"Are you sure it's safe to study this?" Nick Fury asked.
Since the video three months ago, everyone knew a lot more, including the Tesseract's function and the various Infinity Stones.
The crushing combat power of Thanos put immense psychological pressure on them.
Bruce Banner had comforted them, saying that their timeline was fundamentally different from the Sacred Timeline, so saving the world might not require following the Sacred Timeline's methods.
But this didn't ease their minds much, because Thanos's strength was almost a given.
That one time they seemed to have a chance was really a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Thanos had actually returned to Titan alone, apparently waiting for Ebony Maw.
Otherwise, he had many powerful subordinates, and his armies were endless, a terrifying legion capable of destroying planet after planet.

"It shouldn't happen!" Tony Stark said. "The Tesseract is currently in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s underground base. It's impossible to breach from the outside. The only way in is from within. The only ones we know who can teleport on their own are Loki and Thanos.
Based on our previous estimates, Thanos probably fears Ancient One and Odin, so he's unlikely to come charging in. After all, he needs to succeed in his grand plan and can't afford to be defeated here.
"So, it's highly likely they'll send Loki.
