Chapter 67: Shisui Defeated by Body Flicker
A rolling wave of heat.
A large fireball was once again spat out, hitting the tree not far away.
"I got him! I got him!" Uchiha Tekka exclaimed excitedly.
Uchiha Shisui was speechless.
He was still playing a battle of wits with the air.
Shisui walked forward, looked at Hanekawa, and after a few seconds of silent eye contact, he stopped in front of Tekka.
He extended his hand, channeled chakra into Tekka's body, and released him from the genjutsu.
The Hanekawa in front of Tekka turned into a tree.
The joyful expression on Uchiha Tekka's face instantly froze, and he blurted out, "What's going on?!"
"Tekka-san, you fell into a genjutsu," Shisui said solemnly.
"Impossible!" Uchiha Tekka immediately denied it.
But he looked at the scorched tree and then at Hanekawa, who was standing a distance away. A moment later, he looked completely dejected.
"I… I, an Uchiha, was defeated by a genjutsu."
Tekka spoke as if his soul had left his body.
"It's not your fault, Tekka-san," Shisui said, shaking his head and trying to console him.
Uchiha Tekka didn't know what to say.
"Wanna fight?"
Just then, Hanekawa's voice rang out.
Uchiha Tekka subconsciously looked up but found that Hanekawa wasn't looking at him, but at Uchiha Shisui.
He couldn't help but feel annoyed, but then he quickly felt that it was only right.
The weak should be humiliated.
This was the long-held belief of the Uchiha clan; they only recognized the strong.
"Me?" Uchiha Shisui was a bit surprised.
"I've heard your name before," Hanekawa said with a smile.
Shisui was flattered.
He hesitated for a few seconds and then said, "Please, teach me."
After seeing Uchiha Tekka's crushing defeat, his initial thought was to wait a while before challenging Hanekawa. That way he would be better prepared.
But now, facing the moment, there was no reason to back down.
Hanekawa and Shisui walked into the center of the training ground and formed the opposing seals.
"Another fight?" Hatake Kakashi raised an eyebrow and asked.
Uchiha Obito's eyes lit up with hope.
Alright! Shisui's here! The Uchiha are saved!
"Hanekawa's going to win, for sure!" Yuhi Kurenai said with great confidence.
"I don't know about that," Uchiha Obito couldn't help but interject.
"Whose side are you on?" Kurenai asked, a little annoyed.
"I... I'm rooting for Rin." Uchiha Obito grinned awkwardly, looking at Nohara Rin.
But he received no response, as the battle in the field had already begun.
Uchiha Shisui raised his right hand, and two kunai silently appeared in front of Hanekawa.
Hanekawa, acknowledging the skill, said to himself, As expected of Shisui.
I'd call his kunai technique the strongest. At least among his peers.
Hanekawa's body flickered, brushing past the kunai and charging toward Shisui.
The samurai sword in his hand drew an arc, aimed directly at Shisui's neck.
The effect of the C-rank talent 'Quick as Wind' was on full display.
So fast!
Shisui's heart tensed. He quickly drew the ninja sword from his back to block Hanekawa's samurai sword.
But a great force came through the blade, pushing him back.
Damn it! Shisui realized he was in trouble.
Hanekawa lifted his leg and kicked him.
Shisui's body lost its balance and he rolled on the ground.
But he quickly got up, gritting his teeth in pain.
Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu!
Shisui widened the distance and performed the hand seals.
Though it was the same jutsu, his fireball was a third larger than Uchiha Tekka's.
Hanekawa casually re-sheathed his samurai sword, then crossed his hands and threw them out, scattering eight shuriken like a blooming flower.
The massive fireball was instantly pierced, and the shuriken, their momentum barely diminished, flew toward Uchiha Shisui.
"What?!" Shisui's heart shook.
Hanekawa's shuriken-throwing technique was no worse than his own.
Shisui quickly spun, seizing the opportunity to unleash a powerful swing with his ninja sword.
All eight shuriken were deflected.
But the force that came back through the sword still numbed his right arm.
Where did he get so much strength?
Shisui had no time to think. He heard a whooshing sound.
He instinctively turned his head and saw the shuriken that had landed leap back up.
It's wire!
In that moment, Shisui wondered if he was actually sparring with a ninja from the Uchiha clan.
Body Flicker Jutsu!
His body suddenly accelerated.
After creating a little more distance, he spun his ninja sword and cut all the wires.
Then, with a series of quick slashes, he batted all the shuriken back.
Fire Style: Phoenix Sage Fire Technique!
Shisui withdrew his ninja sword and performed the hand seals.
The flames he spat out followed the shuriken, creating a devastating combination.
"He's too strong!" Uchiha Obito couldn't help but say. "That's the Uchiha for you!"
The Fire Style: Phoenix Sage Fire Technique was a B-rank difficulty Fire Style jutsu.
Neither he nor Uchiha Tekka could perform it.
Anyone who could learn a B-rank jutsu was already qualified to take the Chunin Exams.
In other words, Hanekawa couldn't block it, unless he had the strength of a chunin.
Body Flicker Jutsu!
Hanekawa became a mere afterimage.
He dodged the eight burning shuriken at an incredible speed.
"How is a Body Flicker Jutsu that fast?!" Uchiha Obito froze on the spot.
"Unbelievable!" Hatake Kakashi subconsciously clenched his fist.
"I can't even see him," Nohara Rin and Yuhi Kurenai muttered, trying to keep their eyes wide, but all they saw was a blur.
Damn it!
Shisui quickly drew his ninja sword.
But the next second, he felt a sharp prick on his neck.
A samurai sword was already there.
If he moved even an inch, his head would be severed.
"I lose."
Uchiha Shisui let go of his ninja sword and said with admiration, "Hanekawa-senpai, your reputation is well-deserved; you are even more formidable than I imagined."
"You were pretty good yourself," Hanekawa said with a smile.
"I'm not on your level," Shisui said, scratching his head. "Hanekawa-senpai's Body Flicker Jutsu was a real eye-opener. I need to study it more."
Hanekawa couldn't help but smile wryly.
In the original story, Uchiha Shisui's nickname was Shisui of the Body Flicker because he had perfected the jutsu to an art form.
Now, he was being inspired by Hanekawa himself.
Just then, two lines of text appeared before Hanekawa's eyes.
[E-rank talent 'Fire-spitting Kid' has leveled up.]
[Fire Style talent has been increased by 30% from its original value.]
It actually leveled up?
Hanekawa was surprised, and then he felt a surge of joy.
Being able to switch sources meant that it wouldn't be as difficult to farm talents as he thought.
"Hanekawa got even stronger," Hatake Kakashi said, having watched the entire fight.
"He's incredible," Nohara Rin murmured, a hint of admiration in her eyes.

Yet, his ninjutsu, genjutsu, and swordsmanship were all top-tier. It was unbelievable.
Uchiha Obito saw Nohara Rin's profile and his face instantly hardened.

Why did we lose again?!
It's a disgrace to the Uchiha!
He forgot that if he had been the one to fight Hanekawa, he would have lost even faster.
