Chapter 4 - Pointless

Belle turned into a Vampire, yet there is nothing I can do.

I just wish I could do something about it.

A month had passed since Belle became a Vampire. Honestly, it's been hard to come up with an excuse for her current condition.

I can't go to school without people always asking me about her, everywhere I go I'm reminded of what I was robbed of by Selpharia.

Every single day, it feels like arrows and spears are raining. Will it ever get better?

I sometimes think to myself that it'd be better if I had died back then.

I feel as if I would be at peace, but that's just a selfish delusion.

Reality is harsh; truth is harsh, I can't even do anything to help my girlfriend. I looked far and wide for a solution–heading to the library every day searching for a clue on how to turn her back into a human.

Yet there's nothing at all. Although I did technically find a method, it's damn near impossible.

It's pointless. How could I even have a chance at killing Selpharia? I'd just give away my life for a selfless reason–One without any purpose.

Thinking about it is absolutely pointless.

Whether you commit suicide or give your life away, it's all the same. You act upon emotion.. One logically makes sense and the other doesn't.

That's the truth; truth is harsh.

This is why taking my own life is hard. Too many people care for me, especially Belle, she needs me and I need her.

It's nearing the end of autumn, I look at the leaves around me.. A leaf falls onto my hand.

I crushed it.

It's quite cloudy today.. The nights have recently been getting longer too.

On the way to Belle's home, I bought her–Her so-called fantasy books.

"Fantasy" my ass.. She's not even trying to hide the fact that she reads yuri anymore! Come to think of it, she never really did hide that fact.

She's probably the only Vampire into GL in the whole world–the whole universe!

I knock on the door.

???: "Who's there?"

I reply: "It's me."

Belle's little brother; Bellamy Argent (Nicknamed Bamy by family and friends) opened the door for me.

Bamy said: "Hi Zenith, come in."

He proceeds to hand me a ball made out of clay.

I said with a perplexed look: "Thank.. you?"

He smirked and put his thumbs-up.

Satou Kazuma has truly influenced the world!

I walked in, heading upstairs, I looked at the violets on the staircase.

Beautiful, I thought.

The walls were white and purple, and a few paintings were on the walls of the second floor. One painting caught my eye, it was a painting of an anime girl.. Why does it look like the ancient painting "Mona Lisa"

???: "Oh!"

I looked to the side and saw Belle's mother, "Oh", I greeted her and asked about the painting in front of me: "Mrs Beth, who's in that painting?"

Her name is Elizabeth "Beth" Argent, she's an elementary school teacher–and one of the few who knows of Belle's condition.

Mrs Beth: "It's Manininya's predecessor, Junanyanya. Back in my days, she was the most popular character among both boys and girls."

My lips twitched into a grin, I awkwardly murmured: "Ah I see.."

Mrs Beth: "And drop the formalities. Call me Auntie." She winked.

I nod: "Alright Mrs– Auntie." and head to Belle's room.

I took a deep breath and knocked on the door.. No reply.. I knocked again.. No reply.

I barged into the room: "Answer when somebody's knocking on the door!"

Belle: "Oh.. Hello BF, I was in the middle of something."

She was in her pajamas, wearing headphones, watching (Manininya-tan: The Force against all evil)

I said: "Here's your fantasy books.. I'm heading out."

Belle: "Why so soon? BSF minus the S."

I sighed: "Do you really have to say all that? Just call me by my name."

Belle: "At your service, Master."

When did we swap roles? I didn't pay mind to it though.

I uttered: "Alright, I'm heading home–"

Belle, her hand forward, uttered: "Wait! Stay for dinner at least."

I said: "Sorry, I can't, I have something to do later."

Belle: "Since when were you such a busy man?" She cackled, "You make yourself sound like a hit man or something."

I gave her the middle finger and left–She stood up from her chair and held my wrist: "Wait! I have something to tell you."

She walked down and patted her bed, I sat right next to her. We both stare at the poster-filled wall.

She fidgeted around, blushing, looking back and forth at me.

I won't let my imagination get the best of me!

I CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE!!

These 10 seconds feel like hell! Testing my patience as a teenage boy–No! As a man.

I have to brace myself for what's to come next. There is no skip button in the real world.

Belle finally broke the 10-second silence: "TAKE ME OUT ON A DATE!! CAN'T YOU TELL THAT'S WHAT I WANT?!"

I internally started screaming, while keeping a calm demeanor externally. As I know it, life will never go Zenith Alciel's way!

I asked: "Where do you wanna go?"

Belle stared at the wall for a few seconds, it looked like she was thinking deeply.

I started biting my lips.

Belle pointed at me and cleared her throat, winking: "The Aquarium–"

I blurted: "Generic." There wasn't even an aquarium near our town in the first place.

Belle blurts: " Manininya's Theme Park!"

I blurted: "Generic." Who the hell goes to the theme park on a random Sunday night?

Belle: "The mall–"

I yet again blurted: "Generic."

Belle: "Where in the hell do you want us to go then?!"

I said: "Obviously a Cat Café–"

Belle blurted: "Generic."

I grit my teeth.

Belle pushed her glasses back, her finger on her lip: "Let's go to the Arcade."

Now we're talking.

I said: "It seems you're not my ideal girl for nothing." I put my thumbs up and smirk.

Belle sighed: "You're not Satou Kazuma."
