Chapter 1 - The interview

*Chapter 1: The Interview*

The towering glass edifice of Lupin Enterprises loomed over the city skyline, its reflective surface catching the morning sun and casting a dazzling glow. Ruth stood at the base, clutching her portfolio, her heart pounding with a mix of excitement and anxiety. Fresh out of college, this was her first major interview, and the opportunity to work as a secretary for the enigmatic CEO, Mr. Kevin, was both thrilling and intimidating.

Stepping into the lobby, she was greeted by a sleek, modern interior. Marble floors gleamed underfoot, and a grand chandelier hung from the ceiling, its crystals refracting light into a spectrum of colors. The reception desk, manned by a poised woman in a tailored suit, stood at the center.

"Good morning," Ruth began, her voice steady despite her nerves. "I'm here for the interview with Mr. Kevin."

The receptionist offered a polite smile. "Of course, Miss Ruth. He's expecting you. Take the elevator to the top floor."

Thanking her, Ruth made her way to the elevator, each step echoing in the vast space. As the doors closed behind her, she took a deep breath, attempting to calm the storm within.

The ascent felt interminable, each floor ding amplifying her anticipation. When the doors finally opened, she was met with a corridor adorned with abstract art and soft lighting. At the end stood a massive oak door, behind which lay the office of the man who had built an empire.

Pushing the door open, she stepped into a spacious office with floor-to-ceiling windows offering a panoramic view of the city. Behind a mahogany desk sat Mr. Kevin, his piercing eyes meeting hers.

"Miss Ruth," he said, rising to shake her hand. "Please, have a seat."

His presence was overwhelming. Tall and impeccably dressed, he exuded authority and confidence. Yet, there was something else—a magnetic pull that made it hard for her to look away.

The interview commenced, with Mr. Kevin's questions probing not just her qualifications but her character. Despite the intensity, Ruth found herself responding with clarity and poise, her initial nerves giving way to determination.

After what felt like hours, he leaned back, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "Impressive. You're hired."

Relief and elation washed over her. "Thank you, Mr. Kevin. I won't let you down." As she left the office, Ruth couldn't shake the feeling that this job would change her life in ways she couldn't yet comprehend
