Only 10 days remain before the long-awaited eclipse for us, the new generation of mages. We must already prepare to head north. This journey will take seven days because of the many people who will be coming along with us. Our village is located in the southeast of Midway, which lies on the edge of the human continent. So, we will pass through the kingdom of Nibi, then visit the center of the city of Okto, three days before the eclipse.
The journey went as planned. Thanks to my father's horse, we were able to discover many things. I truly envy the people who live in the center of Midway—they have such a beautiful landscape. While the horse was resting, my father trained me with a foam sword. Even shocked by my potential, he also trained me in magic since he is an adventurer.
Five days passed, and we stood before the entrance gate—a massive stone door guarded by soldiers. After verification, we entered Okto and quickly went to reserve a room for three people. Even two days before the festival (the festival is an event dedicated to the eclipse), all the inns were already full.
Later, I bought some purple candy apples (which increase mana, but they don't work for children who haven't gone through the awakening). Then, I tasted dried meat, which is incredibly delicious to eat at night.
The first day of the festival began, with stands beautifully decorated. To eat, you have to wait a long time, but it's heartwarming to see happy families. What I noticed, though, is that the bars are almost empty—perhaps the fathers prefer to stay with their wives and children.
On the second day, nothing had changed. The stands now displayed drawings of the food they sold. The little ones were all delighted, even those my age. The lines grew a bit longer. What fascinated me the most were the blacksmiths crafting all sorts of weapons and armor. In addition, there were mages using magic to amaze us and make us even more impatient to awaken—even though they were only using fire magic, which is completely basic. The dishes were delicious (especially the ramen).
On the third day, the atmosphere changed a little. There were magnificent shows using superior magic (the magicians from the second day were using lower, even basic, magic). I also loved seeing the houses in front of us. Yes, they showed us archaeological and historical sites from when the demons ruled this continent.
The day of awakening arrived. We gathered—the seven-year-olds—and began to meditate. Several among us were nobles.
And then, suddenly, when the moon passed… an energ—
To be continued…
