Chapter 81 - Severed Arm, Danzō

Chapter 81 – Severed Arm, Danzō

"Kakashi, you three need to be extra careful out there," Yusuke said firmly, his eyes carrying the weight of an older brother's responsibility.

"Don't worry, bro." Kakashi gripped the blade Habakiri tightly in his hand, confidence gleaming in his eyes.

"Go on. This war will be the greatest test of your resolve. Claim the title you deserve. Don't forget—you're the son of the White Fang of Konoha… and my little brother."

Yusuke's voice was steady, deep, and resolute.

"I understand, aniki!" Kakashi replied with a serious nod, filled with determination.

As Kakashi's figure faded from view, Yusuke let out a long breath.

"If you're that worried about him, why did you let him go to the front lines?" Kurenai asked, puzzled by his decision.

"A flower raised inside a greenhouse won't survive a storm," Yusuke replied, eyes distant. "Steel only becomes unbreakable when forged a thousand times over. The same applies to Kakashi. My brother isn't meant to live a weak and sheltered life. He needs to walk his own path. And this is the one he chose."

"I still don't get it… Then why won't you let me join the battlefield?" Kurenai snapped, frustration bubbling in her voice.

"A man born in an age of chaos must bear the will to conquer it. That is both his resolve… and his burden." Yusuke's tone was calm but heavy.

"So you're saying girls are just supposed to sit quietly and watch? You really underestimate women, don't you?!" Kurenai's face turned red with anger.

"Haha, you misunderstood me, Kurenai." Yusuke chuckled softly, then walked back into the house.

— — —

Several quiet days passed. Yusuke spent his time with Kurenai—sometimes training with her, sometimes drilling her harshly. While he wasn't exactly a Genjutsu master, the tactical foundations and combat insights he shared were more than enough to hone her potential. He also helped condition her body to better withstand real battle.

But that peaceful lull didn't last long.

One morning, a shinobi arrived, bowing respectfully before Yusuke.

"Yusuke-sama. The Hokage has summoned you."

"…Got it. You're dismissed."

As the shinobi vanished, Yusuke narrowed his eyes. What does Hiruzen want this time?

— — —

In the Hokage's office, familiar faces filled the room.

"Is there something urgent, Hokage-sama?" Yusuke asked flatly.

"There's been a troubling development in Kirigakure," Hiruzen began with a heavy sigh.

"I figured. And?"

"Konoha is requesting that you intercept their movement," Mitokado Homura said.

"Me?" Yusuke raised an eyebrow. "Sorry. I'm busy."

Hiruzen stayed silent. Busy? Doing what—romantic strolls with his girlfriend? Training? Is that what he calls a full schedule?

"As a shinobi of Konoha, it's your duty to obey the village's orders!" Koharu snapped.

"Really? Then I resign," Yusuke shrugged. "Being a civilian suits me just fine."

"You—!!" Koharu's voice trembled with fury.

"We're short on manpower," Danzō interjected sharply. "If you refuse to help now, what exactly are you plotting?"

"Oh?" Yusuke smirked. "So now I'm a traitor?"

His Conqueror's Haki exploded outward like a hurricane.

The air thickened. The entire room trembled. Tables and chairs shattered instantly. Everyone inside broke into a cold sweat.

"Yusuke! That's enough!" Hiruzen raised his voice, trying to calm the storm.

"A worm like you dares raise his voice at me?" Yusuke's words cut deep. "Did Lord Tobirama never teach you how to respect those stronger than yourself?"

The pressure intensified. Homura and Koharu felt as though they were being dragged into the pits of hell. Without Hiruzen's chakra shielding them, they would've collapsed on the spot.

Even someone like Hanzo the Salamander would be paralyzed in such a suffocating aura.

— — —

"Laser."

Yusuke pointed a glowing finger at Danzō, firing a thin beam of light.

Danzō dodged—barely. The blast grazed his right arm, exploding on impact. Blood sprayed across the room.

"You managed to dodge… barely," Yusuke scoffed. "Still pathetic. After sitting behind a desk all these years, your power's a shadow of what it once was. A mid-level shinobi could probably give you a hard time now. To me, you're nothing but an insect I can crush at will."

"Yusuke, are you seriously trying to kill him?!" Hiruzen's chakra flared, wrapping his aged body in power.

Yusuke blinked. Huh. Impressive. Even in his old age, he's still worthy of the title 'Professor.' No wonder he could fend off Orochimaru. But still…

"If you want to fight me, Hokage-sama, are you prepared for what comes next?" Yusuke's smile turned cold.

"…Please. I'm asking you not to kill him. Danzō still has a role to play," Hiruzen pleaded.

"The Hokage begging? That's a rare sight," Yusuke mused. "Very well, I won't kill him. But I will leave him with a reminder. You old fools need to understand one thing—you do not mess with the Hatake clan."

— — —

"Room."

The word echoed through the space. A translucent blue dome surrounded the room in an instant.

Danzō sensed danger and tried to escape.

But Yusuke appeared behind him in a flash, grabbing him by the neck and slamming him into the ground.

"You really thought you could run from me? Did you forget—this world is ruled by power. Who gave you the courage to act tough in front of me?"

Yusuke drove his foot into Danzō's chest. With brutal force, he yanked his arm—

Crack.

The sound of bone snapping echoed through the room.

Koharu's face turned deathly pale.

"Stop it!" Hiruzen shouted.

Yusuke raised Enma—his blade—and brought it down in a heavy arc toward Danzō's skull.

"Relax. I told you, I won't kill him," he said coolly.

Blood pooled beneath Danzō's twitching body. His right arm lay severed beside him.

Yusuke bent down, reattaching the torn body with eerie precision. But he left the arm untouched.

"That should be enough. A proper warning. Try anything like this again... and next time, you won't leave alive."

With that, Yusuke's figure vanished without a trace.

— — —

Silence fell.

Koharu gasped for air like someone who had just barely escaped death.

"Call the medics! Now!" Hiruzen barked.

Shinobi rushed in to carry Danzō away, who trembled like a leaf.

"How… How can anyone be that strong?" Homura muttered, still pale.

"You fools!" Hiruzen snapped. "Did you think I was exaggerating when I warned you not to provoke him?! If I hadn't intervened just now, we'd all be dead—ten times over!"

The room fell silent.

Even Danzō, always full of ambition and arrogance, kept his head low in utter humiliation.

"Listen carefully. From now on, if any of you provoke Hatake Yusuke again… you're on your own. Don't come crying to me when you get yourselves killed."

Hiruzen's voice thundered through the room like a gavel striking judgment.

He turned to Danzō, who sat clutching his shoulder in pain.

"Danzō, your Root unit will be tasked with intercepting Kirigakure. If you fail… you're no longer fit to lead Root."

"…Understood," Danzō replied weakly.

There was no fight left in him. Only fear.

Fear of the man cloaked in white.

Fear of the name… Hatake Yusuke.
