Chapter 14 - Sans nom

---

Jonathan said, "After everything we've been through, is there still anything we can call difficult?"

Amin replied, "In the beginning and in the end, we are humans. The next place is the Rift—the split and the boundary that will take us toward the Lich's dwelling, right next to the open gate toward the sky."

Jonathan said, "It sounds thrilling."

Amin, after mounting the horse with Jonathan, said, "It seems you are no longer a crybaby or weak. Oumnia's pistol is with you now" (Amin turned and smiled) "Her weapon is the strongest among ours. Unfortunately, fate took her away. As I told you, we are human; external factors affect our destiny."

Jonathan said, "I can't forget her, and the pistol is with me. I know things no one else knows."

Amin asked, "What do you mean?"

Jonathan said, "Adam told me everything he was going to do. His goals were ethical, contrary to appearances. He purified the world—no betrayal, no killing, nothing against humanity. Because of his ruling power, the lands are balanced, and poverty has vanished. He hasn't finished yet. He told me he would end the Curse of the Playrooms and also end the Lich's reign forever. He took his revenge and left. Adam is not evil."

Amin fell silent and spurred the horse forward. After days of traveling, wandering, camping in every place, the duo reached the Rift and the designated spot. There, they had to purify themselves to cross it. After all this vile, filthy journey, impossible to describe in words, how could the soul and spirit remain pure? Amin couldn't pass, but astonishingly, Jonathan did—and he extended his hand to the other side and pulled Amin through, surprising him with the inner clarity Jonathan possessed.

Suddenly, the gaze of the massive Lich, as if waiting for them, fell upon them. It said, "You were clever to lure yourselves here. It was all a plan from the beginning. I used the monsters to kill Oumnia so she would go to Amin. Amin, Adam knew from the start that you weren't pure. He knew from the moment he decided to take care of Jonathan that he was the only one capable of crossing the Rift. Now, all you will see is fear… because I am fear!"

Amin froze in place, and so did Jonathan. As in the previous incident, the Lich grabbed him with its bony hands and spoke, "Don't be afraid. Everything will be alright…"

Suddenly, the Lich's bones fell as if it had died. Amin's skin and muscles began to peel from his skeleton, leaving only his bones, which transformed completely into a Lich. He penetrated the Rift toward Adam and grabbed him by the chest, drawing him close. Suddenly, Adam embraced Amin the Lich, and their bodies began to change, transforming into two twisted trees entwined around each other, holding one another.

Within these trees exists a spiritual world where Amin and Adam live together forever. On the opposite shore, the clear sea welcomes Adam's friends into a world where they live in isolation from the rest, finding everything they wished for. Amin approached Adam, leaving the others standing and watching. He smiled, inhaled the fresh air, and spread his arms:

"Hmmm… I have a house overlooking the sea, alone and at peace. I have arranged all your books, which I never had time to read, on the shelves. I face the sea and study them—word by word, page by page…"

The Rift disappears, along with the hole that threw the survivors of the Playrooms. Jonathan, panting, moved toward the gate splitting the sky, returning safely to Alama.

The End

---

We see Jonathan facing the camera, now grown up and the most famous journalist in the world. Everyone was watching his broadcast, which he was recording, and he said:

"I have an important message from someone named Adam. The message is as follows:

I am the one who created the Playroom at Safa School and Marwa. I did this to make people taste fear and learn survival, and also, everyone was a pawn with important roles to end the matter of the Playrooms by breaking the Lich's hereditary sequence. Perhaps I sacrificed everyone, but the matter saved many. I want to address the government responsible for studying the Playrooms: the government creates monsters by using marginalized and forgotten people, such as orphans and the homeless. So please, feel each other's presence in society. The government also had a tool to close the Playrooms, just as I created one using nanotechnology. Do not forget, they use the Rift to turn humans into monsters. Therefore, please remove and dismantle the responsible government. If you receive this message, know that I and every one of my companions have finished our task for your sake, so do not let this become mere words without action."

Jonathan then inserted a USB into the computer and published files and videos exposing the government's actions, as well as showing the victims, the guilty, the perpetrators, and those forced into it. These were files and information Jonathan had found in Adam's room after returning to live in the same house. The condition was that nothing in the house would be withheld from them—this was Adam's instruction long ago.

The government's reign ended; all their rights were confiscated, they were imprisoned, and the money they had earned was redirected to aid poor countries. This was due to Jonathan's campaign, whose true strength lay in asserting and spreading truth. Adam's pursuit and achievement of goals were reflected in him.

We see Jonathan leaning back, looking at the ceiling where a picture of Adam's smiling father and Adam laughing hangs. Jonathan laughed and said:

"Perhaps we are alike." (laughs)
