Chapter : 2 : Leaving The Village :
Many people might wonder why would he joined the fairy tail .
Wouldn't staying close to the main characters of the series bring him more danger .
After all he would be posted into dengerous situations and complex conflicts in a guild full of wizards who are trouble magnets .
Well the answer to this question is that according to him this kind of reasoning while had some weight was in the end too much over simplified .
Because most of the choices in front of him right now have advantages and disadvantages .
And it is upon him to decide which advantages he wants while keeping in mind the disadvantages when making choices .
And he feels that joining the fairy tail brings some more advantages than disadvantages .
" First of all, the very thought that if I don't join the main characters I will be safe is an over simplified optimism . "
The world of fairy tails is not your average world where you can just live normally .
Even without staying close to the fairy tail the dangers in this world are huge .
Dark guilds , arrogant Noble Lords , bandits , magical beasts , etc . are roaming around .
Just because his village is situated in a relatively safe place does not mean that everything is okay .
In fact in the past few months that he had spent over here there were multiple times when the village had to go on a defensive mode because in the nearby area a beast attack or some unfortunate event had happened .
For ordinary people facing such threats would be nothing but a disaster .
" Also we cannot forget that what was shown in the series just barely scratched the real world of fairy tail . "
This is where the real difference between the frictional world and when that world becomes the reality can be seen .
In the show that he remembered from his past life there was no mention of the village where he was staying .
And yet it is real in this world .

" So I cannot just rely on the memories of an anime / manga show to judge what is safe and what is not . "
Obviously that does not mean that the knowledge he has from the show itself was going to become useless .
On the contrary, from whatever information he has managed to gather, especially about the fairy tail guild , almost everything was identical to the one he knew from the series .
Which means that the knowledge was useful .
But he must not become totally blind to it .
That's why he cannot just think that because he did not join the main characters he would become instantly safe .
Yes it would put him in the central light more than he wants to but it would also give him other advantages .
" One of the advantages is the knowledge . "
While largely overshadowed by the raw power of its members, the fairy tail also has a library .
In fact If one were to notice and understand then fairy tail has one of the best libraries you would find among any other good guilds .
And one of the criteria for the growth and unlocking of his magic book was knowledge .
So if he had to choose a guild one of the main criteria that it must have is a strong magical library .
Not just your ordinary everyday library or even a moderately good magical book collection .
While they were also acceptable but not for a long term progress .
Obviously there were also other guilds where such good libraries present .
One of the prominent examples of that is the sabertooth guild library .
But still he would prefer the fairy tail guild library due to its long lineage and connections to perhaps few of the most talented and knowledgeable wizards in history like Mavis Vermillion , Warrod Sequen, etc .
" And obviously I cannot forget about the experience part . "
On the surface the entire fairy tail guild might look like a bunch of idiots who are over excited about everything and relying on the power of friendship .
But the other truth of the matter is that they are all experienced wizards .
While they may not be the best teachers perhaps, you cannot deny that staying with them would bring him more opportunities of learning and getting real experience on the field .
" At the same time outside these two reasons there is another factor at play . "
And that is because he simply wanted to join the fairy tail guild .
Not for knowledge, not for experience, not to gain power or spotlight attention .
But to simply be one of them .
Yes he was not one of those people who would believe in the power of friendship for everything .
On the contrary he was quite pragmatic and was certainly not a blind fool .
But despite all the dangers and differences there was still something in the fairy tail that even he could not ignore.
Something that he lacked in his previous life and something that he wanted to have .
" A sense of family and belonging . "
After coming to this world he had gained a beautiful loving family, something he did not have in his previous life .
He lived a monotonous life and were surrounded by people who really did not care about him.
Even till the last day when he passed on to this new world he could not think of a single person who he could really call his family .
So whenever he saw the fairy tail or anything similar where friends and family were kept so high , he felt a desire for it .
And now he has the opportunity .
Perhaps if it was a fan fiction then some might comment on how stupid his reasoning was .
After all, he was in a world full of danger and he was keeping things like these in his mind instead of survival .
Instead of becoming a person who would survive at all cost he was taking risks for what .
Just to have this feeling of love , family , friends , etc .
And perhaps they are right .
Perhaps he was being foolish .
But the truth of the matter is .
" This is my new life . "
" So it doesn't matter what this is . "
" I will be the one to shoulder whatever the consequences may it bring - good and bad . "
" But whatever it may be, I will not repeat the same regrets that I had in my past life . "
With that he closed his book and went to bed .
Time Skip : A Few Days Later :
" Big brother, do you have to leave ? "
" Don't worry when your big brother comes back he will bring a lot of gifts from the town. "
" Alright but make sure to visit me or I will get mad at you . "
" Okay that's a promise . "
Looking at his clinging little sister Orion couldn't help but give out a smile .
He had underestimated his sister's power when he thought that he would be able to handle her reaction .
But apparently when it was revealed to her that he would be leaving the village she gave a huge crying tantrum .
And if not for the promises of gifts from the town and his mother's interference he doubted that he would be able to leave the village .
But all of it only made his view of his little sister even better .
This is perhaps what a true family looks like .
" Orion make sure to send letters often and don't forget to eat properly . "
" Mother !! I can take care of myself, you know. "
Looking at her son she could not help but feel a profound sense of pride and a little worry in her heart.
Her worries about her son going on dangerous magical journeys and fights was something she had since she understood his dreams .
And as a mother she simply couldn't help but worry about it.
However more than worry her heart was at this moment filled with pride .
He has managed to become the first magic user in their family line and today he was going out for his journey .
So while she was worried about his safety she was also happy for her son's growth .
While she would definitely miss the boy .
But if it meant for his good then it was time for him to see the world .
On the other hand Orion was having his conversation with the villagers .
One could say that his reputation within the village was very good considering that almost the entire village left their work to come to see him off .
For the young people within the village, especially the kids, Orion at this moment was practically their idol .
Not only was this big brother of their strong , kind , polite and always treated them well .
But he was also the only magic user in the village .
For these little kids magic was not something to be associated with the raw destruction it was often used in .
To them magic meant doing unbelievable things .
In their imagination, if you were a Wizard you could fly in the sky , make cool looking fireballs and other stuff that they would read in their story books .
And this simple imagination, while often lost when growing up, was the first spark of imagination for many and countless young wizards that led them to their magical path .
" Alright, I will be going now . "
" See you soon . "
With a last look towards the village Orion finally made his way towards the nearest train station .
Time Skip : One Day Later :
" So I am close to Magnolia . "
" It feels like a dream . "
It has been one day since Orion was travelling by the train towards the Magnolia town, the home base of the fairy tail guild .
The distance from his village to this town was something that took around 4 days if he was to go by the land roads .
But fortunately the train infrastructure in the area was decent enough so he was about to reach his destination in a little more than 24 hours .
His journey so far has been quite good as well .
Meeting with some of the other passengers talking about daily life and other topics have kept him busy .
At the same time he could also take the chance to look at the beautiful scenery and enjoy some local food that was being handed out to the passengers .
Now this was something that he might not have been able to enjoy if he was a certain Dragon Slayer with motion sickness .
Fortunately his magic did not have any such drawback .
" Well after I reach the town the first thing I would need to do is to find myself a good lodging . "
The fairy tail guild was open almost everyday so he could become a member anytime he wanted to .
But before he gets caught up in the wild energy of these fairies he would need to get himself a place to stay .
" At least I have some proper funds for that . "
Before leaving the village his mother was trying to give away almost all of their savings so that he could find a good place to stay .
But he flatly refused because in an emergency situation during the winter when the crops might fail the family would need that money .
So after some discussions he decided to take the 40% of it which was the last thing that she was willing to go down to .
After that he also had some other saving and gifts from the villagers.
So while he was not striking rich he felt that he had enough to live at least for a few weeks before he can start doing missions .
Just as he was thinking about his routine for the day the announcement was made that they would be reaching the Magnolia train station soon .
In the distance Orion could already see the wall of the great town coming into view .
Feeling a rush of excitement going throughout his body Orion had a smile on his face .
" Alright let's get going . "
