"Ever since I could remember, I hated life, and not just because it's Hard, but because I never asked for this, and no matter how hard I try to escape, it's never far enough."
The sun is rising over a small town in the north, illuminating anything it sees.
In a medium-sized house, a family of four lived: a married couple and their two children, a 14-year-old son and a 7-year-old daughter.
"Kukyo, Ellina, Breakfast is ready!" Eline shouted
The two ran down the stairs from their bedrooms, reaching the kitchen with a smile on their face.
"Thank you for the food, Mom." The two said.
"Oh boy, you two need to calm down before you choke," said Zel
"Good morning, Dad," said Kyuko
"Good morning, young V, Ellina."
"Dad, why do you always call me V?"
"It's Roman, dear, your father's favourite number is shaped like a V," said Ellina
"Now come on, honey, I like seeing him angry for no reason. He always makes the best expressions just like you," said Zel
"Well, you always make stupid faces, Dad… but they're always funny," said a smiling Kukyo
"I'm heading out for school, so later, and I'm looking forward to finishing that video game with you, Dad, and eating Mom's great cooking, and hearing Elly's great stories."
Sitting on the school bus, Kukyo plays music on his headset and closes his eyes as the bus heads to his school. Suddenly, a voice pops up in his head, blocking out the music.
"You who seek darkness"
"You who were born in despair"
"You who cling to a light that could only cast you yet never be with you"
"I give to you three gifts: 1. Knowledge/language, 2. A guide and 3. A heart"
What was that? Who was that?
As Kukyo opened his eyes, he realised that he was no longer on the bus but was sitting on the side of a building. As he stood up and started to look around, he saw buildings and machines resembling a mixture of the steam era and the medieval era.
"What the hell is going on?"
Where am I?
[Watch out !]
What the… who was that, in my head?
"Hey, kid, move out of the way!" shouted a man driving a carriage
Kukyo quickly ran out of the way, with a panicked expression, and then leaned back on the same building he was on before.
Holding his chest tightly as his heart raced thought he was dreaming and struck the wall as hard as he could to stimulate pain to wake up, but it didn't work as he groveled in pain.
No, this can't be, it has to be a dream.. No, please wake up, wake up, wake up, WAKE UP
As Kukyo lay on the ground panicking, crying, and groveling in pain, he tried to calm his breath as he thought to himself, if there was a way to come to this place, there must be a way back… as he listened to his thought, he suddenly began to calm down.
"Now all I have to do is find that way."
