Chapter 29 - How Could This Sea Be Free Of Mafia?

The Grado Mafia Family is not located within the sea area of the Sibia River Archipelago, but rather on a smaller island called Baiscaiborg in the sea area adjacent to the Sibia River Archipelago.

That area is also within the jurisdiction of the 315th Branch.

Although Baiscaiborg Island is small, compared to the mostly impoverished Sibia River Archipelago, it boasts a relatively wealthy city, and the Grado Mafia Family is the sole ruler of the island.

It can be said that the entire island is completely ruled by the Grado Mafia Family.

Of course, this phenomenon is also very common in the West Blue. The West Blue's mafia influence is quite vast, a force that even the local Marines dares not easily provoke. Virtually every affluent island has been divided up by the West Blue's mafia.

But the Grado Mafia Family... Why hadn't he heard of it before?

"The Grado Mafia Family rose to prominence later. There were other mafias before, but they were all driven out by the Grado Mafia Family."

Faced with Ian's doubts, Gini, who was rowing, didn't dare to hide anything and spoke very honestly: "Now the Grado Mafia Family has teamed up with the Capone Mafia Family, one of the five major mafia families in the West Blue. So, it won't be long before our Grado Mafia Family becomes the most powerful mafia in this sea area. By then, no one will dare to bully us."

When he spoke of the Grado Mafia Family, the boy's tone was tinged with pride.

Ian raised an eyebrow and pondered for a moment. Then he casually said while lying on the deck: "Didn't the mafia in this area get wiped out a while ago?"

"Boss, you know about this! The previous mafia family had offended a powerful individual and was eliminated, but how could this sea be free of mafia?"

Hearing Ian's words, Gini, who had been somewhat proud, couldn't help but sigh. "After a period of calm, various mafias emerged. The Grado Mafia Family also appeared around that time. After that, things got even more chaotic. Various mafias were collecting protection fees everywhere, and some even demanded money just for leaving the house."

"Pay one mafia in the morning, another in the afternoon, and even more mafia came to collect at night. If you didn't have money, you would be sold as a slave. If you've got a pretty girl, those filthy mafia will snatch her away."

"Then why did you join the Grado Mafia Family?"

"What do you know? You can't escape this sea without joining the mafia!"

Ian's words seemed to have infuriated Gini.

"If you don't join, you'll be bullied and charged protection fees by all sorts of mafias. Although the protection fees from the Grado Mafia Family are exorbitant, as long as the Grado Mafia Family eliminates the other mafias, then everyone will only have to pay protection fees to the Grado Mafia Family."

As he spoke, a hint of emotion crept into his voice. "This sea... The mafia won't disappear."

"..."

After hearing Gini's words, Ian was silent for a moment, then lazily lay down again and said calmly: "Let's sail!"

After Gini's explanation, he had a general idea of what was going on.

The boss of the Grado Mafia Family had simply sent someone to invite him over, and the 200 million Belly were the work of that person called Jax, who had taken it upon himself to discover that the Sibia Village was actually building a dock and a brewery.

As for why he had been invited over, Gini explained that he had only recently joined the mafia and was unlikely to know such secrets.

The boat slowly sailed towards Baiscaiborg Island.

Without an engine-powered wheel, the boat couldn't possibly reach the destination quickly. This was also why most mafias couldn't extend their influence to remote islands; traveling back and forth was simply too troublesome.

After sailing for nearly the whole night, when the sun finally rose, Gini's respectful voice came again. "Boss, we have arrived."

"We finally arrived?"

Ian, who had been resting with his eyes closed, slowly opened them.

Feeling the first rays of the morning sun, his exhaustion was instantly swept away. He stood up directly, grabbed his one-handed axe, and muttered: "This crappy boat really is torture to sit on!"

With that, he jumped off the boat. Gini, standing beside him, hesitated again. "Boss, are you really going? You may be strong, but the Grado Mafia Family has ties with the Capone Mafia Family. If you leave now, I can pretend I never saw you."

He closed his eyes again, looking timid. Just as he was praying for this guy to get out of here…

Pa!

A hand rested on his shoulder, and Ian's voice echoed again.

"They invited me, so why wouldn't I come?"

Ian said flatly. "And do you want to be the boss?"

"...?!"

Be the boss?

What was this guy talking about? Before Gini could react, the hand patting his shoulder vanished.

He suddenly opened his eyes and turned, watching Ian heading toward the city.

A complex expression crossed his face. He sighed deeply, then ran forward again while timidly saying: "Boss, let me lead the way!"

The two of them headed toward the city together. However, the entire island was controlled by the Grado Mafia Family, so the Grado Mafia Family had already spotted Ian the moment he landed.

As they walked, Ian felt several gazes on him, but he paid no attention. Led by Gini, they headed toward the Grado's headquarters and soon arrived at the entrance.

As Ian was about to enter the base, two mafias in suits standing at the doorway reached out to stop him, taunting him with: "Put down your weapons, you rude fellow..."

But Ian wasn't going to tolerate them. Before they could finish their words, he swung his axe down, and two screams of pain echoed.

Ignoring the mafia around him that was drawing their guns, he strode inside.

The surrounding mafias looked at each other, hesitating. Just as they were wondering whether to act, a cold voice came from inside: "The boss said let this rude fellow in!"

The mafias breathed a sigh of relief, but Ian ignored them and continued walking inside. As for Gini... He knew he was doomed.

This guy is here to cause trouble!

How dare he attack someone over a disagreement?!

If Ian hadn't come, he could have used a shipwreck or some other excuse to get away with it.

But now, with the others dead and only him bringing Ian back, who even injured his fellow companion.

It was obvious that his fate would be horrible no matter what, so he had no choice but to continue following Ian.

All he could do was follow behind with his head down, hoping that boss Victor would spare his life for bringing Ian.

After walking through the dim corridor, he came to a spacious room with an open door. Ian knew this was his destination.

As he stepped inside, a loud laugh echoed. "Hahaha, welcome to my place, retired Marine Lieutenant. Your name is Ian, right?"

"Boss of the Grado Mafia Family, Victor."

Ian saw the man who spoke, a burly man sitting in a big chair, wearing a black suit with no white shirt underneath like the others, chest bared.

Ian ignored the man's enthusiasm and placed the axe on his shoulder as he spoke flatly: "So you're the one who called me here?"
