"Meet my Servant, Jeanne Alter!" Morpheus introduced his new Summon with enthusiasm.
The sight of Jeanne Alter sparked surprise among the group.
"Isn't that…" Mash began, quickly correcting herself. "She was an opponent before, but that doesn't mean she is now. Her summoning as a Servant proves she's transitioned from a fictional construct to a true Heroic Spirit."
"How is that possible?!" Romani stared at Jeanne Alter, puzzled. "It shouldn't be. She has no foundation, existing only in a corrected history, erased long ago. How could a village of Heroic Spirits form from that?"
Morpheus chimed in, "Maybe because she was born, she was recorded. In a way, her creation via the Holy Grail's power fabricated a Heroic Spirit, and such beings are inherently logged in the Throne."
Romani shook his head. "Still, it's astonishing. If that's true, we might need to update our theories on Heroic Spirit formation... no, we must update them."
Jeanne Alter glanced nervously at the crowd. Despite inheriting Gilles' memories of Jeanne, mixed with his imagination, granting her some social ability, she was a product of his hatred. Her communication skills fell short of a normal adult's... or even a normal person's.
She felt like a child, apprehensive of the group, especially as they discussed her existence, intensifying her unease.
Morpheus agreed with Romani. "We could refine the theory. Maybe even create unique Heroic Spirits for Chaldea to bolster our strength."
Romani and Olga Marie's eyes lit up. Olga Marie said, "We have plenty of Grails. If needed, we could craft specific Heroic Spirits…"
Romani pondered, then shook his head. "Probably unnecessary. Heroic Spirits have power caps. Even if we create one, summoning them is tough. Someone like Artemis, at her level, is impossible without restrictions."
Olga Marie nodded. "True. Regular Servants are easier to summon, with combat experience no fabricated Spirit could match."
The promising plan was shelved, and Chaldea's mass-production of Servants was put on ice.
Morpheus shrugged. Even if a new entity was created, its strength would depend on the creator's knowledge. Gilles' familiarity with Jeanne birthed Jeanne Alter, but creating a supremely powerful being required vast expertise.
Yet, if too powerful, summoning limits would cap its strength, resulting in something akin to Jeanne Alter or Artoria's level.
Why bother, when summoning experienced heroes like Artoria was better?
Morpheus dropped the idea, turning to Jeanne Alter, noticing her tension. "What's wrong?" he whispered.
"Nothing. I just feel… like a…" She searched the modern knowledge the Grail provided, "like a lab rat."
"They're just curious about your existence and explaining it," Morpheus smiled, comforting her. "Besides, your presence and stability mean you've got divine approval, right?"
"God?" she asked.
"You believe in the one true Lord, so you get what I mean."
Jeanne Alter looked at Morpheus, silent. She understood. Though born from someone's desires, a false existence, she shared Jeanne's faith in the Lord.
In the France Singularity, this man, bearing the sins of a messiah, took her burdens, making her equal to other humans... acknowledged by the Son of God.
Thus, she was recognized by God.
As a defined human, she didn't need to overthink. She could live and think as herself.
After all, she was human now.
Morpheus had said so, and she trusted him. She was human.
This bond, she believed, linked them, allowing her summoning in such a vague call.
Morpheus, who bore her sins, was her relic.
Her heart raced, excited by this mystical connection.
Ritsuka spoke up. "Great! Now we've got two permanent Servants!"
Da Vinci raised her hand. "I'm permanent too!"
Mash clarified for her Master, "You can't go to Singularities. Senpai meant permanent field Servants!"
"True, I can't go to Singularities," Da Vinci nodded, addressing Jeanne Alter. "So, you're Chaldea's second true field Servant!"
Jeanne Alter glanced at Morpheus, confused. "But isn't Morpheus a Servant?"
All eyes turned to him.
Morpheus shook his head. "I have some Servant traits, but I'm not one. I'm human, with a real human body."
"He's actually…" Romani began, but Olga Marie cut in. "You're Master and Servant now. Even if he doesn't say, you'll learn how it works through your bond."
She smiled, adding, "Morpheus isn't one to hoard secrets. What we see as confidential, he might not care about. You can just ask him."
From Morpheus' reports, everyone knew he'd been a Servant in another world's Grail War, explaining his traits.
But that wasn't for Jeanne Alter to know yet. Since Morpheus hadn't shared, they didn't either.
It was his business.
Jeanne Alter eyed Morpheus suspiciously, clearly questioning him.
He sipped tea, casually recounting a simplified version of his past.
Afterward, Jeanne Alter stared, awestruck and envious. "I thought my birth and life were bizarre, but yours are just as wild!"
Her expression held a newfound kinship.
"No worries. I've got more bizarre tales you'll learn in time," Morpheus said. As Master and Servant, unless he sealed his mind, she'd access his past.
But he didn't bother hiding it. It wasn't shameful, and knowing changed nothing.
Just like with Olga Marie... let her know, it didn't matter.
…
In the room, Jeanne Alter devoured a meal, spoon moving furiously.
Chaldea, despite its Arctic isolation and severed external ties, had ample supplies, enough for years, even through all Singularities.
Canned food, humanity's greatest invention, abounded in Chaldea... desserts, fruits, meats, everything!
Before Jeanne Alter was a can of tomato-braised beef, its flavor captivating her, ignoring the other two in the room.
Morpheus and Olga Marie.
Olga Marie held a thin booklet from Morpheus, studying its contents.
The material was simple, basic magical knowledge. She looked surprised. "Planning to be a teacher?"
"I'm skilled enough to guide beginners," Morpheus said, pointing to the booklet. "Get it?"
"It's easy. Even a mundane with no magical background could understand. I've got magecraft knowledge... there's overlap," Olga Marie said proudly. "You underestimating me?"
"Oh? Shall I test you?"
"I said I understood, not memorized!" she retorted.
"Fine, study it. Once you're done, I'll teach you Astrology."
"Astrology?"
"Yup. Your family specializes in astromancy magecraft, right? Astrology suits you," Morpheus smiled, outlining his teaching plan. "But to be clear, I focus on Kabbalah. My Astrology teaches how to harness angels' power via planets, not much else."
"Summoning angels' power through planets?"
"Exactly. Planets have corresponding angelic symbols. We use the symbol, not mana like astromancy magecraft. We summon angels' aid through symbols... that's true Astrology."
Morpheus had studied astromancy magecraft. At its peak, it could tap celestial bodies for vast mana, powering grand spells.
But his magic theory relied on inner strength, emphasizing personal power. Astrology didn't need planetary mana... just symbolic concepts.
Morpheus grew excited, picturing Chaldea's Director summoning angelic power via planetary symbols, blasting enemies opposing Chaldea.
The thought thrilled him!
"Why do I need to learn numerology magic too?" Olga Marie asked suddenly.
Morpheus grinned. "Numbers tie into Astrology's concepts."
"They're connected?!"
"Different numbers can have varied meanings, but you can shift them. In Astrology, a number can represent a planet, which ties to an angel's power.
"You can also swap to other gods' powers. Take the moon... I can summon Gabriel's power or Artemis'. With another shift, I could tap feminine supreme beings from other myths via Artemis' traits."
"Feminine supreme beings?"
"Like Gaia from Greek myth, Izanami from Japanese myth, and so on. They can be linked and summoned.
"You could even call dangerous entities, like the Black Goat of the Woods from Cthulhu myth."
Morpheus smiled faintly.
"But it's tough. I can't summon them casually yet. I'd need another power boost."
