Chapter 73: Come Here, Let's Sleep Together (Part 2)
A new day.
At the dinner table, Yuhi Kurenai was sulking. She had just found out that Hanekawa was going on a mission today. That wasn't the main point; the main point was that he wouldn't be back for one or two weeks, or even longer.
"Kurenai," Yuhi Shinku glared at Hanekawa, then forced a smile on his face. "Would you like some milk? I'll pour you some."
"No!" Kurenai turned her face away, not giving him any face at all.
Yuhi Shinku's expression stiffened, and he was at a loss for words.
"Kurenai, this was a sudden development. I only found out last night," Hanekawa said, pouring a cup of milk and handing it to her. "I'll take you with me next time there's a chance."
"Really?" Kurenai immediately turned her head to look at him.
"Of course." Hanekawa nodded slightly. "I promise."
Normally, after graduating from the Ninja Academy, ninjas are assigned to a team. Hanekawa had already decided to get Tsunade to pull some strings to get Kurenai on his team. As for the other person, he hadn't decided yet.
"Okay!" Kurenai took the milk and happily took a sip.
Yuhi Shinku, who had been completely ignored, subconsciously clenched his fists.
Damn you, Hanekawa! You better take good care of Kurenai!
Yuhi Shinku sighed. What could he do? He was feeling quite helpless.
"Can you see the ocean when you go to the Land of Water?" Kurenai asked curiously.
"I should be able to," Hanekawa said, taking a bite of his egg roll. "Do you like the ocean?"
"Not really, I just want to see it." Kurenai pushed her milk towards him. "You can have it."
"No, thanks." Hanekawa shook his head. "I can pour my own."
"I can't finish it," Kurenai said, a little embarrassed.
"Then can I have it?" Yuhi Shinku couldn't help but ask.
"Dad, you're a grown-up, why are you still drinking milk?" Kurenai quickly refused.
Alright! That's how it is, huh?
His heart finally gave up. Yuhi Shinku was completely shattered. There was no hope for this daughter anymore.
After breakfast, Hanekawa and Kurenai left the house.
"Remember to come back soon," Kurenai said, feeling a little down as they were about to part.
"I will," Hanekawa said, patting her head. "Can you help me explain to Kakashi and the others that I won't be able to train with them for a while?"
"Okay," Kurenai nodded.
"You should go to school now," Hanekawa said, pulling his hand away and looking at her.
Kurenai dawdled, looking back and forth. It took her more than ten seconds to finally say goodbye and leave. Hanekawa waved at her and turned to walk towards the village gate.
At the gate, two guards, who were the village's "door gods," checked his paperwork before letting him pass. As a ninja, you couldn't just leave the village as you pleased; you had to get the Hokage's permission.
Hanekawa didn't go far, he just stood there waiting for Tsunade. He took the opportunity to observe the two gate guards. It was clear they weren't Kotetsu and Izumo from the original story.
"Sensei, you're late!" Hanekawa couldn't help but complain when he saw Tsunade fifteen minutes later.
"Being late is a teacher's privilege," Tsunade said, raising her hand and flicking his forehead. "Don't be so nosy, kid!"
"But you're a ninja—mmph!" Hanekawa only managed to get two words out before Tsunade covered his mouth. A faint, pleasant scent filled his nostrils. Hanekawa resisted the urge to bite her.
"During a mission, you obey your teacher's orders, understood?" Tsunade asked, letting go.
"Understood," Hanekawa said, his mouth twitching. You're bigger, so you're right.
"Take out the map," Tsunade said with a satisfied smile. "The first thing you have to do is plan a suitable route."
"Yes." Hanekawa took out the map he had bought yesterday. The Land of Water was located southeast of the Land of Fire and required a boat trip to get there. At a normal ninja's running speed, it would take about three to four days.
Hanekawa opened the map and quickly drew a line.
"Not bad," Tsunade said after glancing at it. "You avoided the crowds but didn't take a detour."
"I was the top student at the Ninja Academy," Hanekawa said with a smile, putting the map away. "I can handle something this small."
"So what if you're number one?" Tsunade said, wrapping her arm around him with a serious tone. "Outside of the school, any overlooked detail could cost you your life!"
What kind of body-check is this? Hanekawa was being squeezed so tightly that he could barely hear what she was saying. He realized that Tsunade was even stricter than he had imagined.
"Yes, Sensei," Hanekawa said honestly.
"That's more like it," Tsunade said, letting go of him. "Let's go!"
She jumped up and began the classic ninja run. Hanekawa followed closely behind. Tsunade was accommodating his speed and not running too fast. As they ran, she didn't just stay quiet; she lectured Hanekawa about potential traps and how to spot human and animal tracks. They had learned some of this in class, but not in such detail.
Time passed quickly as Hanekawa listened and ran.
Night fell. The two of them had reached the southeastern side of the Land of Fire, not far from the coast.
"Hanekawa," Tsunade said, stopping. "Find a place to set up the tent. We'll go to the port tomorrow."
"Yes, Sensei." Hanekawa activated the 'Ninja Tool Mastery' talent, which gave him an 8x zoom effect. He quickly found a good spot. It was a secluded grove not far from a river, with lush trees and thick weeds.
Hanekawa took out the tent and set it up. He then set up simple traps around the area. This was both to prevent wild animals at night and to serve as an early warning system.
Tsunade watched his every move in silence. She had to admit that Hanekawa being the top student at the academy was no joke; she didn't find any major issues with his work.
"One tent is enough," Tsunade said, walking into the tent and looking back at him. "Come in, we'll sleep together."
"Huh?" Hanekawa froze. No way, Sensei!
"I'm not going to eat you," Tsunade said, amused by his expression.
"Then I'm coming in." Hanekawa walked into the tent.
"In the wild, the less movement, the better," Tsunade said, sitting across from him. "Also, when you sleep in a sleeping bag, you should sleep in your clothes in case of an emergency."
"Yes." Hanekawa secretly felt a bit disappointed. It was clear that Tsunade was serious. She had been teaching him every little thing along the way, almost spoon-feeding him.
"Eat up, then go to sleep," Tsunade said, taking out two portions of dry rations.
Hanekawa sighed. The so-called "dry rations" were just pre-made rice balls and sushi. How should he put it? They weren't nearly as good as a hot meal.

After dinner, it was completely dark. There were no candles in the tent, and he couldn't see anything. Tsunade got into her sleeping bag, only her head sticking out. She looked at Hanekawa and said, "Come here."
