Chapter 69 - Chapter 69 The Dragon's Lair

All the Dragons were locked in the Dragon Jail, but the cells were so small that a rope could only be tied to each Dragon's leg.

This was to prevent them from running wild and escaping.

To prevent these Dragons from noticing anything unusual about the ropes, Hiccup painted the steel wires he had prepared beforehand with brown paint, making them look no different from ordinary hemp ropes.

Although Hiccup felt he might have overestimated the intelligence of these Dragons, it was better to be cautious to ensure everything was foolproof.

Now, as the sun rose, each Dragon had regained some strength, their eyes darting around, constantly sizing up the Dragon Jail, looking for an opportunity to escape.

"Roar~!"

These Dragons began to roar furiously and then started trying to break free from the hemp ropes.

In the past, they had seen human stone nets, which were nets made of stones tied with hemp ropes, and at first, they could indeed restrict their movements.

But that was only for younger Dragons; for experienced old Dragons like them, a single breath of fire could directly break through the restraints of the hemp ropes.

They struggled twice but couldn't break free, so these Dragons began to breathe fire.

"Roar~! Roar~!"

The actions of these Dragons were remarkably similar, all protecting themselves while spewing flames at the hemp ropes.

"Roar~~~~!"

Suddenly, a Dragon excitedly flapped its wings, completely disregarding its companions, and directly rushed out of the Dragon Jail and flew into the sky.

At this moment, nothing was more important to this Dragon than freedom, so it flew towards the sky at all costs, not even daring to look back.

After Hiccup saw a Dragon ascend, he immediately ordered, "First Squad, follow! Second Squad, take off in ten minutes! Third Squad, stay and guard Berk Island!"

The reason the Dragon Knight Squad was divided was, firstly, because this was just a reconnaissance mission, and with Berk Island's current strength, even if they found the enemy's lair, they might not be able to capture them all.

Secondly, there were so many Dragons on Berk Island that needed to be guarded; if they were left to the villagers on Berk Island, perhaps by the time they returned, all these Dragons would have already turned into corpses.

Hiccup, riding Night Fury, was in the Second Squad, constantly vigilant of the surrounding situation.

At the same time, he couldn't help but think, "If only I had a walkie-talkie! That way, I could receive news immediately!"

"After I go back this time! I must adjust the plan! I can't let the system be ineffective!"

Because until now, although many magic potion formulas and uses had been analyzed, and even new combinations had been deciphered, resources were truly scarce in the Arctic Circle.

The number of potions that could be concocted was pitifully small, so changes had to be made.

He only briefly considered the idea of change in his mind before once again shifting his attention back, as they were about to face battle and he couldn't be distracted.

"Roar~!"

Night Fury suddenly let out a low growl, and the Second Squad Dragon Knights immediately stopped in mid-air.

Hiccup took out his compass and map and carefully compared them; this was indeed one of the islands where they had previously come to snatch resources, only further back.

After marking this undiscovered area on the map, Hiccup commanded, "Continue forward!"

Although they were now deep behind enemy lines, if they couldn't figure out whether the mastermind was human or Dragon, it would always feel like a sword was hanging over their heads.

After passing through an island, Hiccup discovered the First Squad's tracks; he found them hidden in the forest, not advancing.

Night Fury descended silently, and Hiccup, sitting on Night Fury's back, quietly asked, "What did you find?"

The leader of the First Squad was the chubby Fishlegs, who squinted slightly and said, "It's too far! I can only see roughly! There are at least thirty or more Dragons!"

"It seems this should be their camp, and they also have their lair! These Dragons love to sleep on rocks! Maybe there are even Dragon eggs!"

Hiccup also felt a bit helpless, and he secretly made a mental note that he must get a telescope after returning.

Now that glass had been made, making a telescope would be a piece of cake.

That's how people are; you only try to get something when you need it!

"Retreat!"

Since the situation had been discovered, the only option was to retreat, as they were outnumbered and deep behind enemy lines. They could only make plans after returning.

However, before returning, Hiccup was curious whether there were any Dragon eggs in these Dragon lairs.

So he said to Fishlegs, "I now order you all to stand by!"

"When all the Dragons start chasing me and Night Fury, you immediately go and see if there are any Dragon eggs! If you find Dragon eggs, take them all away!"

"Is that clear!?"

"Clear!" The nearby Dragon Knights responded quietly in unison.

However, Fishlegs's small, chubby hand suddenly grabbed Hiccup's shoulder and said, "Let me go with you! That way, we can look out for each other!"

"Please believe me! I guarantee that Dragon Knight Fishlegs will absolutely not hold us back!"

Looking at Fishlegs's sincere, chubby face, Hiccup smiled and said, "Your Meatlug is simply too slow; if it can keep up with my Toothless, then I'll take you on the mission!"

"Now, all of you obey orders!"

Listening to Hiccup's words, the people present showed no disappointment, only an unyielding fighting spirit.

After all, they believed that the gap between themselves and Hiccup was only the difference in Dragons, not a difference in their courage and wisdom.

Hiccup nodded heavily at them, then patted Night Fury's neck and said, "Have you heard of 'Heavenly Maidens Scattering Flowers'!?"

Night Fury adorably twisted his neck to look at Hiccup, while Hiccup took out a glass bottle containing Timberjack Dragons' saliva from his in my arms.

"Ascend!"

"Roar!"

Night Fury let out a roar, instantly attracting the attention of all the Dragons on the island, and then rushed towards these Dragons on the island at an extremely fast speed.

"Now!"

Hiccup's words had not yet fallen when he directly threw the glass bottle in his hand into the sky.

The Dragons flying towards them thought it was some kind of weapon, and one spat out a fireball, accurately hitting the glass bottle.

"Bang~!"

Sparks immediately flew in the sky, and those Dragons who couldn't dodge in time also got some flames on them, but they quickly extinguished.

Although this could not cause substantial harm to these Dragons, it was only to attract their attention; at this moment, Night Fury continuously spat out three blue-purple fireballs, completely enraging these Dragons.

Then, it quickly flew in the opposite direction.
