Hearing what Maguire said, Susan standing beside him showed an expression of utter disbelief.
Her whole heart was pounding wildly in her chest.
What did he mean by that? Was this his roundabout way of proposing to her?
"In the future his place will be my home too… isn't that way too fast?
"I don't know if I can handle that. The real question is… do I say yes or not?"
While Susan was completely tangled up in these thoughts, Maguire suddenly reached into his pocket and took out a key.
He looked at Susan in front of him and said,
"This is your key. I bought this house for you.
"I noticed the place you're living at now is pretty far from the Baxter Building, and it's really small."
"Agh, I'm so embarrassed… I was totally overthinking it.
"I really thought he was… ugh, this is so embarrassing."
"But he's way too good to me. Just straight-up giving me a huge house like this…
"And it turns out he's actually such a considerate guy."
Maguire looked at Susan, who was frozen there in front of him, and said,
"What are you daydreaming about? Don't want it? If you don't want the key, I'll just put it away."
Hearing that, Susan blurted out excitedly,
"Who said I don't want it? I do!"
Maguire handed the key in his hand to Susan, then gave her a wicked grin.
"You want it? What is it you want, I'll give it to you."
Susan, of course, understood the meaning behind his words.
She rolled her eyes at him in a teasing, sultry way.
"All you know how to do is say these bully-ish, teasing things to me. You're so annoying."
"Annoying, huh? Then I guess I'll head out?"
Hearing that, Susan hurriedly protested in a half-coquettish tone,
"Oh come on, don't be so petty. I won't call you annoying, okay? I really, really like you."
Seeing Susan acting all shy and girlish like that, Maguire couldn't help but laugh.
"Alright then, how about giving me a tour of your new home?"
Susan nodded shyly.
"Okay… then let's go take a look at the house you bought me."
The next second, Susan walked toward the villa in front of her with light, happy steps.
She opened the front door.
"Dear, sweet Miss Sue, welcome home."
As the voice sounded, all the lights in the house suddenly came on.
The warm, cozy, adorable decor style instantly won Susan over.
She looked around the villa's interior with curiosity all over her face.
"The decoration in here looks so warm and cute. This is exactly my style."
Hearing that, Maguire nodded.
"Of course. I specifically hired people to design and decorate it for you.
"And all the smart-home systems in the place were custom-built for you by Harry, at my request."
Hearing this, Susan's face was filled with joy.
"You're really too good to me. Do you always treat other girls like this?"
Maguire just smiled without answering.
"Think whatever you like."
In her heart, Susan actually understood. With a man like Maguire—
someone who could practically be described as a god now—
wanting to completely have him all to herself was basically impossible.
Ever since she learned who Maguire really was, she had already tried to give herself a mental buffer.
The next moment, Maguire looked at Susan and said,
"Alright, since we've finished looking around the villa…
"It's getting late. You should get some rest. I'll head out first."
After saying that, he turned around, ready to leave.
Susan quickly called out to him, her face flushed red.
"I-It's already so late… y-you should just stay here for the night.
"I live here by myself and I… I'm scared."
Her voice got softer and softer, barely louder than a mosquito's buzz.
In the next second, Maguire simply scooped Susan up in his arms, and in a blink they were at the bedroom door upstairs.
Cradled shyly in his arms, Susan didn't even dare look at his face anymore.
Time flashed forward to the next day.
Morning sunlight spilled over the bed where Maguire was lying.
He slowly opened his eyes.
Glancing at Susan still sleeping soundly beside him, he quietly got up and headed toward the bathroom.
While Maguire was washing up, Susan slowly sat up. Last night had been a little… intense.
The soreness she had never felt before made her feel a bit strange.
She lifted the blanket.
A faint red stain appeared before her eyes.
After confirming she wasn't on her period, Susan arrived at a conclusion she could hardly believe.
"Last time… nothing actually happened between me and Maguire.
"That means whatever was on the bed that day was completely fake. Maguire was just messing with me."
But then she remembered that she'd also been trying to tease and prank Maguire that day.
And Maguire hadn't taken advantage of her—especially when he possessed such terrifying power.
He hadn't forced himself on her at all. That really showed what a genuinely good man he was.
Maguire came back into the bedroom.
Susan pointed at the red stain on the sheets and said,
"Care to give me an explanation for this?"
Seeing that, Maguire couldn't help but laugh.
"So you found out, huh? Yeah, nothing happened that day.
"In any case, what's coming next is going to be a big war."
At that moment, over in Spider Tower—
Garfield, Holland, Harry and the God of Thunder, Thor, were all gathered there.
Thor spoke up,
"Why isn't Mr. Maguire here yet? Garfield, did you tell him?"
Hearing that, Garfield hurriedly said,
"Of course I told him. I even bumped into him at dinner last night.
"Just wait a bit, he should be here soon."
Right then, a flash of lightning streaked across the room, and a figure suddenly appeared in everyone's view.
It was Maguire, wearing a black suit.
Seeing this unique entrance, everyone was taken aback for a moment, then quickly rushed forward to greet him.
Thor spoke up again,
"Mr. Maguire, you're here. There's something I'd like to ask your advice on."
Maguire nodded.
With a casual flip of his hand, a few cigars appeared in front of them.
"Anyone want one?"
This time, they actually all took one of Maguire's cigars.
But it was Garfield who lit them—after all, with the Molten Fruit, starting a fire was fast work for him.
