"
"Manhattan Cafe, are you doing a club activity?"
As if she has asked a very stupid question, the woman named Hayakawa showed a puzzled expression. It was then that Sunday Serenity noticed that her strange behaviour had attracted the attention of the people around. Those Umamusumes glanced at her with curiosity before entering the school gate and heading back to class.
It's not just a few people—anyone can see her!
She went unnoticed along the way purely because she blended in with the crowd of office worker in suits, as if she had vanished.
From the start to finish, she was always there.
"Ho? Things are getting interesting."
Sunday Silence spoke with interest.
What's interesting, I'm completely exposed!
At this moment, Sunday Serenity felt like she was suddenly asked to give a speech at the graduation ceremony, and then rushed to the stage without any preparation in order to deliver a heartfelt and deeply emotional speech in front of thousand of students.
The pressure can be imagined, and Sunday Serenity has already prepared to turn around and run away.
"Tell her, 'Good morning Hayakawa-san.' "
Sunday Silence told her how to manage the situation.
"Morn... morning Hayakawa-san." Her tendancy to stumble over her words when nervous resurface. After omitting a few words, the original meaning change a lot.
"Oh my~" covering her mouth, Hayakawa eyes widened slightly, then after a brief moment of surprise, she quickly returned to her gentle smile.
She nodded vigorously, seemingly liking the nickname.
"Good morning, Manhattan Café. Have a nice day."
"Humm..."
After quickly walking through the school gate, Sunday Serenity covered her chest, forcing her heart, which was about to leap out of her chest, back into place.
That was close.
"Your acting was barely passable just now. Keep up the good work next time."
Sunday Silence patted her on the shoulder.
That's too low. No, that's not right. What about me being a ghost? What about the freedom? How is it not different from an ordinary person?"
"I was also surprised by this. There have been times were I was spotted, but only by a handful of people, for a short time—a few minutes at most.
That sounds very ghostly.
"But why did it start to go wrong when it's my turn?"
"Maybe when our two souls merged, something changed, allowing people without spiritual connection to see you?"
"You're kidding me... Right?"
"Isn't that great, my other half? The more people notice you, the more interesting it will be."
"I feel like I'm becoming more and more ordinary... Ugh!"
While talking to Sunday Silence, she didn't notice that Serenity accidentally collided with an Uma Musume who was running in direction of the school. The Uma Musume stumble back two step and sat down on the ground with a thud.
"Ouch, ouch, ouch—"
"Oh, sorry I didn't notice you."
Seeing that she collided with someone, Sunday Serenity Immediately apologized and reach out to grip the girl's shoulder and pulling her up from the ground.
"It's okay, I was in a hurry too, hehe..."
She let out a silly laugh.
The girl, with a brown bang with white highlights on her forehead, brushed the dust off her skirt before she could see the person who had pulled her up.
"Isn't that Manhattan Cafe-senpai! I thought you were a school teacher. Why are you wearing a race outfit to class?"
"A race outfit? Are you talking about what I wore. I put it own because it look cool..."
Sunday Serenity made a reason on the spot.
"Oh, I see." She clapped her hands together and believed it right away. "It is indeed very Stylish."
"You think so too? I really like black. It give people a mature vide..."
"I see." The girl nodded. "Someday I'll have my own race outfit. I really want to know what it will look like."
Just as the young girl was speaking with enthusiasm, the bell of the school rang, making the girl remember why she was in a hurry.
She was going to be late.
"Manhattan Cafe-senpai, I'm sorry but I have to go to class first."
The girl waved her hand and ran away quickly. By the time Sunday Serenity turned around, only her brown ponytail flashed by at the staircase corner.
So fast!
Wait, did I just got hit by that kind of speed?
"Don't touch others casually from now on."
A cold voice interrupted Sunday Serenity thoughts.
"Look at your hand." Sunday Silence reminded.
Lifting her palm, Sunday Serenity notices that the area from her fingertips to her wrist where she has just touched the girl, was now almost transparent. Not only that, but the part of Sunday Serenity body that has been hit also faded like ink.
The sunlight passed through her body and hit the ground without leaving any shadow.
"Even if you are somewhat special, your essence is still that of a ghost. If you touch other people carelessly, the flame of the soul of the living will burn your soul."
After repeatedly clenching her hand that only had an outline left, confirming it could still move and that the senses were still there, Sunday Serenity's tense breathing eased up a little.
But my current state it too dire.
"Don't panic. Wait until the night start and the star are out. They will heal your injury. Now try to stay in the shadows and don't let's other notice anything unusual."
"I see..."
Now half of her body is transparent. If she was discovered, she would definitely faint from fright on the spot.
"Luckily, I didn't get too close to anyone on the way. Otherwise I would have become transparent. But for a ghost, being transparent is normal right?"
"Not necessarily. I haven't bumped into anyone yet."
She approach a window, gently tapped the glass to show Sunday Silence.
The 'self' in the mirror squatted down and picked up a pebble from the ground. In reality the pebble seemed to be swept up by the wind and floated in the air. Before Sunday Serenity could react, the pebble fell back to the ground, while Sunday Silence remained in the same grasping posture.
"You tried it," she said.
Following her instructions, Sunday Serenity picked up the pebble with her still visible hand, and took the same position of her other self. The pebble was pinched between her fingertips, with no abnormalities occuring.
"Switch hands."
Withdrawing her transparent hand, Sunday Serenity pinched the pebble again. This time, it only stayed for a few seconds before the pebble passed through the palm of her hand and fell to the ground.
"This is..." Sunday Serenity was shocked and confused.
"Not only can you be seen, but you can also interact for with the world for a certain amount of time. Something that ordinary ghosts can't do."
Sunday Silence stroked her chin and laughed sweetly. "It's really exciting."
