Miranda spent the morning anchored to her desk, mindful of Nolan locked away in a series of back-to-back meetings. Her body still carried the sweet ache from yesterday's events, though the hot shower and Nolan's expert massage had eased much of her discomfort. She glanced at her phone several times, debating the right moment to call her sisters.
Deciding lunch would be best, she opened their group chat:
Miranda: Need to talk during lunch. Something happened yesterday. Want to tell you myself before rumors reach you.
Noelle's response was immediate.
Noelle: You can't drop that bomb and expect me to wait patiently. I'm already having heart palpitations.
Collins: If this is about Nolan being an ass, I swear I'll drive there right now.
Miranda's lips curved into a reluctant smile as she typed back.
Miranda: Not about Nolan. I'll call at noon, okay?
Collins's curt "Fine" spoke volumes about her frustration, while Noelle admitted her imagination was running wild.
