Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Seeds of Madness Born from Endless Despair

"Boss, later when we get there, how about we first..."

One of the underlings following Zagg from behind made a throat-cutting gesture while whispering.

Seeing Kuro just quietly focused on leading the way ahead.

Zagg sneered: "Unexplored areas are very dangerous, keep him for now. If there's danger, we can throw him as bait."

The three men laughed with mutual understanding, following Kuro ahead closely.

"We're here!"

Kuro pointed at the crystal in front.

After one night, the crystal that had been destroyed before had recovered.

Before they could realize he'd been playing them, Kuro decisively stepped forward and smashed it again!

Seeing that hole, the excited Zagg prepared to enter, but before entering he was stopped by his underling.

Zagg turned and saw his underling nod toward Kuro.

"You go in first!"

Zagg pointed his weapon at the dark hole.

Kuro entered without looking back.

The three men followed with happy faces, it seemed this sickly old man was telling the truth.

After entering the tunnel, after experiencing several waves of monster feasts consisting only of goblins, the three men were truly delighted.

In just a short time, they'd already gotten results that usually took several hours.

As for Kuro, a newcomer who'd only been an adventurer for less than a week, how to deal with him?

On the way back, they'd just "encounter" monsters by chance.

Coincidentally on this sixth floor, the death of new adventurers was the most normal thing - this was the origin of the nickname "rookie killer."

The three men frantically harvested the continuously spawning goblins, while Kuro was forced to be support, constantly picking up magic stones that fell to the ground behind them.

For the three men, happy times were always short.

Quickly one day passed, their bags were all full, estimated to be nearly one hundred thousand valis.

Feeling the characteristic weight of magic stones from their backpacks, Zagg's trio had already started imagining the scene of drinking god's wine tonight.

They just needed to finish off that trash on the way back, and everything here would belong to the three of them.

Facing the barely concealed malicious intent of the three men, even an idiot could guess what they were thinking.

If only Zagg's trio had been alert enough, they would have discovered that Kuro, who was silently following them from behind, was somewhat strange.

Since entering the cave, he'd hardly ever raised his head.

Unfortunately, the three men who were already mesmerized by wealth from heaven no longer cared about the condition of someone who was about to die.

But compared to Kuro, the three men were clearly far more professional at killing monsters, with no unnecessary movements, facing attacking goblins they all delivered fatal blows.

Throughout the day until reaching the end of the tunnel.

Indeed, even though the three men were trash, years of adventurer careers weren't for nothing.

The end of the tunnel was a somewhat spacious room, in the center was a large throne made of stacked stones.

Currently, a fat giant goblin with a crown on its head was sitting slumped on it.

"Boss, that's an enhanced species, should we advance or not!"

Seeing the monster that was clearly much larger than ordinary goblins, Zagg's underling was somewhat worried.

"Just an ordinary goblin, even if it's an enhanced species how strong can it be. Hey sickly old man, you go distract it."

Kicked from behind, Kuro staggered several steps into the room, almost falling.

The strange red that kept appearing in those eyes suddenly surged, rage continuously burning in his heart, his chest like a volcano about to erupt.

But the volcano's mouth seemed blocked by something.

Kuro knew, that was the shackle called morality.

'Still not enough, still not enough.'

Kuro needed an opportunity.

ROAR~

The giant goblin that saw prey appear immediately grabbed the giant axe beside the throne and swung it horizontally at Kuro.

The giant axe carrying fierce wind struck Kuro's long sword that was blocking horizontally.

The tremendous force immediately threw Kuro several meters, slamming him hard to the ground, raising flying dust.

"Can't even withstand one goblin attack, truly trash is trash. But since he didn't die, this monster isn't strong, let's advance."

Seeing Kuro struggle twice but couldn't get up, Zagg was sure that the monster in front couldn't even kill a new adventurer, so he brought his underlings to attack.

As Zagg said, even though it was an enhanced species, it was still just a goblin.

After hard work, Zagg and his two underlings successfully defeated it.

Looking happily at the magic stone and axe that fell to the ground, this was big money again.

Today's results kept breaking Zagg's earning records.

After this, they just needed to kill that trash, and the secret here would only belong to the three of them.

Thinking this, Zagg secretly glanced at his underlings who were laughing loudly while examining the axe, a glint of killing intent appearing in his eyes.

The danger level here wasn't too high, he could handle it alone, plus he still had an ace up his sleeve.

Continuing to calculate in his heart, Zagg spoke to both of them.

"Alright, it's getting late today too, let's go back first. Tomorrow we'll continue."

"Yes, boss!"

"Okay, boss!"

The three men turned around ready to leave here, but suddenly found that Kuro who had been lying on the ground had disappeared.

Zagg was very shocked and immediately shouted.

"Chase him quickly, don't let that bastard escape."

Seeing the possibility of this place being exposed, the three men didn't care about cleaning up the weak goblins appearing again along the way, rushing toward the exit.

But they hadn't run far when they encountered many goblins.

"That bastard?!!" Zagg knew he'd been deceived, cursing somewhat frantically.

"This is monster offering, that bastard wants to drag us down even if he dies!"

"Boss, what do we do?"

Monster offering, behavior like transfer aggro, moving many monsters attacking oneself to other adventurers through positioning.

Inside the goblin nest, even though monster feasts were very frequent, what appeared were almost all weak goblins of the lowest level. As long as they were cleared quickly, it was like a living valis farming machine.

But what if you ignored the spawning goblins and kept running fast?

Zagg's trio, surrounded by an endless sea of green goblins, would tell you that many ants really could kill an elephant.

The three men stood back to back, with green goblins visible to the edge of their vision.

Goblins swaying like green waves continuously crashed into them.

"Can't do it boss, no more strength."

The three men who had been killing goblins all day were already low on stamina, and soon were panting.

As for stamina potions and such, rather than having money to spare it was better to buy more god's wine.

Under the threat of death, Zagg very reluctantly took out a short sword glowing with yellow earth light from his chest and swung it hard forward.

"BOOOOM!!!"

The rumbling sound of thunder echoed, many goblins were swept into ash by lightning.

"Good thing I still have a magic sword, or we'd really die here this time."

Even though magic swords were powerful, their usage was very limited.

But it was enough to give the three men time to rest.

After a while, facing the sea of monsters that would swallow the three men again, Zagg had to swing the magic sword once more.

CRACK!!

The rumbling sound mixed with shattering sounds.

Finally, along with the destruction of the magic sword, the sea of goblins surrounding the three men was also almost depleted.

The walls and floor damaged by the magic sword's attacks were being repaired by the dungeon.

"Hah hah~"

Zagg breathed heavily, but seeing the magic stones almost covering the floor, he laughed loudly.

Even though the magic stones here were very low level, there were many of them.

Not only could it make up for the loss of that magic sword, but it would also be a huge profit.

'That bastard probably never expected that even in death, the trap he set would make me rich.'

Tap! Tap! Tap!

Suddenly in the empty cave came the sound of footsteps.

Following the sound, Zagg saw a scene he would remember forever!

A monster-like human figure burning with black flames stepped out of the darkness, a pair of crazy red eyes staring at him sharply.

"Die die die die....."

Being stared at by those red eyes full of madness and chaos, Zagg's hair stood on end, a chill immediately shot to his scalp - this was instinctive fear of death.

His beast instincts warned him frantically.

Even though he desperately wanted to run, his legs wouldn't stop trembling.

From the corner of his eye seeing his two underlings were worse off than him, now already sitting on the ground.

If he didn't do something he'd definitely die here, Zagg bit down hard on his tongue tip.

The pain stimulated his brain making him temporarily suppress his fear, turned to run, as for his underlings, there were plenty more in the familia anyway.

Right now the most important thing was staying alive.

PAK!

Zagg who had just turned around and taken a step immediately fell to the ground.

'Why did I fall?'

The confusion in his brain hadn't cleared when it was covered by intense pain.

Looking down, both legs that used to be there were gone from the knees down, replaced by black flames continuously burning at the cut.

"AAAHHH!!!"

The black flames seemed to have special effects, the pain from burning far exceeded ordinary fire.

Zagg screamed in pain on the ground, reaching out his hands wanting to put out the flames.

But a black sword flash passed, Zagg saw both his outstretched hands fly into the air, turning to black ash in the air.

"Ah~ aahhhh~ ah!!!"

Looking at Zagg rolling and struggling on the ground, Kuro shrouded in black flames smiled eerily.

"Finally... finally can use it!"

Kuro stared at his burning hands while muttering.

"Hehe, haha, hahaha!!!"

Actually when Kuro learned his skill was Flame of Revenge, he suddenly remembered Ais from the original story - even though she had such a powerful skill, why wouldn't she use it.

But when he himself possessed this power, Kuro hesitated, he somewhat understood Ais's feelings.

It wasn't that she didn't want to use it, but was afraid.

What if after using it she couldn't control it and hurt the people around her?

And the reality was indeed so, the only time Ais used Avenger resulted in the entire familia almost immediately perishing in the dungeon.

At that time Kuro still thought, as a first-level adventurer, didn't she have even a little willpower.

But when the lid on Kuro's chest was opened, the hatred suppressed for so long gushed out like lava.

Kuro suddenly understood why humans were emotional beings.

Because right now he just wanted to skin alive the person beneath him.

Every second that passed, his revenge multiplied threefold.

Stepping on Zagg's chest, Kuro immediately held down his struggling body.

And Zagg finally saw clearly the face of the monster in front of him.

"It's you, you tra..."

Swoosh!

Zagg had just opened his mouth when Kuro immediately thrust his sword into his shoulder.

"Never told you my name before, right? My name is Kuro." Kuro lowered his head to speak.

Finished speaking, without waiting for Zagg's reaction, his right hand holding the sword pulled down.

"Ah! I was wrong, please let me go."

Ignoring Zagg, Kuro laughed while moving.

Kuro understood, Zagg didn't know he was wrong, but knew he was going to die.

"Deceiving me was fun, wasn't it? Threatening me made you happy, didn't it? Trampling on the weak felt good, right!"

Mercilessly releasing the hatred accumulated for so long, maybe most of it had nothing to do with the person under his feet.

But so what!

The recovery of memory didn't just bring back reason, but also emotions.

The flames of revenge hidden at the bottom of his heart would only burn his already severely damaged heart.

Kuro could barely stand it anymore.

Morality, ethics, reason... all had evaporated when the black flames appeared!

The terrifying screams echoing in the cave continued for a long time, until finally gradually weakening.

Seeing Zagg on his last breath, Kuro sighed.

'My torture techniques are still too few.'

In Kuro's knowledge, the most cruel method was just skinning alive.

Even though Zagg looked very miserable, lying on the ground trembling.

But this was all just physical pain, Kuro endured almost the same or even worse pain all the time.

Delivering the final thrust, Zagg who breathed his last was consumed by black flames, ending his sinful life.

In the end only a little ash remained, like a monster that died.
