Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Other Aeons and the Swarm Disaster

[Aha]: A Nameless wants to become a Masked Fool?

Hahaha, are you getting off the train?

Aha will personally give you a mask!

[After the fleeting figure of Elation vanishes, what follows is a maw vast enough to devour galaxies—

A body forged from black holes, an insatiable devourer, the ancient beast of yore:

Voracity · Oroboros

Then, one after another, the Aeons flash by at blinding speed.

"Hear the babe's laughter in the mirror (finale), the tide (flutter) slips into dreams (awareness), the scales crumble (cycle), heralding the unseen heir (the Revenant)."]

[Stelle]: That was way too much info all at once!

So many Aeons just flashed by without any proper introduction?

Even Aha got more respect than this!

[Argenti]: Praise be to you, Idrila the Beauty, peerless in grace and splendor!

We of the Knights of Beauty forever follow in your footsteps!

[Fu Xuan]: This allegory seems more than just an introduction to the Aeons…

[Jing Yuan]: Lady Fu is right.

These words appear to recount the tale of the Swarm Disaster.

[Herta]: Correct.

For the sake of constructing the Simulated Universe, we sought to simulate the Swarm Disaster.

According to my records, this was the cataclysm that swept across the cosmos—

where multiple Aeons perished, new gods arose, and entire civilizations were erased.

[Kiana]: Just how bad was this "Swarm Disaster" you're talking about?

Was it really that terrifying?

[Firefly]: The Swarm Disaster was a calamity that engulfed the universe upon the birth of the Aeon of Propagation, Tayzzyronth, and only ended with its demise.

But even after the Aeon fell, the remnants of the Swarm were not easily vanquished.

Even the Gramr Empire, which once reigned supreme over a domain spanning twenty thousand light-years…

Faced with the Swarm—unweakened by the loss of their god—they too vanished into the tides of history.

[Welt (HSR)]: According to the Astral Express archives, "Propagation" isn't merely about reproduction. Any act of numerical proliferation falls under its domain.

At the height of the Swarm Disaster, all forms of growth—whether newborn lives or factory-produced goods—were assimilated into True Sting under the Swarm King's Pathstrider power.

In this endless cycle of propagation and assimilation, countless civilizations were devoured and destroyed.

[Raven]: What an unimaginable horror… Thankfully, the Swarm has long since faded from the universe.

For a civilization yet to step into the stars, this is far too nightmarish to comprehend.

[Topaz]: Maybe we should shift focus to the other Aeons that appeared?

Miss Topaz attempts to lighten the mood in the chat.

[Fictional Historian A]: Our enigmatic leader, Mythus?

He sought to unveil all knowledge in existence, to rid the world of ignorance—only to be thwarted by Nous, forced to watch as the universe twisted into its current state.

[Gallagher]: "Fictional Historians," my foot.

Look at them—a bunch of Mythus zealots spewing lies, trying to rewrite history and drown the world in uncertainty.

They claim that "all things can be known" is mere delusion, that life foolishly extrapolates unsolved mysteries from limited patterns—

Blind to the truth that the cosmos is unfathomable, that "truth" itself is illusion.

[Luocha]: The Aeon of Order, Ena, fell long ago, absorbed and dissolved into Harmony.

Yet during the Swarm Disaster, it was Ena who first clashed with Tayzzyronth… only to perish on that battlefield as well.

[Dan Heng]: The Aeon of Equilibrium, HooH—

He believes mortals prattle of "cause and effect" as if it were some simple chain, ignorant of the intricate topology underlying all phenomena.

HooH dissolves His will into the veins of cosmic logic, eternally maintaining balance and stability across all existence.

Those who meddle tirelessly seek flaws in His system, arrogantly believing their intellect surpasses an Aeon's—

Unaware they are but strings of data under His watch, trapped within His meticulously woven net.

[Raiden Mei]: So He is an Aeon who upholds equilibrium…

[Black Swan]: Allow me to introduce Fuli, the Aeon of Remembrance.

Remembrance holds that thought is existence, and memory is proof of existence.

Nothing in this world is more impartial than pure memory: it records all without disdain or favor;

It selflessly preserves every fundamental fact, every wondrous form.

It is a river forged from countless lives, a treasure hoard piled high with ancient wisdom—

And Fuli is both the fish swimming upstream and the key to that vault.

Seated at the heart of His pure land, He silently observes all things endlessly repeating their follies.

We Remembrance Memokeeper exist to collect memories for Fuli, recording all that has been forgotten.

[Incinerator A]: You glorified trash collectors!

These worthless memories are nothing but burdens to an Aeon—garbage that should be tossed into the incinerator and reduced to ash!

[Kiana]: Uh… should I just get used to this?

Every Aeon seems to have factions, and most of them hate each other's guts.

[Otto]: Sometimes heretics are more detestable than heathens.

[The recitation of prophecies nears its end as the final Aeon manifests:

"In the end, measure this world with your body, engrave all things upon your heart."

Trailblaze · Akivili

A train streaks across the starry sky, accompanied by countless meteors as it journeys toward unknown horizons.

*"They say this is the path you must walk—Akivili (Trailblazer), set forth (bind worlds) once more!

Akivili (Trailblazer)!"*

"Countless stars streak across tonight's sky—if you choose the right one… it will carry your wish to a thousand worlds."

Finally, the narrator of these prophecies slowly closes the book of existence.]

[Kiana]: That train can actually travel through space?!

Is this what that other "Himeko-nee" rides?!

Hey Mei, do you think our world could ever build something like that?

[Bronya Zaychik]: Idiot Kiana.

Our technological level isn't advanced enough yet—we can't create such a miraculous vehicle at present.

[Kevin]: That train… looks almost like Second Divine Key.

[Vill-V]: Kevin, have you lost your mind after being away for so long?

As much as I hate to admit it, my 2nd Divine Key doesn't have interstellar travel capabilities.

[Aha]: Akivili… my finest Elation Emissary… why did you have to leave?

At least your train remains—I'll board it soon to reminisce about you~

[Pom-Pom]: You!

Stay off this train, Pom-Pom forbids it!
