When Zalyric finally came back to his senses, the fog in his mind lifted like mist after a storm. His body felt lighter and the unbearable pain of his rut was completely gone. For the first time in days, he could breathe freely but as his eyes adjusted to the dim light of his chamber, a strange unease stirred in his chest.
He then shifted slightly—
and froze.
There, lying beside him was Rowan, naked.
That made Zalyric's entire body went rigid, his breath catching in his throat as his gaze trailed over the younger man. Rowan's pale skin was littered with bite marks and bruises along his neck, shoulders, even down to his chest. His nipples were also reddened and swollen with faint traces of Zalyric's scent still clinging to his body.
Sheets also tangled around his waist, barely concealing the evidence of what had happened between them last night.
"W-what…?" His voice cracked, hoarse and unsteady as horror began to settle in. "Fuck…"
