"That's the situation. Sorry to trouble you again, Sona."
In the student council room, Tenra laid out his request.
"Enrollment isn't an issue, but… aren't they from the Church?" Sona Sitri arched an eyebrow, her tone measured but laced with concern.
They'd fought side by side before, but that didn't erase the gulf between devils and the Church. Bringing former exorcists into a devil-run school wasn't exactly textbook strategy.
Tenra smiled. "Relax. Irina and Xenovia have already left the Church. They're with us now."
Sona's eyes widened, just for a moment. Everyone knew how stubborn those Church types were—convincing them to walk away from their faith was no small feat. Especially Holy Sword wielders with ironclad resolve.
"In that case, I'll handle their enrollment," she said, quickly regaining her composure.
Tenra couldn't help but be a little surprised that she didn't press for details. "You're not even curious how I managed it?"
"Prying into others' secrets isn't my style," Sona replied, her gaze steady.
He laughed. "That's so you, Sona. I owe you another favor."
"Don't you already owe me enough?"
"Probably more than I can count. At this point, what's one or two more?"
"Hmph. Someday, I'll make sure you pay them all back."
With that, Irina and Xenovia's entry was settled. Naturally, they'd be joining Tenra, Rias, and the others in the same class. When the two girls introduced themselves at the front of the room, the boys in the audience nearly lost their minds.
Two more gorgeous transfer students!
But the moment they saw how close the girls were with Tenra, the mood soured.
Damn you, Kamiyo Tenra! Why do all the pretty new girls end up with you?!
Kendo Club—
Clack! Clack, clack, clack!
The sharp ring of wooden swords echoed through the dojo. Murayama, Katase, and Kiryuu Aika were locked in an intense three-way duel.
Under Tenra's guidance, Murayama and Katase had become formidable—more than a match for any group of thugs. But even working together, they could only barely keep up with Kiryuu.
Unbelievable. Just a month ago, either of them could've wiped the floor with her.
This girl's progress was unreal.
But the surprises weren't over.
"HAAAH!"
With a fierce shout, Kiryuu's bokken flashed with a pale glow, slicing through the air toward Murayama and Katase. The force behind it was unmistakable—a surge of ki.
Tenra's eyes narrowed, intrigued. The girls watching from the sidelines gasped.
Ki—she'd actually mastered the club president's technique!
Murayama and Katase's faces drained of color. They barely managed to raise their swords in defense, but the wooden blades snapped like twigs. The impact sent both girls flying across the dojo, landing in a tangled heap.
Tenra moved in a blur, catching them before they hit the mats. For a heartbeat, the entire room went silent. Even Kiryuu looked stunned by her own strength.
Did I really just do that…?
"Hahahaha! You all saw that, right?" Kiryuu recovered quickly, planting one hand on her hip and pointing her sword at the others, grinning like a cat who'd just caught a canary. "Murayama, Katase, all of you—kneel before my blade! From now on, you answer to me!"
Normally, the club would've booed her offstage for being so cocky—especially coming from the club's resident pervert. But right now, every girl just stared at her in awe.
Even Tenra had to admit, Kiryuu had blown past every expectation. Her swordsmanship now eclipsed everyone in the club, and she'd mastered ki on top of it. In the Phoenix household, a girl like her would be considered a prodigy, worthy of special attention.
"Kiryuu, we lost. Fair and square."
"You actually beat Murayama and Katase… not bad, Kiryuu!"
"That was the president's ki technique, right? I can't believe you pulled it off. Amazing!"
"Kiryuu, you have to teach us next time!"
Murayama and Katase offered wry smiles as they acknowledged defeat, while the rest of the girls crowded around Kiryuu to congratulate her. They might tease her for being a pervert, but they couldn't fake their genuine happiness at her progress.
"Hmph, you all underestimated me."
"Oh-hohoho…"
Kiryuu basked in their praise, practically preening.
"Well done, Kiryuu."
Tenra stepped forward, offering his own rare words of praise.
"Hehe, President, you haven't forgotten your promise, right?"
Kiryuu latched onto his arm, eyes glinting with mischief.
If she surpassed everyone in the club, Tenra had agreed to grant her one wish—no matter what it was. That promise had been her fuel all along.
"Of course I haven't forgotten. Name it. As long as it's not too outrageous, I'll make it happen."
Kiryuu drew out the moment, glancing around at all the envious faces before finally declaring, "Go on a date with me, President!"
Go on a date… go on a date… go on a date…
Her words seemed to echo through the dojo. For a split second, there was stunned silence—then the club erupted.
"A-a date? Kiryuu, don't get ahead of yourself!"
"Yeah! The President already has a fiancée—how shameless can you get?!"
"President, turn her down! Reject her!"
Kiryuu just smirked, seeing right through their outrage. Please. Like you all wouldn't trade places with me in a heartbeat.
And sure enough, every girl's eyes burned with jealousy. If looks could kill, Kiryuu would've been sliced to ribbons.
"Are you sure, Kiryuu?"
Tenra's voice was teasing. "If you wanted, I could get you rare jewels, designer dresses—anything you want. You're certain this is your wish?"
Kiryuu's eyes flickered with temptation, but she shook her head, resolute. "A date. I want a date with the President. That's all."
Only Kiryuu could say something like that without a shred of shame. The other girls called her shameless, but deep down, they were dying of envy.
They wanted it too—a date with the club president.
"If that's what you want, then I'll make it happen."
Tenra took her hand, holding it gently. "Kiryuu, will you go on a date with me?"
Even if it was her wish, a date should still be asked by the guy.
For a moment, Kiryuu just stared, a little dazed by his gentle smile. He really thought of everything—even the little things.
"Yes! I'd love to!"
A bright, genuine smile bloomed on her face as she gave her answer.
