Chapter 135 - Chapter 135: Maguire Trapped in Outer Space

All of them stared in utter despair at the King of Monsters, Godzilla, looming in the distance.

It was as if something were guiding Godzilla, driving him straight toward the heart of New York City.

Godzilla hauled his colossal body forward, step by step, continuing his relentless advance.

Iron Man Tony spoke up, his voice tight with urgency.

"Even if we can't beat this thing, we've got to do everything we can to at least slow it down."

Hearing that, a look of grim resolve appeared on everyone's faces.

In truth, they were all asking themselves the same question in their hearts:

Was Hellblood Demon really guaranteed to beat a monster like this?

The power Godzilla had shown just moments ago was enough to plunge anyone into despair.

But for the tens of millions of civilians in New York, they had no other choice.

The next second, attacks rained out from every direction, all blasting toward Godzilla.

He had already reached the city limits.

Every step he took came with the collapse of yet another cluster of buildings.

Because they'd seen just how terrifying Godzilla's atomic breath was, no one dared to get too close.

All they could do was buy whatever time they could and try to slow his march.

The people of New York looked on in hopeless terror at Godzilla drawing nearer.

"Is that… a monster sent by God or something?"

"So many superheroes and not a single one can beat this thing!!"

"Is today really the end of New York…?"

Yet in the minds of most of the citizens, a single name surfaced.

"Where's Hellblood Demon? Why isn't he here saving New York?"

"We need you!!"

With Hellblood Demon still nowhere to be seen, some people started to lose control of their emotions.

"Hellblood Demon isn't a hero at all!!"

"He's scared, that's what it is—he doesn't dare come out and fight this monster!"

Accusations and frantic speculations spread through the crowds like wildfire.

Just then, Godzilla's massive figure suddenly stopped.

He turned his head toward a skyscraper off to the side.

It was none other than the Stark Tower of Stark Industries.

Seeing this, Iron Man frowned, staring at the scene before him—

and then a terrifying idea hit him.

"We can move the Tesseract and lure him somewhere else," Tony said.

"That way, the casualties will be much, much lower."

At that, Black Widow Natasha shouted, unable to hold back,

"We can't move the Tesseract yet! If we take it away, the wormhole above us will close!

"Hellblood Demon and the others are still out there in space—if we pull the Tesseract now, they'll never make it back!"

On one side were the tens of millions of civilians in New York.

On the other were the lives of Maguire, Holland and Thor.

For a moment, no one knew what to do.

Meanwhile, Godzilla was already lumbering closer to Stark Tower, his gigantic body swaying with each step.

Seeing how dire things had become, Tony shouted,

"We can't hesitate any longer! We have to take the Tesseract now—

"And draw this monster away from here!"

The next instant, Tony's armored figure shot toward the top of Stark Tower.

Godzilla's bloody maw was already open, just about to swallow the Tesseract in front of him.

At that critical moment, a figure flashed past.

The Tesseract atop the tower vanished, and Godzilla's massive jaws snapped down on empty air.

A moment later, his enormous eyes locked onto Iron Man Tony, floating in midair with the cube in his hands.

Right then, the wormhole in the sky suddenly disappeared.

Seeing this, Natasha's heart clenched painfully.

Tears slid down her cheeks.

"So this is what helplessness feels like…?"

"It's… been a long time since I felt this way."

Beside her, Garfield and Harry both wore the same grief-stricken expression.

No matter how terrifying Maguire's power was,

lost out there in the depths of space, trying to find his way back through the infinite cosmos…

It was almost impossible.

Harry's eyes reddened despite himself.

Garfield gently patted him on the shoulder.

"Maguire is a real hero."

High above, Iron Man Tony hovered with the Tesseract in his hands.

A voice came through his comms.

"Tony, get to the plains out west immediately.

"The higher-ups have decided to deploy a strategic-class weapon to wipe out this monster."

Hearing that, Tony understood exactly what they meant.

He turned and shot off toward the distant horizon at full speed.

Behind him, Godzilla's massive frame moved across the ground, each step sending tremors through the city.

Out in deep space, Maguire, Holland and Thor had just finished annihilating the entire Chitauri legion.

They looked out at the countless Chitauri corpses drifting in the vacuum.

Thor's eyes were filled with shock.

In less than an hour,

this enormous Chitauri army had been completely wiped out by just three people.

And Thor knew perfectly well that he'd spent most of the time coasting—

all he'd really done was clean up a few stragglers.

Maguire and Holland floated over to him.

"Since it's done, let's head back."

Just then, the wormhole out in the distance blinked out of existence.

Holland and Thor both froze, staring blankly.

"What the…? Why did the wormhole suddenly disappear?"

This wasn't just low orbit above Blue Star—

they were somewhere in the boundless void, an unnamed patch of deep space.

Holland and Thor both turned to Maguire.

"What do we do now?"

"We don't even have Blue Star's coordinates. And even if we did, with our speed…

"Trying to get back there would be basically impossible."

Thor's expression turned bleak.

"This isn't anywhere in the Nine Realms. The Bifrost can't help us here.

"Even if the three of us can reach the speed of light, trying to get back to the Nine Realms…

"Even the rest of my thousands of years of life wouldn't be enough."

Maguire, too, felt a wave of helplessness.

He might be able to briefly approach light speed,

but crossing the cosmos like this… was something he simply couldn't do.
