CHAPTER 33: | MORE DEMONIC SERAPH?

---

Time passed as we had traveled thousands of miles away from the cavern where we were born.

It was quite boring since we encountered nothing formidable throughout our journey.

But Liora's improvements were quite impressive, as she was going to hit the wall of 'solidified world intent' in a couple of days.

And, more importantly, her strength had yet again improved, as Liora was now at 'Tier 4', and her physique was about to reach the mark of '1.00' in a matter of days.

I sighed as it was such a pity that we couldn't ride the orca mounts of the crabmen a few days ago, as they had escaped.

Such a pity indeed, but there was no point in thinking about it.

"Hey, Master, look over there!"

Liora jumped around as she pointed somewhere down where she was standing.

Slowly, I walked toward her as I ruffled her hair, then scanned the surroundings below us.

Hmmm.

An expanse could be seen below me.

A smile curved onto my face.

Before I could speak, Liora tugged at my arm, then pointed at the expanse below.

"Master, look over there! Don't you think those figures are quite familiar?"

Interested, I scoured where she pointed, and I was quite shocked at the scene before me.

The crabmen that we encountered on our first day outside of the cavern were battling something hovering above their castle.

Hmmmm?

"Oh, aren't those the very same Seraph that knocked you out a few days ago?"

Liora nodded her head in anger as she brandished her sword with murderous intent.

"Master, let us help those poor, delicious crabs and vanquish those demonic guys!"

Liora jumped down without my consent, charging forward toward where the Seraph was flying.

I sighed, then leaped from the ground.

Crack!

Pain erupted on my back as wings like those of the Seraph protruded from my back as I glided toward them.

My form cut through the water.

I felt the resistance as I flew faster.

My wings cut through the currents as I dived through the water and toward the Seraph, licking my lips.

---

The ground shook as the crabmen held their forts from the Seraphs' hurricanes.

Their shields were shredded apart.

As a King Seraph let out a barrage of hurricanes.

Shouts echoed.

"Hold your ground, my brothers and sisters!"

In a room secluded from anything happening on the surface, ornaments could be seen embedded on the walls.

The Matron, with a human-like body, sat on her throne as her child shouted in urgency.

"Matron, what should we do?! The otherworldly Seraphs have besieged us for days of no ends! At this rate, we would starve before they could breach!"

The Matron gazed at her child as she pondered of solutions that could fix this situation in front of her.

The Matron couldn't recklessly fight the leader of the Seraphs by herself, or she would endanger herself.

"Matron, we're outnumbered! The Seraphs have an Overlord, 7 Kings, and 10 Lords! Matron, what should we do?!"

Her child's voice was that of despair as one of them reported the situation above.

She pondered.

She knew that she was stronger than the leader of the Seraphs, but would her children be able to buy her time?

The answer was no.

"Matron, please speak! Please share your wisdom with us!"

Another of her children spoke with a panicked voice as they kneeled and pleaded for her knowledge.

The Matron remained on her throne, pondering as she ignored the pleas of her children and thought of a plan that could turn this situation around.

The shouts of her children echoed as she raised her hand, and her blue eyes let out a cruel gleam.

"Silence... we are now at war, so don't panic, my children."

All of her children shut their mouths at her command as she waved her hand with glee.

"Now is the time for us to think of countermeasures for how I would kill their leader."

One of her children, covered in an exoskeleton filled with spikes, spoke with dread.

"Mother, we all know that you could kill their leader... but none of us could hold our own against the seven kings."

The Matron knew that only one of her children, the Chitinous One, was the only King-class among her children.

It was a sad reality that her child had died from unknown monsters, followed by the invasion of the otherworldly Seraphs.

When the force of her family was still greatly weakened.

She sighed, as perhaps she was jealous of Lumicor, the god of the luminescent trench, who could kill these invaders in a matter of seconds.

But there was no way that such a being would help her, even if she pleaded or offered herself.

She clenched her jaw with anger as she muttered, despair visible on her face.

"Perhaps this is the end of our family."

Her children couldn't raise their heads to meet their mother, as they were too ashamed of their incompetence.

The Matron could feel it, the presence of her children's above were gone.

She sighed as eight figures were now right at the door outside of the room.

Her children braced their own weapons as they prepared for her death.

Then sounds of explosions, something crashing into the walls, shrieks, and cries erupted outside.

Boom! Crash! Shriek!

Shock was palpable on her face as she pointed at the door, her hands trembling with fear.

"Something... something monstrous is outside."

Creeeek!

The door opened as two figures appeared.

Dread worse than the appearance of the Seraph appeared on her face as she clenched her teeth, then shouted.

"Bow down!"

Clack! Clack! Clack!

The sounds of footsteps filled the water, accompanied by the ragged, nervous breathing of her children.

The Matron clenched her teeth, then raised her head.

Pang!

Pain struck her head before her eyes could meet the eyes of the being directly in front of her.

Its eyes glowed with intense pressure.

Cough! Cough! Cough!

Blood seeped from her eyes as her seven orifices bleed her delicate body trembled under the mountainous pressure pinning her down.

She pressed her head even harder on the ground.

"Please... spare my children."
