Chapter 12 -  Act 8 - The Books

[Enter scene: Reader, Random, Guy who was Relaxed to the Stage, Actors 25 - 35 to the Stage]

The Dock, this is the part where people form parties, however in the system there is no concept of parties except for very rare occasions, of which this would be one of those rare occasions to at least find good candidates. Unfortunately since me and kazuma don't have a chance of getting to the biggest boat in time we'll have to go for one of the small ones, due to the enormous amount of people a small boat would have the capacity of at least fifteen people.

Finding party members should be fairly easy, ever since I have read [Prelude - 7 million and 2034 years], it was divided into sections called the [Books], describing every single interaction, every single thought people have had to form into those interactions. I have known everyone here, and I will know everyone at the hotel. With millions of people at the Hotel however, it'll be impossible to find the perfect party members, let alone the three [Star] title holders, it'd be a miracle to find a title holder at all. Some people are so good at the game, they tend to do whatever they want.

A little over a half have survived, so about half of 897 billion would be about 451 billions of us left…

Despite the first scenario being relatively easy, people would be used to this way of life causing the death rate to be about fifty percent, the lucky ones only had to already complete the task they were doing hundred percent, the unlucky ones however were people who had actually traveled or visited important places, people like that felt like they had a knife by their throat during the whole scenario.

At this point in time people just jump ahead at the next scenario they're in.

We won't be doing that.

Even if it is impossible to find a perfect candidate I'll be damned if I don't do everything in my power to try.

The way the Star System works is that it organizes people and puts them into scenarios, the way it organizes them is they put them up in the night sky as stars, your regular person's star wouldn't shine that brightly, you would need a telescope to fully see it shine as much as a higher beings star, it's also the reason why the Hotel has a glass ceiling, allowing you to see everything going on. Some of the higher beings have already figured this out, some of them even start scaring the regular travelers

Act 9 - Hotel, Excerpt: Guy who was Relaxed

[Guy who was Relaxed runs toward his Room number and slams the door shut, he cannot believe what others had to get through, some had to murder their own families, and for what? A slight chance of survival in the future? Guy who was Relaxed only had to finish his math test. He finally gets himself to calm down in bed, and looks up at the glass dome ceiling and sees a peculiar slightly red star,

- A Higher Being has taken a notice of you -

This moment will have a permanent effect on him]

Poor guy.

Of course the only star you can't see is your own star because you are it, so the only way you'd be able to know if you're close is if the owner's star is right above you. I expect the Hotel must've been brightened up when me and Kazuma used our titles,

[A small white boat, teeters its door toward them, almost all the others have left,

leaving this little boat as the closest one facing them.]

[Random and Reader get on excited to finally rest on their journey]

"Let's talk about what we'll do at the hotel when we get there,"

"Sure."

[A few of the people there sit-up out of interest, all of them want to hear what their two heroes are going to say]

"Alright… I guess since everyone's listening I'll start from the top again,"

[Reader takes a big breath before continuing,]

"First off the Hotel is a place to relax, but before you get into your room, eat as much as you can, scenarios can take weeks to finish before you find any food, so make sure you stuff yourself as much as you can, even when you feel like you can't eat anymore just try not to think about it. There will be dangerous people there, you can't be sure what person is with you, only people you can trust are those who were with you since the beginning, or your party members, but we'll get to that later. You'll have eleven hours at your disposal, use nine of them to rest, the other two to find your group, or family, do whatever you want, and then go to your room, whoever stays in your room, they will be your 'party members'. The rest of this conversation is for me and kazuma only, but do feel free to listen however much you want. Lastly, try not to follow us."

[Random's attention is piqued.]

No matter how much I try, people will always be around us, but it just feels wrong not to tell them that Kazuma and I would have to be at death's door every day.

"Lets continue where we left off Kazuma, under normal circumstances it'd be impossible to find the perfect party members, but of course, I've already came up with a method, I'll elaborate on it later, but here's the gist of it: Do you remember when we stared at those higher beings up in the sky?"

"Yeah,"

"When we arrive we simply go under to where the next brightest star is."

"That checks out with me."

Of course, I can't tell them my whole plan, otherwise they'll figure out I know what the future is.

[The boat speeds up a little, as if it's rushing or targeting something far off into the distance. The sky turns black and the passengers lose their breath, scared of the oncoming death they might have to face, only Reader and Random stand up bravely.]

"Woah, that's an interesting power, I wonder how we'll use it Yulihan,"

"Of course, I already thought of eight ways."

"Thirteen, beat you five, " [Random said while chuckling, Reader chuckles a bit too, albeit a bit annoyed.]

[The ship goes mute for second, everybody is in their own mind silent, now even the ocean seems to disappear, they see a light shining of a copper hue in front of them, suddenly, it expands revealing the entire building, the water and boat are now full gone, and they tumble over themselves a little disoriented. Unknowing of the scene before them, they first get out of Reader and Random's way]
