Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Six Eyes — Level 2

A terrifying azure vortex swirled into existence — Six Eyes, Level 2 — devouring everything in its reach.

The moment Sam Moore unleashed Technique Shift — Blue, he felt the difference. All his stored energy instantly converted into cursed energy, burning through his reserves at a much faster rate.

The once‑pineapple‑sized sphere exploded outward, expanding to the size of a basketball.

The power spike was undeniable. So was the cost.

Even so, the performance of Blue at its new level didn't disappoint. The vortex raced forward—more than twice its original speed—straight at the Lizard.

The monster froze for half a second, instincts screaming danger. But at this range and speed, there was no escape.

From her position, Gwen watched in shock as the reptilian body twisted grotesquely, muscle and skin warping inward toward a single point. Then, with a sickening pull, a roaring azure sphere tore through the Lizard's chest, consuming flesh, bone, and blood until nothing remained.

And it didn't stop. The vortex kept devouring—the air, the cracked pavement, chunks of wall, streetlights—anything nearby.

Her horror deepened as it roared toward her.

Badly injured, she couldn't dodge. The pull was already prying at her body, dragging her forward. The last scraps of thought in her mind went white. Death was all that was left.

And then… it vanished.

The pull stopped. The spinning vortex dissolved into nothing.

Gwen stumbled back, gasping, a sharp realization hitting her—she had never been that close to dying. Never felt so completely helpless.

Is that really a power a human can control?

Sam lowered his hand, satisfied. The upgraded Blue was even stronger than he'd hoped. At Level 4 or 5, he might match Gojo Satoru's full destructive force. Push beyond that, and he could surpass even Gojo.

As the dust settled, Sam glanced toward New York's "friendly neighborhood" Spider-Woman. She was down, injuries running deep. His Six Eyes scanned her with perfect clarity—multiple fractures, minor internal bleeding, torn muscle fiber. Painful, but her natural healing factor was already at work.

Even so, they were deep in Hell's Kitchen, and the fight had drawn too much attention. He wasn't a hero by any stretch, but watching a character he'd admired in his past life die here didn't sit right with him.

Following the flow of those alerts, Sam used the Six Eyes to guide his hands, gently but precisely repositioning her dislocated bones and stabilizing the damage to speed her healing.

Then the thought struck him. He reached up, peeled back her hood and mask—and froze for a moment.

Short blonde hair. Refined features. Gwen Stacy. Even more striking in person than in animation or on film.

The motion stirred her awake. Blinking, disoriented, Gwen found herself looking up at the white‑haired man holding her. She jolted back instantly, springing several meters away—only for her still‑healing body to betray her. She stumbled, caught herself roughly, and stood again with effort.

"You… you… YOU—"

Her hands flew to her face. The mask was gone. She saw it in his hand and realized what that meant.

Oh God. My identity. He knows. I've only been Spider-Woman for days!

Sam raised an eyebrow. "Didn't think our good neighbor Spider-Woman would be this young. You're still in school, right?"

"You… Why did you take my mask off?!"

Sam tilted his head and gave her a bright, unapologetic smile. "Not okay? Then I'm sorry. If it bothers you that much, you can hit me."

Gwen: "…!"

From the instant kill on Dr. Lizard alone, she knew there was no way she could take him.

"Why did you kill him?" she asked finally. "Dr. Connors only turned violent because of the mutation. He was a good man before that."

Sam wasn't surprised. Kindness was one of the things he'd always liked about Gwen in his past life—but he wasn't like her.

"He tried to kill me. That's reason enough for me to end him."

She wanted to argue, but the logic was unshakable. It had been self‑defense. Still, watching a once‑respected figure die in front of her left her unsettled.

"You're not wrong," she said quietly, "but… I should go."

She launched a web and swung away.

"Your mask!" Sam called after her.

She froze mid‑arc, sighed, swung back, snatched the mask from his hand, and left again without another word.

As much as she wanted to wipe the smug smile off his face, a fair fight was out of the question.

Watching her retreat, Sam found himself… content. Time travel didn't seem so bad when it let him stand here, meeting characters he'd only ever seen on a screen.

With a half‑smile, he grabbed a sparking, broken wire from the wreckage, drawing off its charge.
