"Congratulations Noah, you caught your first pokemon", "yay, good for you", me and Kyra cheered for Noah, though Kyra was less enthusiastic, see she was our racist if it wasn't a ghost type she wouldn't really care what pokemon we had.
Now I was curious to see what would happen if either me or Noah caught a fairy type, "Noah" Kyra called. Noah was just standing there arm still pulled back just after he threw the pokeball, "Turtwig?", even his Turtwig was starting to get concerned.
Suddenly Noah's body started vibrating then, he cheered "woooohoooo, I caught a pokemon, let's go Turtwig!!!"
"Turtwig!!", His Turtwig jumped up in the air with him, after landing Noah rushed over to his pokeball, "come on out Shinx"
"Shinx", Shinx called as he was released, Noah then pulled out a basic health potion/ spray and started healing his pokemon.
While watching the scene Kyra came over to me, "Isn't it great Noah caught his first pokemon."
"Yea, a real heart warming scene", just as she finished Kyra slugged me in arm, staggering back a little I looked at her, "what the heck was that for?!"
"Don't think for a second, I forgot what you said about leaving me as pokemon bait, while you rob me." Kyra said while pointing her finger at me, our little commotion had brought Noah back down to us.
"Now that Kyra made everything even again, let's head to Jubilife city", with Noah's words, and my slightly sore arm we were all set to continue down the road. While we were walking Noah was still in a really good mood, he was even slightly dancing, his Turtwig looked embarrassed while his new Shinx questioned his life choices.
We traveled through a forest surrounded by mountains. That forest had a lot of interesting sights. There were flocks of Starly, with the occasional Staravia, some Bidoof that were literally rolling down a hill, with a Bibarel frantically chasing after them.
Near a river there were some adorable Wooper playing with some Quagsire, we all enjoyed the sights, took some pictures with some of them, the Wooper and my Piplup even made Kyra burst out laughing at their antics when they tried to raid Noah's backpack for snacks.
Misdreavus even had some fun taunting Piplup, by staying just out of Piplup's reach with all the Buizel bites. The time Piplup, tried to use a bubble beam to attack Misdreavus, her bubble beam missed and destroyed a bag, Piplup cried.
After playing with the Wooper and Quagsire for the whole afternoon we decided to make camp next to them. All three of us knew that we would go on past the newbie week and continue on our journey's so we shared the extra supplies we had with the pokemon.
Now it was after dinner, all of us had our pokemon out, we were resting by the river and were looking up at the stars while our pokemon were resting. Taking a quick drink from my water bottle, I turned to Kyra who was on my left.
"Hey Kyra", "Yeah?" she called turning her head to face me, "I've been meaning to ask but where did you get Misdreavus?"
At my words Noah, who was on Kyra's left responded "I've been wondering this too, you just showed up to school one day with Misdreavus but everyone was too afraid to talk to you to ask, and by the time we became friends we all forgot to ask you"
Kyra just sighed at our words, after exhaling she looked back up at the sky. "There's not much to tell, I always loved ghost types, and as you said earlier everyone was afraid of me so to kill time I either played my ocarina or just explored random parts of Twinleaf town."
"I think I was seven, maybe seven and a half, I found an old abandoned house on the outskirts of town. After I went inside the door slammed shut behind me, since I couldn't open the door I just explored the house."
"Midway through exploring the second floor, I heard the sound of a scream then anything that wasn't bolted down started flying around me. At first I was scared, I ran away and hid in a room, I was still scared so I did the only thing I could think of to calm me down, I played my ocarina."
"While I was playing, everything else calmed down and out of the corner of my eye I saw a pokemon, the pokemon seemed to like the music and I kept playing. After I played all the songs I could remember, Misdreavus was just floating in front of me."
"Now that I could actually make out what the pokemon was, I was fascinated by an actual ghost type and started gushing over Misdreavus, Misdreavus startled at first, then started preening under the attention."
"I found out later that Misdreavus was living there because no one had reacted positively upon seeing her, except for me I was the first to act that way. Time passed and before I knew it, it was almost sun down, I ran back to my house. By the time I got home it was late and I got an earful from my parents."
"Misdreavus I guess decided to follow me home, and while I was still getting chewed out for being home late Misdreavus wanting to help out by causing a distraction she appeared next to me."
"That startled my family and after a lot of begging, and promises, mainly by pointing out sooner or later I would have a team of ghost types so they would have to get used to my ghost types and it would be better if I had one now so they could get used to them."
"With that Misdreavus became my partner", Misdreavus who had been listening nearby, floated over and was now on top of Kyra.
Both me and Noah had been fascinated by Kyra's tale, now that it was over Noah couldn't help but ask, "is that why you want an only ghost type team? because you promised that to your family?"
Kyra shook her head, "no, I love pokemon but ghost types have a special place in my heart", midway through speaking one of the Woopers came over to her and plopped on her stomach to make itself more comfortable.
While Kyra was rubbing the head of the Wooper next to her I was thinking over Kyra's story. There was one part that stuck out to me, "you play the ocarina?"
"Yes I do" as Kyra said that she pulled out a purple ocarina that had a pokeball near the mouth piece. "How well can you play?", Kyra thought it over for a second before responding, "As long as the song isn't too complex I can play from memory."
I couldn't help it, sitting up I started whistling the song of healing, while I was whistling Kyra closed her eyes and started absorbing the sound.
I repeated the song twice before Kyra opened her eyes, then she moved the Wooper off her, stood up and played. When I was whistling it was just me, but as the sound of the ocarina spreading the forest came to life.
The Quagsire, and Wooper nearby started humming along, some Illumise came out of some bushes on the other side of the river and started releasing some small soft lights. Even some Budew, and Roselia came out and released some flowers into the air.
Paired with the starry night sky, the scene was gorgeous, both me and Noah were stunned into silence, soon Kyra stopped playing and the forest went back to the quiet night it was before.
Once Kyra finished, we started clapping, "congratulations Kyra", "that was great", under our praise Kyra turned red, attempting to hide her face, but I could still make out the smile stretching across her face.
"You should become a pokemon coordinator", at Noah's words Kyra spun around so fast she almost fell over herself, "NOPE NOPE, not happening in a million years."
Giving her a smile I looked to Misdreavus, "why not? When Misdreavus evolves into a Mismaguis she gets a hat and longer dress."
At my words Misdreavus with a devilish grin, used an illusion to look like Kyra, but this Kyra was in an all pink dress, and had so many ornaments, she looked like a Christmas tree, then started mimicking the movements of a pokemon coordinator, Kyra started openly gagging at the display.
I couldn't hold it in and burst out laughing, by the sounds of it neither could Noah. "Cut it out you two, it's not funny, it's not funny."
Noah while through tears of laughter with his Shinx who was having a hard time breathing through all the laughing, "I don't know, Kyra it's pretty funny"
Finally recovering enough to see Kyra, she was pouting at us, after a few more minutes we both stopped, she just huffed at us, "I'm going to bed, see you jerks in the morning", with that she turned away heading for her tent.
Me and Noah stayed out for a few minutes longer still chuckling before heading to our tents.
With the sounds of Starly I woke up, Piplup acting as my plushie for the night, after carefully swapping out of my dirty clothes in some new ones I was embraced by the sun's warmth.
Looking around I saw nearby Petilil on a little stump and Turtwig next to her happily absorbing the sun, while continuing to look around I noticed I was the only one up. Kyra not being up, that was normal, but Noah, something was definitely off.
Heading over to his tent I was about to pull the zipper when I heard the sound of a lot of other sounds coming from his tent. Looking through the zipper from where his Turtwig had escaped, I saw Noah, surrounded by Wooper.
I realized then, it wasn't Turtwig who initially opened Noah's tent, these Wooper really liked Noah, inwardly chuckling at his plight. I noticed that Noah was actually awake but all the Wooper were still asleep.
Noah noticed me too and gave me an apologetic smile, I just mouthed I got it, and left him. Making my way back over to my tent I got my bag, and got out my cooking supplies, then started to prepare breakfast for everyone.
After things got going with me cooking the Wooper woke up due to the smell, while I wasn't a master chef, due to living on my own due from college, I was a great cook when I wasn't distracted.
Noah, now free from the dog pile of Wooper, came over and helped me finish preparing breakfast. After walking up Kyra, we all quickly ate, after we were all packed up Noah took out his map.
"At most Jubilife city is a few hours away, do you two want to push through and try to get there around eleven?"
"Sure I'm in, lets make it to Jubilife city", I cheered while pumping my fist in the air. "I'm in, I want to explore some abandoned parts of the city to see if I find anything" called a more enthusiastic than yesterday morning Kyra.
Just as we were about to leave a Quagsire, and a Wooper approached with Turtwig, "Turtwig, what's going on?" Noah asked
"Again really?" Groaned Kyra, "again really what?" I asked, "just look at Noah" replied Kyra with a knowing smile.
All three of the pokemon were now standing in front of Noah, Turtwig with one of its legs pointed to the Wooper, "Turtwig Turtwig, Turtwigg"
Noah's originally confused look turned to one of shock, as he turned to the Quagsire, "Is really okay if I take Wooper on my journey?"
The Quagsire exhaled then nodded, next started pointing down at the ground "Quagsire, sire, Quag", once the Quagsire finished Noah nodded.
"I promise I will one day visit you to show you Wooper's growth", Noah then crouched down now level with the Wooper, "Do you really want to become my pokemon?"
"Woopaa!" the Wooper replied excitedly
"Alright then", Noah pulled out a pokeball and held it in front of Wooper, Wooper, then slightly bumped the ball and disappeared inside.
After three shakes, the ball clicked and Wooper was caught, Noah then jumped in the air with his team holding Wooper's ball in the air, "I caught a new pokemon, let's go team!!", "Turtwig!!", "Shinx!"
After he landed, he coughed a little in embarrassment at Quagsire's raised non-existent eyebrow, then released Wooper, "Woopaa" it called.
"Alright Wooper, said goodbye, we're heading out and the next time you'll see your mama, you'll be a lot stronger."
The Wooper dove right into Quagsire's open arms, after a deep hug they separated, Noah placed Wooper on his head, started walking towards the road, all three of us waving over our shoulders saying goodbye.
Just before we couldn't see the Noah's Wooper's mom, she waved, "Woopaaa", "Quagsirrree"
"So we push on to Jubilife city?" I said looking at my two friends, "yeah, lets finish this" they both replied, each with their own determination.
With that we pushed on, until we made it to a cliff overlooking Jubilife city.
"There it is, the big city" I called excitedly, looking at the sun it was just before eleven, "I never imagined that it would be this big, look there's the pokemon center, in the middle of the city." said Noah pointing at the building with the big red roof.
"Anybody else's feet hurt?" complained Kyra as she finally reached us, "a little" Me and Noah sharing the same brain cell simultaneously replied. "Come on out Misdreavus" called Kyra
"Misdreavus", the pokemon cried as she appeared, taking a second to survey her surrounding. Misdreavus easily noticed the big city, then Misdreavus noticed Kyra's smile.
"Misdreavus, in light of recent events and the previous double training, you will now proceed with triple strength training, by pulling all three of us to that big red building over there."
Misdreavus's originally excited smile, dropped so fast it was funny, Kyra then turned and pulled out the dolly that was bigger than her bag out of her bag and handed Misdreavus the rope.
Me and Noah both eagerly sat on the dolly, eventually Kyra joined us and Misdreavus started pulling us to the pokemon center.
Eventually we entered the city, Misdreavus was still pulling all of us on the dolly, midway through the city, she started what sounded like singing.
"Misdreavus, mis, mis dreavus, Misdreavus" - translation, "day is never finished master got me work'in some day master set me freeee"
(Author Note - What did you think of the chapter? Yes Kyra playing the ocarina will be relevant in the future, I love fanfics that the protagonist can be made fun of and the other side character's aren't just yes men.)
