Chapter 6: Shadows of Stealth, Part 1

[Adam's Quarters - Night, Day 3]

The world outside your quarters was dark and still, a blanket of silence broken only by the distant hoot of an owl and the soft rustle of leaves in the evening breeze. Inside, the single, flickering candlelight cast long, dancing shadows on the stone walls, making the cramped space feel both larger and more claustrophobic. You sat cross-legged on your straw mattress, the silence a stark contrast to the turbulent storm of thoughts in your mind. The previous simulation, the brutal, clumsy dance with Jaime Lannister, had been a lesson in failure, a painful but necessary baptism. You had died, but you had gained something, a small, yet significant step forward. And now, the system was offering you a new path, a new chance.

The holographic text shimmered before you, its cool, pale light a stark contrast to the warm, flickering candle flame. The words were a quiet, yet powerful command.

[TALENT: STEALTH (GREEN)]

[SIMULATION INITIATED: USER ACTION—WARN BRAN STARK.]

A strange, tingly sensation, like a thousand tiny pins and needles, spread across your skin. It wasn't an unpleasant feeling; it was the sensation of something new settling into your very bones. You felt… lighter. Your movements felt more fluid, more silent. You gripped the hilt of your dagger, the cold steel a reassuring presence in your hand, and you stepped into the swirling vortex of the simulation.

"Stealth, huh? Let's play ghost. The system's giving me a shadow's chance. Better not screw this up. I can't face him head-on, not yet. But I can be a whisper in the wind, a ghost in the shadows. I'll get to Bran, and I'll get him down safely. This time, I won't fail. I can't afford to fail."

The world around you shifted, the flickering candlelight and the scent of hay replaced by the cold, biting air of dawn. The stones of the Winterfell tower were slick with a thin layer of frost, and a low, mournful wind whistled through the ramparts, a lonely sound that spoke of a long, cold morning to come.

[Winterfell Tower - Dawn, Simulation]

[You move like a wraith, your cloak blending seamlessly with the grey stone of the tower. Your boots are silent, your steps a feather-light whisper on the frosty ground. The air is cold, but the cold is a part of you now, a tool for your new skill. You see the boy, Bran, a small, agile figure climbing higher, his small hands gripping tightly onto the ledges, his breath a small puff of white in the cold air. He is blissfully unaware of the danger lurking below, his mind focused on the climb, on the simple joy of scaling a wall. Below him, cloaked in crimson and gold, stands Jaime Lannister. His green eyes are sharp, his gaze scanning the tower like a predator. He is the snake in the grass, the lion waiting to pounce. He doesn't see you, not yet. You are a whisper, a shadow, a ghost. You slip closer, your heart steady, a low hum of power in your veins. You are a few feet away from Bran now, close enough to reach out and touch him. You whisper his name, a soft, urgent sound in the cold air. "Bran, get down, danger." Bran pauses, his eyes wide with confusion. He looks down, but he doesn't see you. He only sees the space between you and him, the empty air.]

Jaime's head snaps up. He didn't see you. He didn't hear you. But he heard something. A faint, almost imperceptible sound that was out of place. His eyes, sharp and predatory, scan the tower, searching for the source of the sound. You duck behind a thick stone pillar, your body pressed against the cold stone, the Stealth talent cloaking you in a shroud of invisibility. The chill seeps into your bones, but you barely notice. All of your focus is on the man, the lion, the Kingslayer, who is just a few feet away from you.

"Stealth's my edge, but Jaime's got ears like a wolf. He's a warrior. He's trained to hear things others can't. I have to be more careful. I can't use my voice. I have to find another way to communicate with Bran, a silent way."

He takes a step forward, his boot crunching on a patch of frost. You hold your breath, your heart a frantic drum against your ribs. He is so close. You can smell the leather of his gloves, the metallic tang of his armor, the crisp, clean scent of a man who is used to power and privilege. He pauses, his gaze fixed on the spot where you had been standing. He shakes his head, as if dismissing a fleeting thought, and begins to move toward the tower's entrance, his focus now on a more direct path to Bran. You have to act fast. You have to get Bran down before Jaime reaches him. You have to be faster, quieter, and more cunning than the most dangerous man in Westeros.
