Chapter 7 - CHAPTER SEVEN

Now today is the day a new Alpha is to be appointed.

The entire pack was buzzing with excitement.Every member of the pack is expected to be there.

Did I want to be there?

No.

But I had to be.

I got dressed ,gathered what pieces remained of me, followed my parents towards the hall where the new Alpha will be appointed.

Kenneth wasn't the only candidate but everyone already knew the outcome. The other candidates were all staged to look like it was a competition.

Kenneth wore a smug look.

Alpha Gerald the outgoing Alpha stood on an elevated platform giving his speech.

"Leadership is not about dominance alone," he declared "but the strength to carry forward the legacy of our bloodline...…"

Then it happened.

A sudden shift in the air.

So sharp that it cut through the hall like a blade. It didn't just feel like a chill, it was a force.

A force that sent shivers to the bones.

It silenced the murmurs.

It suppressed everyone.

Even Alpha Gerald had stopped talking mid sentence and instinctively lowered his shoulders.

The presence that entered was ancient, dominant, and unignorable.

My wolf felt him first. She let out a tiny growl, pacing restless; she couldn't speak.

Then I saw him.

OH MOON GODDESS.

My breath hitched.

He walked in with the same deliberate calm he had that night but this time it was more powerful, more terrifying, more real.

He was no longer a mystery, he was here, in the heart of our pack. Walking like he belonged. Like he ruled.

A man trailed a step behind him silently, clearly his subordinate.

But it was him the stranger from the night

The Lycan that held everyone's breath.

He stood tall in the center of the hall, his black coat clinging to his powerful frame. His eyes now glowed red.

Around us, the elders stiffened.

One by one they bowed.

Others were driven by instincts, they didn't understand why but they did. Some people shook as they lowered their heads.

And even Alpha Gerald our leader, our judge, the pride of the New Haven pack reduced himself in the presence of this stranger.

Yet he hadn't even spoken a word.

But his presence screamed louder than any Alpha ever had.

The silence was thick, no one dared move.

Then came a Voice that was smooth, low, undeniably commanding. "It's been a while, Alpha Gerald."

I blinked.

He wasn't talking to the crowd.

His red eyes finally lifted and locked on Alpha Gerald.

"Yes my lord, it has."

My lord?

The entire hall seems to lean in.

"We almost forgot," he continued, his voice certain,"Who runs the New Haven pack."

Alpha Gerald stiffened like a pub who had been caught off guard in his own den.

Around the room the elders shifted, like they knew this was going to happen, like they had warned about it. Others looked at Reign in awe. No one dared to speak.

Then he added voice low and sharp. "I see you have forgotten the hierarchy of the bloodline."

Alpha Gerald shivered.

His presence was undeniable.

My wolf had gone completely still. Submitting totally.

Then he gave a nod his red eyes moved from Alpha Gerald to the rest of the pack members.

"Zeke,tell them."

The tall man who had tailed behind him came forward, his voice deep and clear.

"By law and blood, each territory falls under the dominion of the pure-blooded,the Lycans. The New Haven Pack lies under the sovereignty of Reign Salvatore. It is his by right."

Everyone in the room stiffened.Every truth we thought we knew fractured.

That is when it hit me.

His name was Reign Salvatore.

The New Haven pack didn't belong to Alpha Gerald, it belonged to him.

He outranked every single person in this pack.

And I mated with him.

The shock was written all over my face.

His eyes swept across the pack in commanding silence, they stopped on me.

For a moment they didn't move.

My breath hitched.

My wolf froze.

I looked down immediately, I couldn't hold the stare.

The man who had trailed behind him, continued addressing the pack.

"The appointment of a new Alpha will be postponed until further notice, by order of Lord Reign Salvatore."

That was it. No room for debate.

The hall slowly emptied, murmurs rising like smoke. But no one dared to question him.

I didn't wait, I slipped away,fast.

My head was spinning.

I have mated a stranger.

And the stranger turned out to be the ruler of the entire pack.
