Chapter 116 - Kang the Conqueror, a Supervillain More Terrifying Than Thanos!

Pym Technologies. This was the company Hank Pym founded after leaving S.H.I.E.L.D.

It had grown quite large over time. While it certainly couldn't compare to Stark Industries, it was still a well-known and respected corporation in America.

Hank Pym, these days, was a man of status and influence, a member of the upper crust.

The idea of such a person turning to thievery was absurd.

Not to mention...

The previous diary entries had mentioned the Ant-Man of a parallel universe slaughtering the Avengers. Fury had secretly kept an eye on Hank Pym again.

The old man had handed over the company to his apprentice and daughter, and was enjoying a leisurely retirement. He hadn't been in prison at any point!

The spoilers in the diary had never been wrong!

So, what was going on with Ant-Man right now?

Could it be that his universe had finally started to diverge from Earth-199999?

Fury didn't know the specifics yet. It seemed he would have to wait until this wave of spoilers passed before investigating Ant-Man further.

But, you know, this Ant-Man guy is a bit of a headache.

He did make an outstanding contribution after the Infinity War; half the people on Earth owed him a huge debt.

But this whole family was also a ticking time bomb. Always going off to study the Quantum Realm, like that was something an ordinary person could mess with?

If they ran into the Quantum Virus, the whole universe would be finished, even Thanos wouldn't be able to escape it.

Even without the Quantum Virus, Kang the Conqueror was waiting in there.

He was an even more terrifying supervillain than Thanos!

Whoosh!

Nick Fury's expression immediately became grave, extremely grave, in fact.

As a master spy, the concept of the Quantum Realm was naturally familiar to the Director.

Even if he didn't understand it in depth, he certainly knew what it was.

With the current level of technology in human society, it was absolutely a cutting-edge field, and also a relatively profound and difficult one to understand.

Most current research on the Quantum Realm was still in the theoretical stage, or at a superficial level.

Precisely because of this, some related research on the Quantum Realm might come with a certain degree of risk.

As far as Nick Fury knew, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s secret agent, Ghost, had undergone a physical mutation due to radiation from quantum energy after an explosion in a quantum laboratory.

She gained the ability to become invisible at will and pass through walls!

The danger of the Quantum Realm was clear.

Even so, Nick Fury would never have anticipated the Quantum Realm being this dangerous!

It could actually threaten the entire universe!

Fury had never encountered the term "Quantum Virus" before, but just from the words, he knew it was a virus unique to the Quantum Realm.

Before this, Nick Fury really didn't know the Quantum Realm even had viruses. Of course, that wasn't important. What was important was that this virus was so terrifying.

Fury really couldn't imagine what kind of virus could destroy the entire universe!

Even a guy like Thanos couldn't avoid it.

This was, like, way too over the top, right?

What was even worse was that the threats of the Quantum Realm weren't just limited to this one.

There was also a supervillain even more powerful than Thanos: Kang the Conqueror.

This name was also new to Nick Fury. The diary had almost no further information besides the name.

However, it must be said that just looking at this nickname, one can roughly imagine the style and level of this Kang the Conqueror.

"Conqueror," this is not a nickname that just anyone can have!

Not to mention, the diary has already stamped it, and this guy is even more powerful than Thanos.

You must know that Thanos himself wiped out half the life in the universe!

Just how powerful is someone who's even stronger than Thanos? Thinking about it is enough to make one suffocate.

However, from the diary's meaning, this Kang the Conqueror is actually a supervillain existing within the Quantum Realm?

So, the Quantum Realm is actually a world where people exist?

It has to be said that this was far beyond Nick Fury's expectations, and even the Egghead was greatly surprised.

Then the question arises.

Since Kang the Conqueror exists in the Quantum Realm, does that mean others exist there too?

So, the Quantum Realm, like Earth, is not a dead world.

And a world that gave birth to life, spawned civilizations, and even saw the advanced development of civilization?

Damn, that's just too shocking!

Nick Fury believed that if this research result were made public, it would definitely shock the entire scientific community.

Of course, this was just the Egghead's subconscious grumbling; Egghead didn't care about the scientific community.

What he was really concerned about right now, without a doubt, was Kang the Conqueror, who was even more terrifying than Thanos!

It was just a pity that the "old habit" of that Satan had struck again, and the diary cut off right at the exciting part!

Nick Fury stared at the diary for several minutes, but didn't get the latest update, so he had to give up.

Slap!

Egghead didn't waste any more time and slammed the diary shut.

He began to carefully sort through and digest the important information he had just obtained from the diary.

After some contemplation, Nick Fury didn't delay any further.

He called one of his most loyal subordinates, Black Widow, to his desk.

"I knew it. I knew you'd call me after reading the diary, Director."

Black Widow greeted Nick Fury and then looked at the bald-headed man with a confident tone.

"Really?"

Fury's expression didn't change; he wasn't surprised. He just glanced at Black Widow with his one good eye. "So, what do you have to tell me?"

"I'd guess you want to know about the Red Guardian?"

Black Widow made this perfectly reasonable guess.

Of course, Black Widow knew this was probably only one of her Director's objectives.

After all, the diary had revealed a lot of important information. What other arrangements her Director might have for her, Black Widow didn't know.

Anyway, it's just that the things spoiled in the diary are inevitable.

"Alexei Shostakov, he's the guy mentioned in the diary."

"When I was very young, we once carried out a secret mission together in Ohio."

"We lived together for three years, and he pretended to be my father during that mission."

"After the mission, we separated and rarely saw each other again. We were active in different fields."

"But it seems that because of disagreements in ideology or some other reason, he was put into prison by Dreykov."

Black Widow told Nick Fury everything she knew about the Red Guardian.

"Dreykov?"

Fury's eyebrows rose. "So you're telling me that if we want to find the Red Guardian, we have to find this guy who's supposed to be dead?"

Dreykov was the founder and leader of the Red Room!

For a long time, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s intel had him listed as deceased.

Fury had sent Hawkeye Barton to investigate the Red Room for ages, but all he'd managed to uncover were some of the Widows under its control. He hadn't found any other leads.

"I know some of the Red Room's secret prison bases, but that was before I left."

"I can investigate, but I can't guarantee anything."

After some thought, Black Widow only offered this uncertain answer.

After all, a lot of time had passed, and the Red Room had undergone major changes. Who knew if those old prison bases even still existed?

Neither Black Widow nor Fury held out much hope.

However, neither of them knew that those secret prison bases were still operating perfectly, without any changes!

In the Black Widow standalone movie, Natasha found them quite easily.

And together with Yelena, they destroyed the secret prison and rescued the Red Guardian.

"You synchronize the information with Barton, and let him handle this."

After some consideration, Nick Fury gave Black Widow this order.

Barton was also an old adversary of the Red Room.

Back in Budapest, he and Black Widow fought the Red Room for several days before finally killing Dreykov and "destroying" the Red Room.

Furthermore, Hawkeye Barton had already been investigating the Red Room for months. It was very suitable to leave this matter to Hawkeye Barton.

"So, it seems I have other, more important things to do?"

Black Widow nodded without any objection, and at the same time, she made a logical judgment.

"Go investigate the matter of Black Captain America."

As expected, Fury immediately gave Black Widow a more important order, which didn't surprise her.

In terms of "professional ability," Black Widow and Hawkeye Barton were the same in Fury's eyes, no different.

The only difference between the two was that Black Widow knew the intel on Black Captain America, while Hawkeye Barton didn't!

And with Nick Fury's personality, he naturally wanted as few people as possible to know such crucial information.

So, it naturally fell to Black Widow.

"The relevant information revealed in the diary is too little. I can only start from the Korean War, Director. This will take a long time, and there's no guarantee of results."

Black Widow pondered briefly, then spoke to Nick Fury.

"This is a long-term mission."

Nick Fury nodded. He understood this kind of thing, naturally.

Black Widow didn't say anything more, but continued to ask, "Besides that, is there anything else?"

"Do you have any ideas on how to return Hulk to normal?"

Fury looked at Black Widow again.

Black Widow spread her hands in an innocent gesture: "Actually, sir, I'm just as clueless as you are. I want to know the answer as much as you do right now."

Even though her future self could bring Hulk back to normal, at this stage, Black Widow really didn't have any idea.

"I'm leaving this to you."

Nick Fury wasn't surprised by this. He simply issued another order to Black Widow, "It's a long-term mission. In short, it's up to you to get Bruce Banner to join the team."

"You're really putting a lot of pressure on me, Director."

Black Widow couldn't help but sigh.

"I believe you'll get it done."

The bald-headed Fury said to Black Widow with a straight face, then waved her off.

"Coulson."

After Black Widow left, Fury called the honest Coulson over and assigned him a mission as well.

"Investigate Hank Pym. I want to know what he's been up to lately."

"Also, I need to know if he's secretly researching something dangerous."

Hank Pym?

As a senior S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, Coulson naturally knew of this former legendary S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.

He was the famous Ant-Man!

Although he was a field agent in S.H.I.E.L.D. back then, he dared to confront Howard and the other high-ranking S.H.I.E.L.D. officials.

It's said that when he fell out with Howard and the others, he even punched one of the high-ranking S.H.I.E.L.D. officials and broke his nose.

And then he could walk away unscathed, transforming into a famous business tycoon.

He was quite a remarkable figure.

Just, why would the Director suddenly take an interest in him?

A flicker of doubt crossed Coulson's mind.

But the doubt was fleeting. Coulson didn't ask questions he shouldn't.

He only asked a related question: "Director, 'dangerous things,' could you be more specific?"

"For example, the Quantum Realm."

The Quantum Realm?

The first thought that flashed through Coulson's mind was the quantum explosion that created Ghost.

"Understood, Director."

Coulson also left to carry out his orders.

Following Coulson, Nick Fury then called Agent Hill over.

He assigned her some tasks as well, and then it was finally over.

However, from beginning to end, Fury didn't arrange for anyone to investigate the Super Soldier Serum.

This matter was too important; Fury intended to handle it personally!

Of course, the diary didn't offer any extra clues about the Super Soldier Serum.

In other words, this information was completely vague to Fury.

So there was no need to rush.

Before that, there was something else Nick Fury needed to handle.

What was it?

To have a good chat with Bruce Banner!

After Hulk was returned to normal, becoming Bruce Banner again, he was brought back to S.H.I.E.L.D. by the Director.

He was currently being held in the reception room.

Since he had this rare opportunity, Nick Fury might as well talk to Bruce Banner about the Avengers first.

Just like that.

With Nick Fury's orders, the core members of the Avengers, including Nick Fury himself, began to operate in an orderly fashion.
