Chapter 5 - Prestigious law firm of Smith and Associates

Irish stood confidently in front of the sleek, European-style building that housed the prestigious law firm of Smith and Associates.

The building's exterior was made of gleaming glass and steel, with a large, silver sign bearing the company's logo.

The area was filled with luxurious cars, most of which were high-end business vehicles, and people in expensive suits hurried in and out of the building.

In comparison, Irish's outfit looked like it had been plucked straight from a bargain bin, making her feel out of place among the sea of sophistication.

However, she held her head high and strutted into the building, her heels clicking on the marble floor.

The lobby was spacious and elegantly decorated, with a large chandelier hanging from the ceiling and a few pieces of modern art adorning the walls.

"Hello Ma'am,what business can I help you today."A woman in a black professional dress smiled at Irish from behind the reception desk,

But despite her smile it was clear it was part of her job, her eyes couldn't hide her disdain.

After all, the girl looked ordinary probably in her eighteens and she gave off the vibe of a country bumpkin college student. If it weren't for her job she wouldn't have bothered to say a word to her.

The woman's long, curly brown hair was pulled back into a tight bun, and her bright red lipstick seemed to clash with her pale skin.

She looked like she had been sucking on a lemon, and her voice was just as sour.

Irish stood tall and replied confidently,

I am here to visit Mr. Thompson. To see the chairman."

"To see the chairman do you have an appointment."

Technically he sent her a message, but didn't set an appointment.

"uh no!" Irish said faintly.

Upon hearing this, the disdain in the woman's eyes deepened.

Ever since Irish walked in, she had looked down in her.

Out of professional courtesy, she had engaged her in a conversation, but she already judge him as a clueless college student sneaking in for a look.

It was like been curious about a building and coming in to take a closer look.

After all, the status and business scope of the law firm were not something just anyone could access.

The client who came here were typically well dressed and affluent. Given Irish age and attire , there was no way she could have any business here.

Now that she heard his response, her initial judgement were only reinforced.

Her smile faded.

With a sarcastic tone, she said."I'm afraid Mr. Thompson is a very busy man. He doesn't have time to meet with people who don't have an appointment."

Her voice was firm but polite, her tone dripping with condescension.

Irish felt a surge of frustration, but she didn't let it show

Instead, she replied, "I understand that he's busy, but I assure you that my meeting with him is of the utmost importance."

The receptionist raised an eyebrow, her expression skeptical. "I'm afraid that's not possible. Mr. Thompson only meets with high-end clients and business associates. I'm sure you understand that his time is valuable and he can't waste it on...frivolous meetings."

Irish stood her ground, her eyes locked on the receptionist.

'I understand that you have a job to do, but I assure you that my meeting with Mr. Thompson is crucial. I'll wait as long as it takes.'

The receptionist's expression turned cold, her voice dripping with malice. 'I've already told you that he's busy. If you don't leave, I'll have to call security.'

Her voice was loud enough to draw the attention of everyone in the lobby.

People started to stare, their faces filled with curiosity. One of them, a middle-aged man in a business suit, sneered at Irish.

"What is she doing here? She looks like a college student."

Another person, a young woman with a briefcase, whispered to her coworker, "I know, right? She's so out of place."

The receptionist smiled, her eyes gleaming with triumph. "As I said, she's not welcome here. Please leave, or I'll have to call security.'

Irish didn't flinch.

She stood tall, her eyes locked on the receptionist's.

'I'm not leaving until I speak with Mr. Thompson,' she said, her voice firm.

The receptionist rolled her eyes. 'Fine, have it your way.'

She picked up the phone and dialed a number, her eyes never leaving Irish's face.

'Security, we have a trespasser in the lobby. Please escort her out.'

A few minutes later, two burly men in black suits appeared, their faces stern.

The receptionist pointed to Irish. 'Please escort this woman out. She's trespassing.'

The men approached Irish, their hands reaching out to grab her arms.

Irish didn't resist, but she didn't go quietly either. 'Mr. Thompson! I need to speak with you!' she yelled as the men dragged her out. 'Please, just hear me out!'
