"DXD: Infinite Loot System"Chapter 355: Ascension to Transcendence
VMMMMMMM!
Space itself vibrated, reality warping around Tenra as True Longinus fused into his soul. Power exploded from his body, shattering the silence. In an instant, his spirit—parched and battered by battle—rebounded to its peak, then kept climbing, surging higher and higher.
He rose, weightless, into the sky. Tenra became the eye of a storm; wild currents of energy whipped outward, scattering clouds, rattling the earth. Yubelluna, Roygun, and the others had to retreat even farther, shielding their eyes from the blast. Cao Cao, still unable to move, was swept up and flung away, vanishing into the distance.
"AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!"
The power was endless, overwhelming, and still growing. Tenra threw back his head, fists clenched, and roared at the heavens.
Above, the sky was scoured clean—clouds ripped away by the force. Below, the ground quaked, a crater hundreds of meters wide opening up beneath him, carved by nothing but his unleashed aura.
Roygun and Yubelluna's group stared in awe, speechless. Even Grayfia, usually the picture of icy composure, trembled with excitement, her eyes wide, her body refusing to obey her restraint.
You've finally reached it, Tenra Kamiyo—the realm beyond all others.
The cosmic disturbance faded, leaving only silence. Tenra hung in the air, outwardly unchanged, but inside, he could feel it: power beyond comprehension, a new world at his fingertips.
"So this is what it means to be Transcendent..."
He flexed his hands, a slow smile curving his lips.
No one who hadn't reached this level could ever grasp its true strength. Back when he fought Kokabiel, Tenra had been confident, but cautious—victory was never guaranteed. Now? Kokabiel would be nothing. One slap, and he'd be dust.
A flash of light—True Longinus materialized in Tenra's hand, golden and radiant.
He spun the spear, easy and casual, then thrust forward. The spear's tip shot out, stretching impossibly far, and with a thunderous boom, obliterated a mountain tens of kilometers away.
Tenra retracted the weapon, nodding in satisfaction. No wonder it was called the strongest Longinus—nothing could withstand its edge.
There was a twinge of regret. The will of the Biblical God was gone now, dispersed in their last clash—a remnant, finally erased. From now on, True Longinus would never again unleash Polar Night.
But it didn't matter. The spear belonged to him now. Without the old god's will, Tenra would carve his own legacy into it. Someday, his will would be the only divine truth in this world.
He dismissed the spear, heart swelling with ambition.
Transcendent power, a host of Sacred Gear abilities—he feared no one now.
Supreme strength, the freedom to seize anything he desired.
But this was only a step on his journey. He would go farther, rise higher. One day, the heavens and all worlds would kneel at his feet.
"Tenra-sama!"
Yubelluna and the others flew back, their eyes shining with excitement and awe.
Their master was unstoppable.
"Tenra Kamiyo, you really are..."
"...incredible."
Roygun's smile was complicated, almost bittersweet. Against Tenra now, she felt small for the first time.
She was the head of the Belfengor family, second seat in the Rating Game, a Maou-class devil with honors and prestige beyond count. Yet Tenra stood on a tier she could barely imagine.
Tenra nodded to the girls, then turned to Grayfia.
He hadn't forgotten their deal. Now that he'd reached the Transcendent realm, it was time for Grayfia to reveal the truth she'd promised.
Their eyes met. Grayfia's gaze flickered, then turned aside.
Not yet, her silence said. Another time.
A few hundred meters away, Georg, Siegfried, Leonardo, and Heracles appeared from a teleportation circle, battered and beaten. Siegfried was missing his left arm entirely.
"Cao Cao, even your Sacred Gear's gone?"
Georg helped Cao Cao to his feet, his voice heavy.
No need to ask—Cao Cao's wounds, the absence of any Sacred Gear aura, told the whole story.
"Yeah. Lost to him. He took the Sacred Gear too."
"How did your side go?"
Cao Cao barely seemed to care about his own fate; his focus was on the operation.
"Failed. The Old Satan Faction is finished—it's just a matter of time."
"Tch. So even that wasn't enough. I guess those guys were never anything special."
"Tell the rest to retreat. This war is over."
"Understood."
Defeat was bitter, but there was no point in arguing. Cao Cao and Georg gave Tenra's group one last look, then vanished into the teleportation array.
"Hey! They got away!"
Ile and Nel shouted, angry and frustrated. Roygun and her household looked grim.
The distance was too great; even if they'd tried, they couldn't have caught up.
"Let them go. They're spent. They won't be causing trouble anymore."
Tenra shrugged, unconcerned.
Roygun's group couldn't stop the retreat, but if Tenra had wanted, he could have ended it right there. Still, he let them go—after all, they'd contributed so many Sacred Gears to him over the years. He could afford to show mercy.
If they came back to bother him again, though? He'd crush them with a flick of his wrist.
Roygun sighed, then seemed to recall something, her eyes brightening:
"Tenra Kamiyo, the Khaos Brigade is in retreat. This war is finished."
"This is Belfengor territory. Why don't you come rest at my estate?"
"No need to trouble you, Miss Roygun. We can just teleport home."
"Tenra Kamiyo, that's hardly gentlemanly. You saved me and my household—won't you even let us thank you?"
She looked wounded, voice soft and plaintive.
"Alright, since you insist..."
Tenra relented, then glanced at Grayfia.
"Grayfia, will you join us?"
"I won't. You don't need my protection anymore. I'll be heading back."
Grayfia's expression was cool, her words final. She nodded to the group, summoned a teleportation circle, and vanished—no hesitation, no wasted movement.
Tenra couldn't help but smile wryly. Roygun, meanwhile, flashed a dazzling grin.
If Grayfia had stayed, her plans would have been complicated. But now—
She looked at Tenra, her tongue flicking across her lips, eyes gleaming with anticipation.
