My head felt off, that was the first thought that came to mind, as I slowly opened my eyes, I saw the blurry outline of a figure sitting in an all white chair.
Once my vision cleared the figure I saw came into focus, it was a girl, she was wearing a blue dress, and had two long silver bundles of hair that reached past her waist. While I observed her, she got off her chair and walked towards me.
"Hikari Tanaka, welcome to the afterlife, my name is Eris and I am the current goddess overseeing Japan".
The now named goddess was standing in front of me, now that she was closer to me I could feel a serene air around her.
"But I died in America?" at my words, she paused for a second, then continued walking
"Also what do you mean by current goddess?", I asked her, "Yes, the previous goddess who was in charge of Japan, is on a quest to defeat a demon king in another realm, but that is a different story."
"Since you have died at the meager age of 18, I am giving you a choice, to either reincarnate somewhere on earth or go to heaven."
Giving her a curious look I asked "what is it like in heaven, and what happens if I choose to reincarnate on earth?"
"In heaven, you get to enjoy peace like you never have before, no pain, no stress, no taxes, just waiting until the end of time. However, should you choose to reincarnate back on earth, you will live another life but you will lose all your memories."
Pondering over the options it was either wait out the end of time, or become a blank slate. While I was still mentally debating over the options Eris pulled out a pamphlet, "there is a third option however I must warn you it does come with some risks."
After taking the pamphlet, I noticed that the title was Guide to Reincarnation in another world, upon opening it I realized the first few pages had some basic information about another world, how it was at war with a demon lord, the era the world was in medieval times but this world had magic.
This world was just like my video games, monsters, magic, and a demon lord. The next page talked about the benefits that would happen to me if I chose this option, keeping my memories, being able to take one thing with me or have a special ability.
If I could defeat the devil king any wish of mine would be granted, just as I was grinning like a loon I got to the last page.
The final page of the pamphlet was full of warnings, the first one was about going poof while reincarnating, then next was about the real possibility of death, the last one was about how if I die there would be no next time.
"As you can see, the third option has many great benefits with the same number of risks, should you wish to go this route than simply sign your name at the bottom of the last page".
After hesitating for only a few more moments I signed it, handing the pamphlet back to Eris she then stepped back ten feet then spread her arms, suddenly beneath me a glowing circle appeared.
"Now that you have chosen the third option, you may now choose either to take an item or ability of your choosing." Despite living on Earth for 18 years the best my brain could come up with was an ability from Naruto.
The Hozuki clan's hydrification technique, while it wasn't all powerful it was definitely a handy ability, sure it came with the downside of a constant need for water, that aside survival was almost guaranteed the pamphlet did mention that there was magic in the new world, how hard could it be to learn a spell to create water?
"for my special ability I choose perfect mastery over the Hozuki clan's hydrification technique, from the anime Naruto".
Once I finished talking, the circle I was in grew in size, then started glowing, Eris then raised her arms then I started floating up heading towards the light, "I wish you the best of luck Hakari, that you may defeat the devil king and ..."
Midway through her speech she suddenly stopped, a look of pity, and horror crossed her face. Now confused I realized she wasn't looking at me anymore, when I turned around I saw what could best be described as a human corpse with a huge hole in the middle of their chest sitting in the chair I was originally in.
I wanted to puke, the sight before was one that would stick in my head for a long time, suddenly I started shaking in the air. Turning around I saw Eris trying not to puke either, unlike me it seemed she had the weaker stomach as she turned around and started vomiting a rainbow?
The moment her arms went down the circle started going haywire, the magic circle going from the original blue, to yellow, then red. The last I saw was Eris still hunched still barfing up a rainbow as the light consumed me.
(Author Note - You may wonder why I went with the hydrification technique, it is because I have no idea what else to do, this is pokemon, humans aren't the ones fighting.
