Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Cruella's Pov.

...

"Stop running around, girls, and get dressed already!" Mom called as she came down the stairs.

"But Mom, Bella took my cupcake!" I protested, trying to justify my delay.

"Don't worry, Martha will make you another one when we get back."

I shot Bella a look as she happily devoured the stolen cupcake.

Anyway, let me introduce myself. I'm Curella Jesson, a 19-year-old college student, raised by two loving parents. I also happen to have a 16-year-old sister, Belle Jesson, who is the definition of annoying. I've got an older brother too… but that's a complicated story for another time.

And yes my family is rich. Like, filthy rich. But despite all that, my parents didn't raise us to be spoiled brats. We were taught to be humble, respectful, and hardworking.

My family was perfect inside and out. Sure, we had our ups and downs, but love was always in the air. On my list of future professions, I've got everything from becoming a fashion designer like Mom, to a businesswoman like Dad, or even a lawyer… and so on. Haha, sounds silly, right?

Today is a huge da like, really huge because it's Granny's 65th birthday. Mom wants us to look our absolute best.

I hurried back to my room to get ready; we only had about two hours before the party kicked off. Just as I stepped out of the bathtub, there was a knock on my door.

"Come in," I called softly.

It was Mercy, my personal maid. She's been working with us for the past two years, and I adore her. She's cheerful, friendly, and more like an older sister than a maid.

"Ella, I brought your clothes. The Mistress said you should choose one," she said with a playful glint in her eyes.

The black dress instantly caught my attention a floor-length evening gown made from luxurious silk. It had a fitted mermaid silhouette with dramatic flair… gosh, I'd better not get started describing it or I'll never stop.

"Ella, Dior Beauty will be here to help you with your makeup," she cautioned before turning to leave.

I wonder what Bella chose, I thought.

I took a moment to apply a light layer of cream to my soft, glowing skin, then began drying my hair while waiting for the team to arrive.

A few minutes later, they came—and after what felt like hours, I was finally ready. When I stepped downstairs, only Bella was there. She wore a stunning red gown, paired with statement diamond-encrusted earrings, a matching red clutch, and heels to complete the look. She was flawless.

"Where are Mom and Dad?" I asked, slipping on my heels.

"They took the lead," she replied curtly.

"You look good," I complimented her.

"And you look perfect," she said with a playful wink.

"So… we didn't get anything for Granny?" she asked while fastening my necklace.

"Don't worry

it's in the car," I assured her.

"All right. Shall we?" I asked in an exaggerated, dramatic tone.

"We shall," she replied with a grin.

We walked towards where the

We walked toward the waiting Mercedes-Benz, where Mr. Dave our driver stood ready. For safety, Dad had arranged for a bodyguard to accompany us, just in case.

Thirty minutes of smooth driving later, we rolled to a stop before Marion's towering black gates. The automatic doors slid open only after our invitation was verified yes, safety first, always.

Granny's mansion was even grander than I remembered. The number of security guards and maids here was at least double what we had at home. She lived alone in this enormous family estate, but it was run like a royal household.

The moment we stepped into the ballroom, I felt like I'd wandered into a fairy tale. Gold chandeliers sparkled overhead, polished marble floors gleamed underfoot, and every corner radiated elegance. It was a majestic, opulent space, exuding pure luxury and sophistication.

Let the party begin.

We were led to where Granny and the rest of the family were seated.

"Wow, look at my grandkids looking as elegant as always! Come here, my darlings, come sit with me," she said, spreading her arms wide.

Before I forget, we also have a cousin arrogant as ever. Seated to Granny's right were Aunty Sylvana, Uncle Leonard, and our cousin, Lara.

"Hi, Aunty. Hi, Uncle," we chorused in greeting.

Uncle Leonard gave us a nod, while Aunty Sylvana returned our greeting with a warm smile.

The party had begun, and well-wishers from across the globe arrived. The Browns, the Jacksons, the Presleys, the Lentons, and many other prominent families were in attendance. One thing Dad had warned us about was the McCarthy family. I'm not sure why, but that's what he said. Even though most of the guests were business people, Dad always made sure his children weren't used as bargaining chips during business discussions at parties.

Soon, people began presenting their gifts. That's when it hit me I'd left Granny's gift in the car.

"I have to get Granny's gift; I left it in the car," I whispered to Bella before slipping away from the crowd. I made my way to the parking lot and spotted Mr. Dave.

"Mr. Dave, please, I left a parcel in the car," I told him.

On my way in, I accidentally bumped into someone, nearly losing my balance, but he caught me just in time. My eyes were shut, yet his masculine scent made them snap open. That's when I found myself staring into a pair of ocean-blue eyes. God, no… this can't be love at first sight. Hell no.

For a moment I felt the world has frozen, voices buzzing. I could feel the warmth of his hand steadying me . My heart beat was too loud for my own liking.

I quickly pulled myself together forcing a smirk to mask my blushing cheek . I muttered a "thank you" and slipped away .

Geez that was embarrassing .

I rejoined my family and offered Granny the gift to her with a smile
