Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 — The Dance of Blossoms

The afternoon sun was dipping low, casting long shadows across the quiet village road. Tang San walked beside Ayan, curiosity burning in his eyes. He still hadn't forgotten the challenge from earlier in the day — sneaking a sip of his father's wine without getting caught.

Ayan, with his usual sly grin, led the way.

"Come on, Tang San. You've earned your reward," he said, his voice low and teasing.

They left the main path, winding through narrow alleys until they reached a place neither of them had visited before. Faint music floated in the air — the sound of flutes and soft drums. It came from a small building lit with warm lanterns, their glow spilling through carved wooden windows.

Inside, laughter and music mingled. Ayan crouched low and motioned Tang San to follow. They slipped through a side gap in the wall, finding a perfect spot to peek in without being seen.

On the raised platform inside, several young women moved gracefully to the music. Their bright dresses swirled with each spin, their anklets chiming in rhythm. The air shimmered with the scent of flowers and perfume.

Tang San's eyes widened. "This… this is the reward?" he whispered.

Ayan smirked. "Better than any treasure, right? Look at the way they move — like they're casting some kind of charm."

The dancers twirled, their long hair flowing like silk ribbons. Every move was elegant, every smile a little mysterious. The crowd inside clapped along, but Ayan and Tang San stayed hidden, enjoying their secret vantage point.

For a long moment, neither spoke — they were too caught up in the sight before them. Eventually, Tang San chuckled softly.

"You're a bad influence, Ayan."

"Maybe," Ayan said with a grin, "but admit it… you're not complaining."

The music swelled, and the boys leaned a little closer, the glow of the lanterns painting their faces with golden light.
