As we began walking deeper into the grove, I became aware of eyes watching us from the shadows between the trees. The wood nymphs were still here, but something had changed.
Instead of the predatory hunger I'd sensed before, there was now a palpable aura of... fear? Respect?
A rustling in the nearby bushes made Lin Yue raise her bow, but I held up a hand to stop her.
"Wait," I said quietly. "They're not attacking."
Indeed, as we continued forward, the forest spirits kept their distance, watching from behind ancient oaks and moss-covered stones. Their earlier seductive calls had been replaced by whispered conversations in their ethereal language. I caught fragments of meaning through my enhanced senses—words like "awakened one" and "lord of desire."
"Why aren't they bothering us?" Lin Yue asked, keeping her voice low. "Yesterday they seemed ready to... well, you know."
"Power recognizes power," I replied simply. "They sense the change."
We walked for hours through the pristine wilderness, following deer paths and stream beds deeper into the grove. The forest was beautiful in its ancient majesty—trees so old their trunks could house entire villages, flowers that glowed with inner light, streams that sang with crystalline voices.
But beneath the beauty lay danger. This was still the domain of spirit beasts and natural formations that could kill the unwary. I kept my senses alert, drawing on the new abilities granted by the inheritance to perceive threats before they materialized.
Around midday, we came upon a small clearing where a natural spring bubbled up from moss-covered rocks.
The water was crystal clear and radiated a faint spiritual energy that spoke of purity and healing.
"We can rest here," I decided Not because I was thirsty or wanted something given. Water and everything was present inside my blizzard palace. But exactly why I wanted to stand there was simply as I could see this water have spiritual energy and hopes immersed in it. And given how clean it looked. It was clear this was the home of that thing.
There is a very clear mention of this particular forest, that the roots within the purest water are the ones which rules the forest.
The ground trembled beneath our feet, clearly sending me the signal that we were not just alone to notice all this. Clearly, we were also just gotten noticed by the one who rules this forest of Whispering Grove.
ROOOOOAAAÀRRRR
The Forest Guardian's roars echoing like thunder behind us.
Massive trees cracked and fell in its wake, the ancient beast tearing through the forest with the fury of a living storm.
Its presence was overwhelming—a colossal serpent-like creature with scales that blended seamlessly with the bark and vines, eyes glowing with primordial rage.
This wasn't just a spirit beast; it was a guardian of the grove itself, awakened by the disturbances we'd caused.
"Now run!" I shouted over the chaos, my enhanced senses picking up the guardian's approach.
My reformed body moved with fluid grace, muscles coiling and releasing like well-oiled springs.
The inheritance's power coursed through me, sharpening my reflexes and boosting my qi reserves.
Mei Ling and Lin Yue ran beside me, their faces set in determination despite the fear in their eyes.
Lin Yue glanced back, her bow already in hand. "It's gaining! We can't outrun that thing forever!"
She was right. The guardian was no mere predator; it manipulated the forest itself.
Vines lashed out like whips from the trees, trying to ensnare our legs, while roots erupted from the soil to trip us.
Mei Ling blasted one away with a palm strike, her qi flaring blue and steady, amplified by the mysterious bond we'd formed during our trials.
"We don't run forever," I replied, spotting a narrow ravine ahead where the trees thinned. "We make a stand there—force it into a choke point."
We dove into the ravine, sliding down the steep embankment to a rocky stream bed below. The guardian's massive form crashed through the foliage above, its serpentine body coiling around trunks as it pursued.
Up close, it was even more terrifying—hundreds of feet long, with multiple heads branching from its vine-like neck, each fanged maw dripping with corrosive sap.
Lin Yue took position on a boulder, loosing arrow after arrow infused with her green-tinged qi. Each shaft struck true, embedding in the beast's scales and slowing its advance. "Aim for the eyes!" she called.
Mei Ling channeled her energy into protective barriers, shielding us from the guardian's whipping tails and spraying acid.
But the creature was relentless, its regeneration drawing from the grove's endless life force. One head lunged at me, jaws wide enough to swallow a horse whole.
Drawing on my new abilities, I activated the Beast Taming Aura—the skill unlocked from our earlier victory in the cave.
A subtle wave of commanding energy emanated from me, not domination, but a assertion of will that made lesser beasts hesitate.
The guardian recoiled slightly, its multiple eyes narrowing in confusion. It was no lesser beast, but the aura bought me precious seconds.
"Seize the moment!" I roared, leaping forward with enhanced strength.
My fist, empowered by the temporary boosts from essence absorption, slammed into one of the heads.
The impact cracked scales and sent shockwaves through the ravine, forcing the guardian to rear back.
Mei Ling followed up with a concentrated qi blast, severing a cluster of vines that served as the beast's tendons.
Lin Yue's arrows found their marks in the exposed joints, green energy corroding the regenerative tissue.
The guardian thrashed wildly, its roars shaking loose boulders that tumbled down the ravine walls.
One massive tail swept toward us, but I grabbed Mei Ling and Lin Yue, pulling them clear with a burst of speed. "Together—focus on the central core!"
United, we pressed the attack. My taming aura disrupted its coordination, Mei Ling's barriers held firm against counterattacks, and Lin Yue's precision strikes weakened its defenses.
Finally, with a combined assault—a qi-infused punch from me shattering its core while the women targeted the supporting heads—the guardian let out a final, earth-shaking bellow before collapsing into a mass of crumbling vines and fading energy.
The forest fell silent, as if holding its breath. Wisps of spiritual essence rose from the fallen beast, some absorbing into the grove, but a portion flowed toward me, further enhancing my cultivation.

We leaned against the ravine walls, catching our breath. Mei Ling wiped sweat from her brow, looking at me with newfound awe. "Tianlong... we just fought that beast inside the cave now this, we will mot survive for long."
Hearing their dilemma, I can understand I stood, as I could have left and not guided them directly towards the center of this forest arriving in this clean spring if not for the benefit I was going to get.
I turned towards the forest guardian, its viney body, before grabbing and started to pull in the direction of the spring, clearly making the women confused as they followed behind me. Arriving after some moment outside the spring, I threw the body directly into it before using my key to slice it into pieces.
As like the pouring rain, all of the vines fell within the spring as it started to glow, its water becoming more potent with energy.
"What is this—" Before the could their exclamation, I loosened my tie, removed the suit and moved forward, unbuttoning my pant I said, "It's the spiritual key of forest guardian, affinity is of trees related to nature. It might be a good place for us to dual cultivate."
"Y-you BASTARD!"
