Chapter 17 - Chapter 16

The wedding was a grand affair, with Alessia looking stunning in her white gown. Marco, dashing in his tuxedo, smiled as he gazed at his new wife. Mr Daniel, Marco father's friend, beamed with pride as he watched the couple exchange vows.

The reception was filled with laughter, music, and fine wine. Alessia played the role of the happy bride, though she still felt a bit uncertain about her new life, and why she had not seen anyone from Marco's family. She tried to ask him but he kept changing the topic as if he didn't want her to know anything about his family.

As the night wore on, Alessia and Marco shared their first dance as husband and wife. Alessia felt a sense of unease, but Marco's charming smile put her at ease.

After the wedding, the newlyweds departed for their honeymoon, a luxurious getaway to a secluded island. Alessia was excited to spend quality time with Marco, get to know him better, and adjust to her new life.

As they settled into their villa, Alessia began to feel more comfortable. Marco was attentive, showing her the island's hidden gems. She started to see a softer side of him, beyond his assertive nature.

As the honeymoon progressed, Alessia found herself growing more comfortable with Marco. She began to see glimpses of a kind and caring person beneath the tough man he portrayed himself to be. Marco showed her the beauty of the island, took her on romantic dinners, and even surprised her with thoughtful gestures.

One evening, as they sat on the beach watching the sunset, Marco turned to Alessia and said, "I'm glad we did this. I think we'll make a good team."

Alessia smiled, feeling a sense of relief. "I think so too," she replied.

As the night wore on, Marco's phone rang, and he excused himself to take the call. Alessia watched him walk away, wondering who could be calling him at such a late hour.

When Marco returned, his expression was serious. "I'm afraid I have to attend to some business," he said. "I'll be gone for a few hours."

Alessia's curiosity was piqued. What kind of business could Marco have that required his attention at such an odd hour?

Marco's expression turned serious as he stood up. "I'll be back soon, Alessia. Try to get some rest."

Alessia nodded, feeling a bit puzzled. "Okay, be safe."

Marco leaned down and kissed her forehead. "I'll be fine. Just take care of yourself."

As Marco left, Alessia couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. She tried to distract herself by watching TV, but her mind kept wandering back to Marco's mysterious departure.

Meanwhile, Marco drove to a secluded warehouse on the outskirts of the island. He was greeted by his associates, who were waiting for him with a sense of urgency.

"Boss, we have a situation," one of them said. "One of our shipments has been compromised. We need to take care of it tonight."

Marco's expression turned cold. "Let's take care of it."

Marco returned home late at night, exhausted from his business dealings. As he entered the living room, he saw Alessia fast asleep on the couch, a book lying open on her lap. A soft smile spread across his face as he gazed at her peaceful expression.

He gently lifted her into his arms, cradling her close to his chest. Alessia stirred slightly, but didn't wake up. Marco carried her to their bedroom, laid her down on the bed, and covered her with a blanket.

After changing into comfortable clothes, Marco returned to the bed, sliding in beside Alessia. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close. Alessia snuggled into his warmth, feeling safe and protected.

As they lay there, Marco's eyes drifted shut, and he let out a soft sigh. The scent of Alessia's hair filled his senses, calming him.

In that moment, Marco felt a sense of peace he hadn't experienced in a long time. Alessia's presence seemed to soothe his rough edges, and he was grateful for her companionship.

As they slept, wrapped in each other's arms, the darkness outside seemed to fade away, replaced by the warmth and intimacy of their shared moment.
