Chapter 10: Simulation: Elena Cruz, Part 2
[HYDRA Safehouse, Night – Simulation, Age 22, Year 5]
Adam, still in Elena Cruz's body, felt a rush of power as he confronted Agent Voss. The fight was a blur of motion, a dance of blades and fists. Adam's newfound stealth tactics made him a ghost in the dark, his movements a silent, deadly ballet.
[PROGRESS: ENHANCED STEALTH TACTICS UNLOCKED.]
[In the fifth year, you confront Agent Voss, using Basic Stealth Tactics. You unlock Enhanced Stealth Tactics.]
"Enhanced stealth? I'm a ninja now! Come on, old man, you're going down," Adam taunted, his words a taunt in the dark.
"You're finished, SHIELD dog!" Voss snarled, his eyes scanning the room, unable to pinpoint Adam's location.
"Finished? Buddy, I'm just getting started. I'm sneaking up!" Adam said, a fake SHIELD signal he'd created with a quick tap of his fingers making a nearby monitor flash with a glaring red logo. Voss, startled, tripped over a chair in his haste.
"Good move, Cruz," Natasha's voice was a low murmur over the comms.
"Move? I'm a shadow, Romanoff. A shadow with style," Adam said, as he wrapped the man's hands in a web of his own making.
"Voss is tough, but I'm tougher. My new skills are amazing. This is going to be a breeze," Adam thought, a confident grin on his face.
[SHIELD Facility, Morning – Simulation, Age 25, Year 8]
[In the eighth year, you train with Natasha, mastering Enhanced Stealth Tactics. SHIELD promotes you.]
The years bled into one another, a montage of silent training and quiet missions. Adam's mastery of stealth grew, his movements becoming more fluid and natural.
[PROGRESS: ENHANCED STEALTH TACTICS AT 50%.]
"50%? I'm invisible! It's like I'm not even here," Adam boasted to Natasha, but a small misstep caused him to knock over a stack of files. The loud thud echoed in the silent room.
"Control it, Cruz," Natasha said, her face a mask of annoyance.
"Control? I'm a ghost, a free spirit!" Adam replied, shrugging playfully.
"She's a hazard," an agent mumbled.
"A hazard with flair, buddy!" Adam called back, a laugh in his voice.
"SHIELD's impressed with me. They have to be. Time to shine," Adam thought, his pride swelling.
[City Rooftops, Afternoon – Simulation, Age 30, Year 13]
[In the thirteenth year, you sabotage a HYDRA cell, using Enhanced Stealth Tactics. You face a choice: expose or destroy the cell.]
Adam stood on a rooftop, looking down at a HYDRA cell. He was a silent sentinel in the dark. The System presented him with a choice.
[CHOICE: EXPOSE OR DESTROY CELL.]
"Destroy. Let's end 'em. No half measures," Adam said, his voice grim. The stakes were too high for a simple exposure.
"Good call, Cruz," Natasha said, her voice laced with approval.
"Good? I'm epic, Romanoff. Legendary!" Adam said, his eyes fixed on the target. He moved down, a shadow in the night. A spy inside the building paused, a look of unease on his face. "Someone's here!" he whispered.
"Just a shadow," Adam replied, a low, ominous laugh in his voice. He used his enhanced stealth to short a comm in the building, the resulting static a jarring intrusion in the quiet of the night.
"Destroying feels right. It feels like the right thing to do," Adam thought, a cold sense of resolve settling in his gut.
[HYDRA Cell Base, Evening – Simulation, Age 35, Year 18]
[In the eighteenth year, you destroy the HYDRA cell, refining Enhanced Stealth Tactics. A larger threat emerges.]
The years passed. Adam's reputation as a ghost, a silent saboteur, grew. He'd destroyed the HYDRA cell with brutal efficiency.
[PROGRESS: ENHANCED STEALTH TACTICS AT 70%.]
"70%? I'm a stealth legend! Nobody can see me now," Adam boasted, a grin on his face. He'd used his powers to create a fake alert, sending the spies into a panic.
"Intruder!" one of the spies yelled.
"Intruder with style!" Adam retorted, a small smirk on his face as the spy knocked over a crate in their frenzy.
"Nice work, Cruz," Natasha's voice was a low hum of approval over the comms.
"Work? Romanoff, I'm invisible. It's not work when you're this good," Adam said, a proud smile on his face.
"Bigger threats are coming," an agent warned.
"More threats? I'm ready for them. I'll get more powers. I'll be the best," Adam thought, his eyes burning with determination as he prepared for the next challenge.
