"Kept you waiting, huh, Vali?"
Tenra's wings snapped open, launching him skyward in a blazing arc of crimson. His fist tightened, and with a roar, he punched the empty air—
"Blade Maelstrom—Ruin Fist!"
The sky erupted. Thousands of razor-sharp energy blades tore through the night, converging into a single, howling torrent that slammed into the silver-white dragon above.
Vali's monstrous form reeled, battered by the storm of blades. Blood sprayed, and the dragon's cry split the heavens.
"Divide! Divide!! Divide!!!"
"Boost! Boost!! Boost!!!"
Blue wings flashed as Vali righted himself, conjuring a swarm of magic spheres that blotted out the stars. Tenra's arms blurred, hurling his own barrage—energy orbs raining like meteorites.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The sky shattered. Night burned away, replaced by a blinding, apocalyptic dawn.
"VALI!"
"ROAAAAR!"
Their voices thundered, man and dragon colliding again and again. Each impact shook the world.
Explosions tore through the night. Crimson emperor and silver dragon battled like gods—magic bullets, hurricanes, fire, lightning. Kuoh Town's citizens cowered, trembling at the edge of the end of days.
Lucky, in a way—someone would come to erase their memories, to let them forget this nightmare.
Unlucky, too—forced to live beneath a false peace, mere insects gazing up at titans.
On a rooftop, a girl with glasses stood in the wind, eyes ablaze as she watched the duel above.
CRASH!
Another collision. Sparks bloomed, and Tenra tumbled through the chaos, wings thrashing to regain control.
"Partner, you're running on fumes," Ddraig warned from the jewel. The new form—born from devouring Ascalon—was powerful enough to face Juggernaut Drive, but the cost was brutal. If this dragged out, Tenra's body would give out before Vali did.
"Then we end it. Now."
Tenra's eyes burned with reckless resolve. He flashed beneath the silver dragon, fists flying in a furious barrage.
"YAAAAAAAHHHHH!"
Each strike unleashed a torrent of energy blades, driving Vali's massive body higher and higher—until, suddenly, they broke through the clouds, rising to the edge of the atmosphere.
Space. Bitter cold. Frost coated both combatants in thick armor, but devils and dragons could endure what would kill any mortal.
Tenra shattered the ice with a surge of power, then wrapped his arms around Vali's enormous frame.
"Let go, partner! He'll drain your power!" Ddraig panicked.
"Let him," Tenra replied, eyes wild. "Just watch, Ddraig. We're about to pull off something nobody's ever dared."
He began to spin, dragging Vali's bulk with him—then plunged, headlong, toward the planet below.
Ddraig's voice trembled. "You—you're not seriously—"
Tenra laughed, mad and triumphant. "Let's finish this, Vali! Albion! Watch my final move—the Two Heavenly Dragons' ultimate—"
"EARTH CRASH!"
Gravity seized them, crimson and silver streaking downward, a meteor bound for the heart of the world.
"Is Tenra-sama okay? I'm so worried."
"The fighting stopped—what happened?"
"It's too far, I can't see anything…"
On the ground, the crowd waited in agony, Rias and her girls frantic with worry.
"Ah… ah… Look! There—!"
Gasper's mouth hung open, finger pointing at the sky. Everyone turned to see a blazing fireball hurtling downward—at its heart, the Two Heavenly Dragons.
Like a fallen star, the inferno plummeted outside Kuoh Town.
BOOOOM!
Fire leapt skyward. The earth shook. Where once stood a mountain, only a scorched crater remained.
In its center lay two charred figures, motionless.
Rias and the girls covered their mouths, horror and awe mingling in their eyes. Even Sirzechs and Michael were shaken.
This was the battle of the Two Heavenly Dragons—cataclysmic, brutal, final.
Everyone waited, hearts pounding, resisting the urge to rush forward. Until a victor emerged, the fight was not yet over.
"Ddraig… are we alive?" Tenra croaked, sprawled in the dust.
"Barely. Not far from death," Ddraig replied, voice weak but unmistakably alive.
She used to think she and Albion were crazy. But this partner—he was madness incarnate.
"As long as we're not dead, that's enough… hah…"
Tenra tried to laugh, but the pain made him hiss and grit his teeth. His body was scorched, organs battered, bones shattered—he'd never been hurt like this before. If Vali hadn't absorbed most of the impact, Tenra would be gone.
He shivered, remembering the moment. He'd underestimated himself; maybe he had a savage side buried deep after all.
With shaking hands, Tenra pulled out a vial of Phoenix Tears, bit off the cap, and drank. Warmth flooded his body, knitting flesh and bone back together.
His spirit wasn't fully restored, but he could stand. Wobbling to his feet, Tenra looked down at Vali—still unconscious, utterly spent.
Unexpectedly, Tenra felt calm.
"We won, partner," Ddraig whispered, emotion thick in her voice.
Tenra smiled, exhilaration surging through him.
Yeah. The fated battle of the Two Heavenly Dragons—was theirs.
