Ivy
I looked up, trying to get a glance but then I shook
as I caught sight of him, my head immediately buried into my food.
My heart raced violently as I chugged down the food,
trying my best not to let him notice me.
He was here. Why? Was the one who sent me here
playing tricks on me?
"Who are they?" I whispered after I
noticed the hall had calmed down. She scoffed, also keeping her head down.
"Who else? Of course the one I told you
about." She said, genuinely scared
that they would heather voice. I nodded. Even though I didn't know it was so
scary, I for sure didn't want to go near him.
I rushed my food, trying my best to finish quickly
so I could leave.
A cough. I looked up from my food only to see Aria
coughing. From the looks of it, it seemed like she was also rushing the food.
I raised a brow as I said "Calm down."
I looked back down to my food when I heard a gasp, I
turned and saw a student had tripped but he crossed the lane and although he
wasn't there. His food was splashed all over the circle's corner.
I gulped about to look away when I caught sight of
him. His gaze directly fixated on him. We looked into the eyes, no words spoken
but thousands said.
I didn't need anyone else to tell me, he had
recognised me.
I stared lost in his gaze as I recalled the
incidents from his house. He was my step brother, Cassian and the past I
desperately tried to erase but still he was here.
Staring at me, the recognition was evident.
I blinked, my heart pounding as I looked away from
him. Aria looked at me in confusion.
"What's wrong?" She questioned, probably
didn't see me when I gazed towards them. I smiled, shaking my head like nothing
had happened.
She packed up our plates and got up to her feet.
"Let's leave since we're done." She said, stepping away from the
table.
I moved closer to her, when a sound echoed in the
hall. I wanted to turn but she gripped my hand tight and said. "Don't
look."
Her voice was cold with seriousness. She sounded
like she would be the first to ignore me if I did. I took a deep breath in as I
followed her out, it wasn't until we were out the door that I dared relax.
"I'm having a lecture now, you can return to
the dorm. Your lectures will start tomorrow." She smiled, waving me off
like she wasn't the same person who threatened me just now.
I sighed.
Walking towards the dorm as I prayed deep down in me
that I would never encounter him again.
THE DINING ROOM.
I didn't meet Aria in the dorm by the time I woke up
and I already knew where she was. Sure enough, she had grabbed a plate for me
and was seated, already half way through her food.
I smiled as I sat opposite her and she flinched.
Almost like she had seen a ghost.
I scoffed, grabbing the food as I sat. "What?
You're scared of me now? Why didn't you wake me?" I asked and she looked
up at me, glaring at me coldly before she looked back to her food.
"Why didn't you tell me?" She asked and I
raised a brow, staring at her in confusion before she scoffed.
"You can drop the act already, " he
revealed. Why keep pretending?" She asked and I raised a brow, genuinely
confused at her sudden behaviour.
She seemed like someone who had been betrayed.
"Which one? I know no one else but you in this place."
I said and she smiled finishing her plate as she got
up. "I guess you're just going to continue the pretense. Just stay away
from me, I don't want trouble."
She said, walking away without giving me any extra
hints. I stared at her retreating figure in awe.
What exactly could she be talking about? I wanted to
chase after her but I couldn't let my food go, I would starve.
I walked out of the dining hall, feeling the need to
talk to her or I would lose all chances of surviving here. I sighed, hoping she
wouldn't leave the dorm by the time I returned.
I sighed, finally pulling out of the daze to notice
people staring at me.
They looked at me like I had stolen something
valuable from them.
I raised a brow, at the ladies, even guys who seemed
to look at me in fear, and jealousy. My head ran wild with this behaviour. They
were all acting like Aria did but without the look of disappointment.
I tried shrugging off the behaviour when someone
bumped into me.
I turned ready to apologise but the person shrilled
in fear as he ran away. He ran so fast you would think he saw a ghost.
I itched my head in confusion as I stared at his
retreating figure. What was it and the change in behaviour in a day. Or was this some
alternate universe?
I questioned, scoffing before I continued on my path
but someone fell right in front of me.
His face stayed plastered on the floor while I
looked towards the person who made his trip already running. I scoffed, bending
down to help him when he spoke.
"I'm sorry...I'm very sorry...I won't do it
again, please." He shouted, his body shivering with every word he said.
He...He was sacred.
I looked at him in confusion finally realising what
had happened, everyone here had the expression. They were all terrified of me.
As much as I would like it, this seemed really
suspicious.
I drew him up before I said. "I'm not going to
hurt you."
He nodded, still not sparing me a glance before he
sprinted away. I stared at his silhouette still wondering what could have gone
wrong when I sighted Aria.
She also saw me but rather than coming close, she
turned the other way. Desperate, I called out. "Aria."
