It was an overwhelming torrent of mana, a planet-forged divine construct that saved the gods and civilizations of Earth in a distant past!
If divine constructs crafted by gods surpassed mortal arms, planet-forged divine constructs were their pinnacle, created by the planet itself, from which gods were born.
Not to say the son outshines the father, but the planet stands at the apex of the divine concept. Some even claim nature gods are the planet's tendrils, extensions of its will.
Perhaps if humanity escapes the planet's grasp and creates a new god, that god's authority might surpass the planet.
The Excalibur in Morpheus's hand was not the original... a wholly false construct of magic... yet it bore its own merit, absent in the true holy sword!
Its feat of slaying a descendant of the White Death granted it true greatness!
As Morpheus unleashed this strike, radiant starlight clashed with Gilgamesh's attack.
Gilgamesh's blow could raze everything, obliterating Fuyuki City and nearby towns, but Morpheus's strike perfectly countered it, evenly matched!
Immense energies collided, canceling each other. Shockwaves spread, only to be contained by the bounded field, absorbed to strengthen it further!
Gilgamesh, seeing Morpheus block his attack with a weapon absent from his treasury, was stunned. He glanced at Artoria outside the bounded field.
"You woman!! You gave him your Noble Phantasm?!"
But Artoria was equally shocked. Why could Morpheus use her Noble Phantasm? If he wielded Excalibur, what was the weapon in her hand?
Could this be what Medea meant... that Morpheus, in the distant past, crafted magic mimicking her holy sword's power, perfectly replicating it?
It was almost too outrageous.
This replicated power rivaled her authentic Excalibur, even surpassing her own strikes!
But this wasn't its limit!
Morpheus intensified his output!
The holy sword, scepter, astrolabe, and grail... symbols of the four elements... orbiting him like planets around the sun, as he chanted.
"Angels stand before him, in the name of Y-H-V-H. Angels of earth, wind, water, and fire, swiftly guard him."
Angelic silhouettes appeared within Morpheus's bounded field, nearly destabilizing it upon arrival!
Even these infinitely weakened angels, summoned by Morpheus, held planet-shaking power. His bounded field, far from planetary scale, nearly collapsed despite their minimal actions!
Morpheus used their power to reinforce the bounded field, sustaining it with angelic might.
This elevated its defenses, ensuring it wouldn't collapse abruptly.
Then, he drew vast mana from the angels' presence!
"Archangels?!" Shirou Emiya, the most ordinary Japanese high schooler present, exclaimed. Exposed to the mundane world, he recognized the archangels first.
Though their forms were vague, their many wings were visible, exuding holiness. What shocked Shirou was Morpheus's magic summoning such beings!
"YHVH is the name of God. He summoned angels… and that aura, the lily-holding angel, matches the jewel's aura. It must be Gabriel…" Rin Tohsaka gripped her wrist, where her father's jewel, tied to Gabriel, rested.
"The lily-holding one is Gabriel?" Shirou asked, puzzled. Morpheus's lessons hadn't covered this yet.
Sakura Matou smiled, explaining, "The sword-wielding angel is Michael, the lily-holding one is Gabriel, the fiery one is Uriel, Hell's guardian, and the last is Raphael, protector of travelers."
She'd studied these topics extensively, self-taught, knowing more than anyone but Morpheus.
Her gaze grew entranced.
"As expected, Morpheus-nii can wield angelic power effortlessly, manipulating such vast forces like threads…"
"He summoned mythical angels…" Medusa gaped, struggling to accept it. The Holy Grail summoning Servants was already grand, but summoning true gods required their consent to lower themselves.
Yet Morpheus summoned divine avatars directly, their unweakened power evident even through the bounded field's brief gap... terrifying even in the Age of Gods.
And he summoned four!
Artoria stood silent. Though reluctant, she admitted Morpheus, wielding her Noble Phantasm and summoning such beings, could send all remaining Servants back to the Throne of Heroes single-handedly!
It was cheating... a bug! How could the Grail summon such a being?!
Unless…
Artoria glanced at Rin, whose jewel shared Gabriel's aura.
Illya, watching Morpheus's display, widened her eyes in excitement, munching on a bag of snacks, swinging her feet happily.
"As expected, Unc's power is incredible! This magic is amazing. If I can learn it, as he said, I could live freely, no longer controlled!
"And if he can wield angelic power like this, protecting my soul after my body dies is possible. Angels guarding souls likely rank below these four."
Illya realized Morpheus hadn't lied... his promises were true!
Even if she died, he could protect her soul, then find a new body for perfect revival!
While the group had varied, mostly optimistic thoughts, Gilgamesh was utterly dumbfounded.
Seeing the four angelic silhouettes, he froze.
Then, uncontrollable roars burst from his mouth.
"Mongrel, what have you done?! What are you doing?! Why can you summon such things? These vile, divine-powered beings!
"Angels? Summoning angels?! Don't think I can't strike gods!"
Fear consumed him, wave after wave. His treasury held the Chains of Heaven, but could they bind these beings?
Golden chains appeared, reaching for the angels, aiming to bind them. This Noble Phantasm, effective against divinity, had bound the Bull of Heaven, growing stronger with higher divinity... a true anti-divine construct.
But Gilgamesh lacked confidence.
These events shook his self-assurance. Could his weapon affect what Morpheus summoned?
The chains bound the angels, but Hell's flames erupted, melting them!
Their power was overwhelming. Not just sword-wielding Michael, but even lily-holding Gabriel's overflowing might shattered the chains!
Morpheus ignored the Chains of Heaven, focusing on channeling the angels' elemental power into his Sword of Promised Victory spell.
He even lectured his foe.
"If you didn't just use the Chains of Heaven but deconstructed their concept, integrating them into a Christian-based spell, you could affect these angels."
His lecturing tone made Gilgamesh's face flush with rage... lectured by a mortal!
"If you want to kill the god in your head, studying human mythological history might help, but you probably won't listen." Morpheus smirked, intensifying Excalibur's output!
The Sword of Promised Victory's light surged, overpowering Ea's force!
The roaring Sword of Promised Victory engulfed Gilgamesh, destroying his Grail-crafted body and saint graph, leaving his fading consciousness no chance to linger in the Grail's relay!
As Gilgamesh perished, his Gate of Babylon, including Ea, dissipated.
But Morpheus didn't dispel the bounded field... his task wasn't done.
He leaped, and a magic circle appeared on the ground, similar to the one that sealed Heracles, but with a new central symbol: a pentagram with directional arrows.
A pentagram of exorcism!
"In the name of the ten mighty and fearsome domains of light, before which darkness retreats, I summon thee, Lord of the World, who works silently, expressed through stillness.
"May the eternal divine light shine upon this work, strengthening my resistance to shadows. Aid me in this exorcism, for the spirit here has invaded the human world and must be banished by the power of light magic.
"With divine aid, this work shall be completed."
A lengthy incantation, unshortened, as Morpheus moved with precise steps, facing different directions, invoking various divine names for the exorcism ritual. As a former deputy of the Dawn-Colored Sunlight, he'd performed many exorcisms.
Some reckless student might summon a true evil spirit with half-baked methods.
These jobs even earned him extra cash.
Normally, Morpheus's expertise allowed a simplified chant, done in under thirty seconds. But this, his first in the Nasuverse, aimed to prevent Gilgamesh's soul from being caught by the Grail, so he took his time.
As the ritual concluded, Gilgamesh's soul was exorcised, sent to the Throne of Heroes outside the world.
The bounded field dissipated, leaving only damaged buildings and ground craters as proof of Gilgamesh's battle with Morpheus, capable of destroying a city.
The city remained unscathed, the battle not disturbing the quiet night or the dreams of the unaware.
