In a world where despair and betrayal shaped his existence, 21-year-old Kai finds himself at the bottom of the social ladder. Abandoned by his mother at a tender age due to his father's infidelity, he is left to navigate a life filled with bullying and maltreatment at the hands of his stepmother and her adoring children, who inherit all the love and wealth his father has to offer. Working at a junk food restaurant, Kai has learned to bury his emotions, adopting a facade of calmness to mask the turmoil within. However, everything changes when an apocalyptic event rips through the fabric of reality. As gods, monsters, and mythic beings emerge, the world around him transforms into a battleground. Amidst the chaos, Kai discovers an extraordinary system that grants him the ability to manifest anything into reality. With the power to purchase skills, bloodlines, and weapons using void points earned every hour, Kai's journey becomes one of power and growth. As he navigates this new world filled with unimaginable challenges, Kai must confront his past, embrace his newfound abilities, and forge a path that defies the limitations imposed on him. In a race against time, he learns that the true battle lies not only against the external monsters but also within his quest for survival and transcendence.

Chapter 1 - Shadows of the past

The fluorescent lights flickered ominously in the dimly lit kitchen of the fast-food restaurant, casting shadows that danced across the grease-stained floor.

Kai stood at the fryer, the heat radiating from the bubbling oil enveloping him in a suffocating embrace. It was just another day in a life that felt like a never-ending cycle of monotony and despair. The smell of fried food filled his nostrils, a reminder of the choices he had yet to make.

At twenty-one, Kai had grown accustomed to the sting of loneliness. His dark hair fell over his forehead, framing a face that had seen too many disappointments. He wiped his hands on his apron, glancing at the clock on the wall—two hours until closing time.

He sighed, the weight of his existence pressing down on his shoulders like a heavy shroud.

In the break room, the sounds of laughter and camaraderie echoed from his coworkers, but Kai felt like a ghost, drifting through their lives without ever truly being a part of them.

They had no idea of the battles he fought, the scars he carried from a childhood marred by betrayal. His father's infidelity had not only shattered his mother's heart but had also carved a chasm in Kai's own soul that seemed impossible to fill.

His mother had left for a better life, or so she had claimed in the few letters he received over the years. When she chose to abandon him for a new family in a distant country, she had taken with her any semblance of normalcy.

His father, a man who had once been a beacon of strength, had shriveled into a hollow shell, consumed by guilt and the need to redeem himself in the eyes of the new family he had created with his secretary.

"Hey, Kai! You gonna stand there all night, or are you gonna help us out?" called Jenna, a spirited girl with a bright smile that could light up the darkest corners of his mind. She was one of the few who bothered to reach out to him, though he often wondered why.

"Yeah, sure," he replied, forcing a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. He moved to the front counter, where a line of impatient customers awaited their orders, their faces a blur of indifference. It was easy to lose himself in the rhythm of serving others, a distraction from the chaos of his thoughts.

As he handed out burgers and fries, he couldn't shake the feeling that his life was trapped in a loop, a series of repetitive motions that led nowhere. He watched as families gathered around tables, laughter and joy echoing in the air—something he had long forgotten.

The twins, his step-siblings, were the epitome of privilege, their lives filled with opportunities he could only dream of. They inherited everything from their father, and Kai was left to scrounge for scraps.

"You're not going to let them win, are you?" he whispered to himself, his gaze drifting out of the window. The sun was setting, painting the sky in hues of orange and purple. For a moment, it was beautiful, a fleeting reminder of the world outside his prison of despair.

But just as quickly as it came, the beauty faded, replaced by the harsh reality of his life.

He was a nobody, an afterthought in a family that had moved on without him. The weight of his existence pressed down harder, and he felt the familiar sting of tears threatening to spill.

As the night wore on, the sound of laughter faded, replaced by the low hum of the restaurant as it emptied out. Kai found himself alone, the last one to finish his shift.

He cleaned the counters, the monotonous task a balm for his aching heart. With each wiped surface, he imagined erasing the memories that haunted him—the look of betrayal in his mother's eyes, the indifference of his father, and the cruelty of his stepmother.

"Just a little longer," he whispered to himself, "and maybe things will change."

But deep down, he knew the truth. Change was a luxury he could not afford. He was trapped in a life that had been dictated by others, shackled to the past that refused to let him go.

It was then that the ground shook, a low rumble that sent a shiver down his spine. Kai paused, his heart racing as the lights flickered violently overhead. He rushed to the window, peering out into the night. The sky was darkening, a storm brewing that felt more than just meteorological.
