Chapter 59 - FTL

"I'm just a passerby, it doesn't matter. I'll leave humanity to you. Anyway, Corax has already returned to the Imperium. I just need to stay comfortably on Lycaeus and be a rich man.

There's no need to fight those xenos in the galaxy, and even less to face the Warp, that cesspit." Swain lay back on the sofa with a clear conscience.

"Aren't you afraid that the human race will fall into that terrible situation ten thousand years from now? You are also human." The Emperor was a bit anxious. This wasn't what he had expected. From Swain's actions on Lycaeus, he wasn't someone who would just lie flat.

"Heh, bananas have more human content than them. Besides, ten thousand years from now, my bones will be gone. Why should I worry about this?" Swain remained unmoved, lying on the sofa.

"Aren't you afraid that the Great Heresy will spread here?" The Emperor asked, looking at Swain, who was lying motionless on the sofa.

"No way, no way, Neos, you already have such detailed intelligence. Even if many changes happen later, there will still be a heresy that affects the Legion homeworld. How incompetent are you?" Swain had completely entered the state of a dead pig not fearing boiling water; no matter what the Emperor said, he wouldn't move.

"Alright, our esteemed Lord of the Imperium of Man, the great Emperor, my head is about to explode. I urgently need rest now. Please move to another room to rest." Swain pulled a switcheroo.

This was originally his territory, and the Emperor was a guest. Now this room was a mess, naturally unsuitable for entertaining distinguished guests.

"You sleep soundly. I think this room is very good." The Emperor said, then fell silent.

Swain, lying on the sofa nearby, didn't care about that much. His head was really about to explode. Being able to argue with the Emperor for so long while enduring such a severe headache was already his limit.

Swain fell asleep instantly after speaking, light snoring began three seconds later, and five seconds later, the snoring was like thunder....

Only the thunderous snoring remained in the room, and the Emperor, who had blocked his ears with psychic power and was once again lost in thought on how to break the deadlock.

Imperial Dilemmas

Faster-than-light travel and interstellar communication technology: these two problems were the biggest obstacles facing humanity, especially the former.

The current Imperium of Man could only rely on Warp travel to achieve faster-than-light travel, which meant that all Imperial fleets had to pass through the Warp, that cesspit. Although protected by Geller fields, if there were a choice, who would willingly do the backstroke in the cesspit that is the Warp?

The Emperor continuously summarized, categorized, absorbed, pondered, and reflected on the information the God-Emperor had transmitted to him, and time passed minute by minute.

Soon, an entire night had passed. Swain felt that this sleep was very uncomfortable. In his dream, a golden figure and a black figure were engaged in an unrestricted street fight in his mind.

They used every dirty trick imaginable. Compared to the carefully choreographed, highly watchable, and lethal martial arts moves in those films, the street brawling of these two scumbags was simply a pile of garbage.

In a daze, Swain only dreamed that he, unable to bear it any longer, gave each of these two bastards a kick, sending them flying.

"Ah…" Swain stretched on the sofa. Although two little people had been fighting in his head, his body had slept very well, as if it had undergone further development.

"Huh, why are you still here?" Swain, who had just gotten up, saw the Emperor still sitting in his original position like a ghost, even maintaining his previous posture, standing there like a statue.

"How long have I slept?" Swain asked.

The clock here had been caught in the crossfire of two rascals fighting.

"A day and a night," the Emperor snapped out of his contemplation.

"What? You've been watching me sleep for a day and a night?" Swain immediately felt his body, especially certain key areas, and breathed a sigh of relief when he found nothing unusual.

In unofficial histories, this man was very wild; there were many explosive gossips like the She-wolf of Rome.

"If we don't pursue the Webway, how do you think the human race can avoid the same fate as the Eldar?" The Emperor began his questioning; this was why he had stayed here all along.

The Emperor couldn't truly let Swain lie flat here. He needed to use all available power to contend with the Four Great Powers of Ruin in the Warp.

There were many things the Emperor couldn't tell others, whether it was Valdor, the Captain-General of the Custodes, or Malcador, who had urged him to take on the heavy responsibility. A lone wolf was always lonely, not to mention that he was about to rule an increasingly vast Imperium.

Since Olpersson left him due to ideological differences, the Emperor hadn't had a heart-to-heart conversation with anyone for a long time. As for Urda? She was merely an object that provided a bit of genetic material. Sparing her life was already the Emperor's consideration for her being a former companion of the Perpetuals.

"I didn't say you shouldn't tinker with the Webway, but why are you doing it at this current point in time? You must be insane." Swain continued to spew venom at Neos.

He wasn't sure why the Emperor was so obsessed with the Webway, and why he was in such a hurry to detach himself from the Great Crusade, severing himself from his vast army.

"The Webway Project can completely be put off until after the Great Heresy. As long as you don't fall, no matter who starts the Great Heresy, it's a small matter. Twenty-one Primarchs combined aren't enough to fight you alone." Swain completely changed his tune. The Emperor's invincible combat power in the physical universe was real, no denying it.

"The problem is, we only have about two hundred years before the Four Chaos Gods will once again unleash a Warp storm that can cover the entire galaxy. At that time, all the achievements of the Great Crusade will become fleeting, meaningless. Humanity will still become a delicacy served on the Chaos Gods' dining table." The Emperor stated the urgency of the timeline.

"What does a Warp storm sweeping the entire galaxy have to do with our physical universe? Are you and the humans of this universe perhaps filled with the Warp in your brains after more than ten thousand years of Warp travel?

Or is this inherently the Chaos Gods subtly influencing this race, and even you cannot avoid it? Perhaps the weaker you were then, you lacked the ability to avoid it?" Swain found the mysterious actions of the Emperor and the human elites in the Warhammer world incomprehensible.

In later generations, didn't the Mechanicus already achieve results? But they didn't seem to use them?

"After the Iron Men rebellion, you know, humanity's tech tree was completely destroyed. Humanity simply doesn't have the strength to research and develop its own faster-than-light travel capabilities." The Emperor sighed. How could he not know these things? The problem was that humanity simply couldn't do it.
