Chapter 1 - Chapter One: The Wedding That Wasn't

The morning sun spills golden light across the marble floors of the Moretti estate. Alessia stands before the mirror in her bridal suite, her ivory gown cascading like silk waterfalls around her. Eight years of love, loyalty, and sacrifice have led to this moment. Today, she becomes Mrs. Luca Romano. But something feels off.

The house buzzes with celebration, yet whispers trail behind closed doors. Her sister, Bianca, has been distant—oddly evasive. Luca, too, has been distracted, his kisses colder, his eyes darting elsewhere.

As Alessia walks toward the ceremony, a stray conversation catches her ear. Two maids, unaware of her presence, speak in hushed tones.

"Bianca's pregnant… and it's not just a fling. Luca's been sneaking into her room for months."

The world tilts.

Alessia's breath catches. Her heart pounds. She storms into Bianca's room—and finds them tangled in bed, naked, immersed in a kiss. Their faces betray no remorse. Only arrogance.

Luca looks up, calm and cruel.

"You were always the good girl, Alessia. But Bianca understands me."

Bianca smirks, unbothered.

"You can still be the madam of the house, sister. I'll stay the mistress. I'm willing to sacrifice. You're a good person—please accept my child."

Alessia stares at them, trembling. Her voice breaks through the silence, sharp and furious.

"Both of you are disgusting."

She feels the weight of every moment she gave up her place, her voice, her worth. The unwanted princess of the Moretti family, always obedient, always second to Bianca. The one who smiled through neglect, who sacrificed without being asked. Only Viktor, her older brother, ever stood up for her. But Viktor vanished two years ago, swallowed by the shadows of the family's secrets.

Now, no one stands between her and the abyss.

In a haze of heartbreak and rage, Alessia flees the estate, her wedding dress dragging through dirt and gravel. She runs blindly into the road, headlights blinding her vision then impact.

She fell into darkness.
