Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Mc Pov

The first thing I noticed was the coffee.

A tall glass of iced americano sat in front of me, condensation sliding down its sides, pooling onto a paper napkin.

I had no idea what happened or how I got here.

I glanced around the busy café, my confusion growing. It felt like a strange dream — except the smells, the chatter, the clinking cups… everything was too vivid to be fake.

Then a vibration drew my eyes to the table.

A new-looking smartphone sat there, screen glowing with an incoming call.

Mom, it said.

My breath caught. My mom passed away three years ago…

My hand moved on instinct, reaching for the phone, when suddenly—

A sharp, stabbing pain shot through my skull.

I froze, clutching my head as the world around me seemed to dim. The café's chatter faded to a dull hum and then the memories came.

Not just mine.

Different places, different moments — classrooms, smoky bars, faces I knew, but couldn't possibly have met. Names and companies I'd only ever heard in movies. Stark Industries, Von Doom, Wayne Enterprises, LexCorp and more

All of it crashing into me at once, like someone had taken my brain and hit "download" on an entire new life.

This wasn't my body.

The memories weren't mine — they belonged to him.

Liam Raven Harper.

No father. Only a mother… and that mother was none other than Evelyn Harper from Two and a Half Men.

Flashes of memories came faster. Charlie Harper's smug grin, Alan's neurotic rambling. Brothers. They were this guy's brothers and Liam? He was different.

He is the apple of Evelyn's eye not because he played her games, but because he was her prodigy. Straight-A student. Into MMA and tennis for fitness, but talented enough to compete professionally.

The memories showed that he got 180 out of 180 in the LSAT, got a full scholarship to Harvard Law, top of his batch and his name in gold letters on an academic board at the Harvard library.

He had finished Harvard Law as the best student in its history.

And now… today… The Bar Exam results were coming out.

The phone kept vibrating, showing Mom

It didn't make sense.

Liam's family… They are the Harpers.

The Harpers. Evelyn, Charlie, Alan and Jake — sitcom lives burned into my mind like they'd always been real but there was more.

Companies and names that shouldn't exist anywhere outside of comic books and movie screens like Stark Industries, Oscorp, Von Doom Industries, WayneEnterprises are also present.

They weren't fiction here, they were real.

Real buildings, real CEOs, real power.

The phone kept buzzing. Mom.

My hand hovered over it. I wasn't sure if answering would make this world make more sense… or make it a whole lot stranger.

I swiped to answer, pressing the phone to my ear.

"Liam, why did it take you so long to pick up?" Evelyn's voice came through, smooth and warm — nothing like the sharp, sarcastic tone I remembered from the show. This was… softer.

'Right. Liam was her favorite.'

I took a second to pull from my new memories — the way Liam interacted with her. Not too close but not too cold.

Respectful, but never letting her sway his decisions. Always his own man.

"Hi Mom" I said evenly. "I'm busy right now. I'll call later."

She didn't sound offended. "I just wanted to know — your Bar exam results should be coming out today."

"Not out yet," I replied. "I'll call you later."

There was a small pause. Then, with surprising sincerity, she said, "I love you, and I'm proud of you."

"Ok. Bye."

I ended the call before I could overthink it.

I set the phone back down on the table, my mind replaying everything that had just happened. Evelyn's tone, the memories, the impossible mix of sitcom and comic book reality…

Then something new hit me.

A faint chime, and suddenly a translucent blue screen appeared in my vision — like a HUD straight out of a video game.

A calm female voice spoke clearly. "Magic System awakened. I am your AI assistant, here to help you."

On the left side of the screen, bold text displayed Stats. On the right, three glowing icons: Magic Bank, Magic Phone, Contract & Potions Shop.

I blinked. "…Hello?" I said aloud.

She answered instantly. "Hello, User. However, you do not need to speak out loud. Merely think your words and I will respond. Talking to yourself will look… socially unfavorable."

Her tone had a faint, robotic hum to it — somewhere between Jarvis and a slightly judgmental GPS.

I leaned back in my chair, still staring at the floating interface only I could see.

Right. Totally normal. Bar exam results and a personal heads-up display on the same day.

'Can you explain what's going on?' I asked her in my head, half-expecting silence.

"Sure," she replied instantly, voice crisp but smooth, the kind of tone that could read an obituary or a restaurant menu with equal composure.

"You died in your previous life. Cause of death… Heart Attack."

'Heart Attack?'

"Yes," she replied.

"Your soul was randomly selected from the available pool and transferred into this new body in this new world by my creator."

I stared down at my hands, flexing them slowly. 'I knew this body wasn't mine'

"Correct. This is the body of Liam Raven Harper — a highly accomplished individual. Harvard Law graduate. Your memories have merged with his, allowing you to function as him without suspicion."

My mind was still spinning and a thought hit me like a cold splash of water.

'Wait… did I kill this guy?' There was a short pause before her voice returned, as calm as ever.

"No. This body was specifically created to house a new soul of my creator's choosing. You did not replace an existing person."

Frowning, I asked. 'Created? Like… cloned? Lab-grown?'

"Closer to fabricated. Biologically identical to a natural human, with a complete medical history, legal identity, academic record, and social connections generated and inserted into this world's existing data streams. No one here will question your existence."

'That was… unsettling. So everyone thinks I've always been Liam Harper? Even my new family?'

"Correct. To them, you have always existed. They have memories of you. There are photographs, report cards, trophies, even medical files — all indistinguishable from the real thing and let it sink in, I asked 'So, this isn't some poor guy who had an unfortunate 'accident' just so I could take his place.'

"No. The Liam Harper identity is a construct. The life you remember through his memories is genuine to this reality, but there was never an original soul inhabiting it before you arrived." exhaling slowly

'Well… that's slightly less horrifying.'

"I am glad you are comforted," she said flatly. "That was my intention." Her tone was so neutral it almost felt sarcastic. Almost.

My next question was 'What is this world?'

"It is a constructed reality made up of fictional characters from different series and movies," she replied as if she were explaining weather patterns.

I almost laughed. 'You mean..'

"Yes. Television, films, comics. Characters you know, living actual lives here. Integrated into a single functioning society. Sitcom universes, Marvel, DC and others."

I leaned back in my chair, eyes scanning the café again. People looked normal enough, but her words echoed in my head.

'So… superheroes? Magic? Aliens?'

"No. This world is grounded. No supernatural abilities. No alien invasions. The only deviation from normal human limits is rare, scientifically-based human enhancement — and to date, only one fully successful case exists: Steve Rogers."

'Captain America.'

"Correct. Many organizations exist, but without superhuman powers, their influence is rooted in science, technology, money, and politics."

I rubbed my temples, letting it sink in. 'So… you're telling me I've woken up in a world where Harvey Specter could be negotiating against Norman Osborn or Charlie Harper could be drinking next to Victor Von Doom at a bar?'

"Yes."

I let out a short laugh, though it came out sounding more like disbelief.

'Right. Totally normal.'
