Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Chapter 2 The situation doesn't seem so bad?

Bane didn't know if this was a portal since he had never seen one before.

For now, let's just call it the Gate of Crossing.

When the portal opened, it looked like time and space around it were slowly freezing until the portal was fully formed.

At that moment, Bane felt that he couldn't hold this portal open for too long, he realized he could close it at any time.

This did not seem like the kind of portal described in the newspapers. In the past two weeks, Bane had gathered a lot of information about portals. He learned that portals come in different sizes. Some large portals reach the clouds and can be seen from hundreds of miles away.

There are also portals the same size as normal doors that go unnoticed.

But all these portals, without exception, were uncontrollable when they first appeared and could not be closed easily. There were no reports of a gate absorbing someone's physical strength to open.

"Has my time-travel situation changed? Is the legendary cheat about to arrive! ? " Bane thought excitedly.

Meanwhile, the colorful halo faded, and Bane slowly started to see what was outside the portal.

The time and space over there did not seem to be completely finished, as if they were still frozen.

Taking this chance, Bane peeked in to take a look. To his surprise, he found something unexpected.

The scene outside the portal looked like a murder scene. A man dressed like a cook had blood on his back, as if he had been stabbed. He was lying on the wooden floor of a dimly lit room, and the murderer had not yet left. From what Bane could see, the murderer had his back to him.

From behind, the murderer appeared fat and wore a black turban on his head. His messy long wavy hair was sticking out from the turban and hung down his shoulders. The ends of his hair were tangled, suggesting his style was bohemian and untidy.

At this moment, the murderer seemed pleased with himself. In one hand, he held a blood-stained dagger, likely the murder weapon, and in the other hand, he raised a strange-shaped fruit, which was probably the target of his crime.

When Bane saw this scene, it felt very familiar, as if he had seen it somewhere before.

It wasn't until he clearly saw the strange fruit that the murderer was holding, nearly touching his face, that he reacted.

"Isn't this a devil fruit? " Bane shouted.

There was no doubt about it; the devil fruit looked too familiar. Bane had liked reading those manga and watching the animations.

The scene seemed familiar to him, and looking at the devil fruit made him realize what was happening.

The portal opened up to the world of pirates. It was the last night of Blackbeard Marshall D. Teach working for the Whitebeard Pirates.

This was the night he killed Thatch, the captain of the Fourth Division of the Whitebeard Pirates, and took the legendary Dark-Dark Fruit, the most evil devil fruit ever.

Just as Bane understood what was going on, time and space returned to normal in an instant.

"Hahahaha, Thatch, just blame your own fate. I absolutely have to have this Dark-Dark Fruit. " Teach, holding the Dark-Dark Fruit, laughed maniacally.

He seemed to want to express all the hidden ambitions and desires he had for years, boasting in front of a corpse.

But before he could finish speaking, he sensed something was off, as if someone was watching him from behind.

Bane was a decisive man. Before Teach could finish, he acted quickly and grabbed the Dark-Dark Fruit right from Teach's hands.

Without speaking, Bane silently chanted to close the portal right after taking the fruit. He understood well that even though Teach became arrogant with the Dark-Dark Fruit, he was still very strong without it. After all, he had left a lasting scar on Shanks' face.

The reason Teach was not well-known in the Whitebeard Pirates was that he preferred to stay low-key, not because he was weak.

What Bane did was like spitting on Teach's head. Given how much Teach valued the Dark-Dark Fruit, they would instantly become mortal enemies after this theft. With Teach's strength, there was no way Bane could defeat him easily. It was crucial for him to escape quickly.

So, the moment Teach turned around, he saw Bane closing a door that seemed to appear out of nowhere.

"Bastard, give me the Fruit! " Teach yelled angrily, and a powerful energy exploded from his body.

He reached out to grab the intruder who had appeared from the portal, but in the next moment, the portal vanished, along with the Dark-Dark Fruit.

At that moment, Teach's face went pale. He had waited many years with the Whitebeard Pirates for a chance to get the Dark-Dark Fruit.

In the end, he killed Thatch and had the fruit, but at the last moment, a guy popped out of nowhere and took it away. You can imagine how frustrated he is now.

There was no time to think about so many things. Teach's strong observation Haki was released immediately, covering the whole ship and the sea around it.

At the same time, Teach's roar and burst of anger made others on the boat realize something was wrong.

"Teach! ? " A young and handsome guy quickly opened the cabin door and rushed in, looking worried. "What happened! ? "

If Bane had been there, he would have recognized this handsome young man right away. He was the reason for the Battle of Marineford. He was the biological son of the Pirate King Roger, the son of the strongest man in the world, and the captain of the second division of the Whitebeard Pirates, Portgas D. Ace.

Ace rushed in and asked what happened, but before Teach could answer, he saw Thatch lying in a pool of blood.

"Thatch! ? " Ace shouted in shock and hurried to squat beside Thatch to see what was wrong.

Meanwhile, Teach quickly regained his composure. His observation Haki couldn't find the guy who stole his devil fruit, and he needed to deal with the current situation.

"Thatch and I just finished drinking, and he was about to see me out when suddenly someone opened a strange door like portal in the cabin. It must be someone with special abilities. That guy grabbed the dagger from my waist, stabbed Thatch in the back, and took Thatch's devil fruit! " Teach gritted his teeth and explained the situation with anger.

After checking again and confirming that Thatch had stopped breathing, Ace's face showed pure anger. His eyes were filled with pain, but he did not doubt Teach.

He still trusted his companions in the Whitebeard Pirates deeply, and Teach's angry expression was clearly not fake. Besides, he thought Teach had no reason to kill Thatch.

Also, Ace wasn't one to overthink, so he believed Teach right away as soon as he spoke.

"Did you see the other person clearly? He dared to attack anyone from our Whitebeard Pirates. Even if he runs to the ends of the earth, I will find him and kill him to avenge Thatch! " Ace asked, mixing anger with grief.

Teach nodded and held back his anger. He said, " I will have the painter draw his portrait later. I have to find this bastard and cut him into pieces! "

At the same time, on the other side of the gate, Bane stood in the dim corridor. He was looking at the Dark-Dark Fruit in his hand that he had taken from Teach. He touched his chin and thought, "After leaving that world, does this devil fruit still have its original ability? "

But since there are already many strange powers in this world that have appeared after passing through the gate, then. . . this dark fruit should still be effective, right?

However, Bane could feel the portal in his body. It seemed to be able to open again at any time if he had enough physical strength. A smile appeared on his face, and he thought, "The situation doesn't seem so bad? "
