Chapter 126: A Piggyback Ride
Because they didn't drink and had smaller appetites, Shisui and the others quickly finished their meals.
"Looks like they're going to be eating for a while," Hoshikawa said, casually glancing at Tsunade.
"Do we have to wait for them?" Kurenai asked.
"You don't have to," Hoshikawa said after thinking for a moment. "I'll take my sensei home." He was worried Tsunade might get too drunk. Kurenai didn't say anything else; she knew Tsunade could be very unreliable at times.
"Heading back now?" Obito asked, looking at Rin. "While there's still time, how about I show you around the Uchiha compound?"
"I'd like that," Rin said with a slight nod. "Are you guys going?" She had already promised Obito before, so it felt rude to refuse now.
"Let's all go," Asuma said, getting up. "It'll be boring to go back anyway." Despite being the Hokage's son, he had never toured the Uchiha clan's district before.
"Aren't you afraid of the Hokage hearing that?" Hoshikawa asked with a smile.
"He's not here, what's there to be afraid of?" Asuma asked, subconsciously looking around.
"You never know," Hoshikawa said, spreading his hands. Hiruzen had his crystal ball, and since it was a big event for the Uchiha clan, he was probably peeking in.
"So what if he knows? I'm not scared of him!" Asuma said with a huff.
"Let's go," Obito said, ignoring them. He was full of enthusiasm. "Rin, I'm telling you, the Uchiha clan has a lot of interesting places."
Hoshikawa and the others followed him as they left the dining area. The Uchiha compound was indeed huge, with everything a small Hidden Leaf Village would have. Everyone was intrigued.
"That river is the Naka River!" Obito said, pointing.
Hoshikawa instinctively looked. Under the lamplight, the river was calm and peaceful, looking quite ordinary. He wondered where the Naka Shrine was. He remembered it was downstream of the Naka River. The shrine held a stone tablet with a message that only the Uchiha could read. The tablet had influenced many people, including Madara Uchiha. Of course, the content they read had already been tampered with by Black Zetsu.
"Up ahead is the clan leader's house," Shisui said, stopping. "The clan leader isn't here, and the clan leader's wife is resting. We shouldn't disturb her."
"Maybe not," Obito said, glancing at Rin. "I think she'd be happy to see us."
"I'll go ask," Shisui said after a few seconds of hesitation. He walked up to the guards at the door and spoke with them. A few moments later, the door opened, and a black-haired young woman walked out.
"Auntie Mikoto," Shisui greeted politely.
"Shisui," Mikoto Uchiha said with a gentle smile. "Tell your friends to come in for some tea."
"Yes," Shisui said, turning to Hoshikawa and the others and repeating the invitation.
"I knew it!" Obito said proudly. "I... we have a lot of influence!"
"Let's go," Shisui said. He was already familiar with Obito's personality and didn't say any more.
"Hoshikawa , it's been a while. Did Tsunade-sama come tonight?" Mikoto noticed Hoshikawa immediately. He was tall and handsome, so he was hard to miss.
"Yes," Hoshikawa said, nodding slightly.
"That's good," Mikoto said with a smile. "It's an honor for the Uchiha clan to have Tsunade-sama here."
Obito's face froze, and he felt a pang of annoyance. An honor for what? Damn it!Is it so great to have a good sensei? He had thought that in the Uchiha compound, no one would be able to steal his thunder, but it was Hoshikawa again.
"Come in and sit down," Mikoto said, opening the door after a quick chat. Hoshikawa and the others walked into the living room. In front of the sofa, a baby carriage caught their attention.
"This is Itachi Uchiha," Mikoto said, walking toward it, her voice filled with tenderness.
"He's so cute!" Kurenai said with an amazed expression.
"He looks like you, Auntie Mikoto. He's going to be very handsome," Rin said, looking at him.
"You two are so sweet," Mikoto said, smiling happily.
Hoshikawa 's expression was strange. He didn't know what to say. The thought of the future made it hard for him to stay calm. Of course, the present was the present, and the future was the future. Because of his butterfly effect, many things had already changed, and whether the future events would even happen was an unknown. Mikoto quickly brought out hot tea. After drinking their tea and chatting for a while, they all said their goodbyes.
"It's about time. I'll go find my sensei," Hoshikawa said, looking at the sky. "See you all tomorrow."
"Okay," Kurenai said, waving to him. "Get home safe."
Hoshikawa headed back to the courtyard. The lively 100th-day celebration was coming to an end, and most of the guests had left.
"Tsunade-sama, please don't drink anymore. You've had so much already, you're going to get drunk," Minato Namikaze said, trying to persuade her.
"Drunk? You dare to underestimate me! I... I can still drink!" Tsunade glared at him and grabbed another cup. Minato's head started to ache. It was a no-win situation. He couldn't stop her, but he couldn't let her continue either. Just then, his eyes lit up, and he quickly called out, "Hoshikawa !"
"Minato-senpai," Hoshikawa said, looking at the red-faced Tsunade. "Has my sensei been a trouble for you?"
"Brat!" Tsunade asked, annoyed. "What... what do you mean by that?"
"No trouble! No trouble at all!" Minato said, shaking his head.
"Let's go home, Sensei," Hoshikawa said, snatching the cup from her hand.
"Give it back!" Tsunade said, looking up and glaring at him. Minato's heart skipped a beat. If Tsunade-sama got angry, would she cause a scene in the Uchiha compound? He was already considering using his Flying Thunder God Jutsu to forcibly take her away before things got out of hand.
"You can drink again next time," Hoshikawa said, completely unfazed.
"I... you're... you're a..." Tsunade frowned, pointing at him, her face full of frustration.
"Sensei, you don't want me to stop going to the casino with you, do you?" Hoshikawa interrupted her tirade, leaning in and whispering into her ear.
Tsunade's body trembled, and her eyes suddenly cleared up. She stood up and wobbled as she walked toward the exit.
"..." Minato's face was full of questions. How did he do that? People who knew Tsunade, like him, knew she was a chaotic force. No one could reason with her, but Hoshikawa had managed to control her. He was truly impressive!
"Sensei, be careful," Hoshikawa said, quickly walking up to her and supporting her by her waist.
"Brat!" Tsunade wrapped her arms around him and leaned against him. "I... I'll remember this! You threatened me today!" A mix of pleasant scents filled his senses. Hoshikawa felt her soft weight on his shoulder. He steadied himself and said, "Yes, it's all my fault."
"Huh?" Tsunade was stunned. "Why... why are you apologizing?"
"Because I made Sensei angry, didn't I?" Hoshikawa said with a smile.
Tsunade looked at him, feeling a little dazed. When she came back to her senses, she reached out and pinched his cheek a couple of times.
"Forget it. Sensei forgives you!" Tsunade said with a wave of her hand.
"Thank you, Sensei." Hoshikawa was happy to see her adorable, muddled side and didn't hold it against her.
"I'm so tired!" Tsunade walked a few more steps, shook her head, and suddenly pulled Hoshikawa in front of her. In the next second, she leaped up, wrapped her arms around his neck, and her legs around his waist.
"..." Hoshikawa was caught off guard and froze. A beautiful woman just ran and jumped at me! He didn't even have time to react. Hoshikawa instinctively crossed his arms and supported her bottom.
"Sensei?" Hoshikawa turned his head to look at her, but Tsunade had already closed her eyes and fallen asleep. With her every breath, Hoshikawa could feel the weight on his back. This is a real struggle, he thought, shaking his head. He carried her home.
Standing at the front door, he struggled to open it. Hoshikawa didn't take off his shoes and went straight to Tsunade's room. After calling out to her twice with no response, he had no choice but to back up to the bed and try to lay her down. But the next second, with a sudden push, he was lying down, too. Only he wasn't on the bed.
"..." Hoshikawa pried her arms open and stood up. He looked at Tsunade, who was lying sprawled out on the bed, looking completely relaxed. Hoshikawa took one look and didn't dare to look again. He bent down and took off her shoes. A pair of fair, jade-like feet with a hint of pink were exposed before him. Hoshikawa tucked them under the blankets and left the room.
The next day, Tsunade sat up, holding her head, feeling dizzy. She knew it was because she had drunk too much yesterday. She couldn't blame herself. Who could resist the good sake the Uchiha clan had prepared?
"How... how did I get back?" Tsunade said, rubbing her forehead as her memories slowly came back. When she remembered her actions from yesterday, her face flushed with embarrassment. It was strange. She had never been like this when she was drunk before. As one of the best ninjas, she would never lower her guard, no matter how drunk she was. Besides, she had the Yin Seal, and sobering up was just a thought away.
Was it because I trusted that brat too much? Tsunade licked her lips, feeling thirsty. She grabbed the cup of water from her bedside table and drank it. She froze. The water was still warm. That was impossible. Tsunade immediately got out of bed. She opened the door and heard some faint sounds. She followed the sounds to the kitchen and saw Hoshikawa busy at work.
"Good morning, Sensei," Hoshikawa said without turning around.
"When did you get here?" Tsunade asked, stunned.
"A little while ago. Maybe about ten minutes," Hoshikawa said, pausing. "Go get ready; breakfast will be ready soon."
"Okay," Tsunade said softly, looking at Hoshikawa , lost in thought.
