Chapter 1 - Chapter – 1 Prologue

I'm Leon Schneider. Just a normal, 38 years old, unmarried and unemployed German.

(Yo! Galhard!) I screamed and walked towards a friend of mine across the street.

(Leon! Stop right there!) Galhard screamed out to me.

Oh my, if only I had looked at the street light before walking towards him.. I wouldn't be in this mist of darkness.

(Seriously, where even am I? I do remember getting hit by a bike while walking towards Galhard.

Did I die? Am I alive? And where am I?)

I spoke into the darkness, hoping someone… or something would answer.

But the silence and loneliness only grew as time pasted.

It has been exactly 3 hours 27 minutes and 34 seconds since I've been here, drifting along to somewhere.

Suddenly, I saw a huge pillar just in the middle of nowhere.

Gaining hope, I tried to swim across the darkness, flapping my legs and arms, I could barely even move an inch.

I didn't lose hope and continued. After several hours, I finally got to the pillar.

The pillar was gigantic and shabby, though it somehow barely stood by itself.

Even though it was so huge, I could still see the top, where lied a small platform.

As you may have predicted, I decided to try to climb until I get to the platform. A rather foolish and sudden idea it was.

Though the real question was, just how exactly do I climb up? There are no stairs, no holes to grab onto, or anything else.

Just as I said that, small rocks started forming, taking the form of steps.

It looked dangerous, but it was my own decision, so I can't back out now.

As I stepped foot on the first rock, a "system window" popped up on my screen.

"Quest: Climb the tower

 Reward: Player Identification

Risk of dying while doing the quest: 97.8%

If declined the quest or neglected: Instant death

Will you accept and comply?

-YES

-NO"

As soon as I saw that, my eyebrows perked up.

The risk is almost a certain death. And the same goes if I don't accept the quest.

Heh, I'm already dead, so whats the fear? I choose, (YES!).

That, I hoped. But if I weren't dead and actually died this time, it really would be lame.

I started jumping, walking on top of the stones one by one.

There were several times where I almost fell, like this one where if I had jumped even a second later, the stone would've taken me to the bottom with itself.

I start getting cocky and running on those rocks.

(Hah! This is ea-) My breath stopped, my heart feeling like it would come out from my throat.

I.. fell, just because of one single misstep.

Right when I lost hope, the system window popped up again.

"The system does not want [Player] to die.

One more chance given."

As I heard the robotic voice, I felt light, almost as if I wasn't falling anymore.

I looked down, I was actually not falling.

I automatically started levitating and got put onto one of the rocks.

I realized, this was the last chance I will get. To choose between either life or death.

And that choice is my action.

As I thought of that, I started carefully walking, not risking falling over again.

After 12 hours of continuously walking and up, I finally reached the platform.

Where stood a pedestal, with a some sort of identity card.

I walked up to it and looked closely at it.

It wrote,

" Player Identification Card

Name: Leon Schneider

Date Of Birth: 1987, January 14

Rank: F

Specialty: {}

Title: {}

Class: {}

Level: 1

[Will be updated as the players specialty, title, class, level and rank changes.]"

As soon as I grabbed it, my eyes opened.

Galhard trying to wake me up, we were in the middle of the street.

I saw a bike lying down on my side and a person looking panicked.

(Huh.. Guess it was all a dream…)

As I muttered those words, Galhard suddenly slapped me.

(The hell dude?! Are you 7 or something? Can't you even look at the traffic light before walking?!)

I slowly got up on my legs, wondering if all of what happened was really a dream.

Just as I wondered and spaced out, I heard a *pop*.

The system window appeared in front of me, it wrote,

"Player successfully gained consciousness, recovery process starting in…. 3…. 2…. 1.

All cuts healed.

Bone fractures healed.

Bone dislocation fixed.

Internal bleeding healed.

All injuries have been successfully healed and fixed.

Bonus attributes adding to [Leon] due to {Player} status.

[Auto Detoxification] given,

[Super Agility] given,

[Denser Bones] given,

[Denser Muscles] given,

[All-Seeing Eye] given,

[Stronger Will] adding…. Failed. {error 101; The specified player already has the attribute.}"

(Huh… So it wasn't a dream after all… But the attributes are really something.)

I said, both relieved and confused.

(What the hell are you muttering about now, Leon?)

Galhard complained with a confused look.

I guess I should really appreciate… the system.
