Chapter 7 - Playing Cupid

Reina Reigns

"I see Father did not lie. He invited the poltergeist," I frown, walking past Cesaro, who was the one to open the door for me after my fifth time ringing the doorbell. I was in no mood for his impoliteness. That and I had not one damn clue what a 'poltergeist' is.

My mood wasn't only ruined by his presence but also because I went to the hotel to collect a bonus check from Mister Mirza when I heard Mikayla telling someone how Cesaro found out what a cheater his bitch had been. His misery would only be good if I was the one to break the news to him.

A smirk graces my features as I continue walking. Though his main course was served, that certainly didn't mean I couldn't provide him with dessert, and definitely not the kind he'd like.

I continue to walk forward as if it wasn't my first time visiting the home of Mister Mirza, trying my best to get away from his son that I know was walking behind me.

Cesaro Mizra

I would never admit it to her, but that night when she bumped into me, I couldn't believe that she was the same woman who had stormed into my office days ago. That day she looked like a ragged doll, but that night I was unable to control my eyes. I admire the way her revealing dress fit her perfectly. It hugged her in the right places, and she didn't lack anything in the places that count. I wasn't a fan of women who had tattoos, but I couldn't help liking the one on her thigh and the words that went down her spine, 'stronger than yesterday,' which leaves me intrigued.

Today was no different; she looked luscious in her silky silver skin-tight dress. This dress once again exposes her back, and this time I notice that she has red markings tattooed to her left side, but in order to read what is written, I would have to move closer to her.

I wonder what else was written on her skin.

I came to an abrupt stop the moment Father walked out from the living room. He gave me the look he usually would when I was caught doing something sneaky as a child. I felt nothing but irritation, not only because I was caught but also because I was practically undressing the woman I told to crawl back to her hole. That too after recently breaking things off with Lydia.

Ignoring Father I walk past them, entering the living area.

Reina Reigns

"I'm glad you could make it, dear, and you're just in time," Mister Mirza says, giving me a handshake.

I handed him a bottle of expensive wine Drew and Gemma had gifted me on my first day of work. "Thanks again, sir, for inviting me."

We entered a large living room where several people sat talking among themselves while drinking from pristine wine glasses.

Mister Mirza introduces me as someone who is the closest person he has to a daughter. I smile up at the man, feeling for the first time as if I actually belong, especially with the few people who were no doubt from high-class society smiling genuinely at me. For a moment I wondered if they had been fake ones they practiced every day until it seemed like the real deal.

"I love your dress," a young woman says as she approaches me the moment Mister Mirza excused himself to see if everything was going well in the kitchen.

"Thank you," I reply, not interested in starting a conversation with this woman.

She gives me the other wine glass she held. "It must have been expensive; it looks like it was made for your body, exquisite."

"Hmm," was all I could say. If only she knew that I had gotten it on sale as a twentieth birthday gift and it took two whole years before I could fit into it.

"I'm Priyanka Kumar. I'm the marketing manager for SVH." I couldn't help but try and figure out Priyanka's age. The fact that she looked no older than twenty-four and had such a title was quite impressive.

I did not know what to say, and thanks to Mister Mirza, who showed up at that precise moment.

"I'm sorry to interrupt your conversation, ladies." Priyanka, who was now busy blushing at the mere sight of the man standing next to Mister Mirza, did not reply.

"That's alright," I say while glancing at Cesaro's grim look while he refuses to look at Priyanka and myself.

"My son here has something he wants to tell you, Reina. He felt it was best to say it somewhere more private. He places a hand on Cesaro's shoulder, who grunts at his father's words. I didn't miss the way he cringed slightly when Mister Mirza squeezed his shoulder.

I was completely aware of what was happening. "Oh, does he now?" I smile, feeling mischievous. Mister M was playing matchmaker, but he was doing it with the wrong woman.

"Why don't you two go by one of the rooms where it is less crowded? Don't be long now; dinner is in five. Come on, Priyanka," Khan says while taking her arm and leading her away from us.

"See you later, Cesaro," she says and in return gains a firm nod.

I chuckle as I watch Cesaro glare at the back of his father's head. This gains his attention; I look at him from head to toe. Everything screamed perfection, from his cute messy hair to his Italian footwear and even the handmade bracelets that don't seem to come off. I admit that he is quite a sight for sore eyes, but his personality was crap, which was a complete turn-off. If it hadn't been, then his father's little matchmakinggame might have just worked.

"What are you staring at, Reigns?"

"Nothing. I was just trying to figure out what Priyanka sees in you." I change my tone to the sweetest one I could muster. "Want to know what I see in you?"

Instead of meeting my heated glare, he focuses on fixing the top button on his shirt. "I have a feeling you are going to tell me either way."

I raised a brow. "Smartest thing I ever heard you say. Absolutely nothing; your personality is really unattractive and dull."

Cesaro nods; for some reason he seems amused. "And you think your own is any better?"

"Of course not. I'm like a rose with deadly thorns." I give him a sweet smile before walking past him, never forgetting to bump into him while passing by.

I could tell he was following me, and I had a feeling it was because of Priyanka, who kept glancing at us.

"You don't have to follow behind me like a lost puppy, Mirza."

"I believe you're the lost puppy, Reigns; you don't even know where you're going."

"Don't have to. My feet will lead me to where I want to go; hopefully it's somewhere far from you."

"Bitch," he muttered, but it was obviously loud enough for my ears.

"And you better remember it, pumpkin," I say as I continue to walk ahead as if I owned the place. Abruptly I came to a stop in front of an open glass door, resulting in Cesaro releasing a few curse words when he accidentally bumped into me. "You have a very dirty mouth, Mizra."

There is a small walkway that leads to the modern-looking courtyard with a pool centered in the middle and fairy lights hanging from the trees. Across from there, I could see through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows different sections of the house.

"This place just got a whole lot better. Do you think your father would mind if I take a swim?" I took a few steps outside, and Cesaro followed.

"He invited you for dinner, which he said would be in five minutes, less now since you decided to wander around, so what do you think?"

I turn to look at Cesaro. "Calm down, sugar, I didn't exactly bring a swimsuit, and I'd save you from a heart attack by not going nude."

Cesaro swallows and pushes his hands in his pant pockets. "Don't get too confident now, Reigns. I wouldn't even blink an eye if you were standing in front of me naked."

I chuckle and take a few steps closer to him so that we are toe-to-toe; I tilt my head to the side and stare up at him. Cesaro refused to make eye contact, which made my smirk grow. I place two fingers on his chest, pausing briefly when he inhales suddenly, resuming as I walk them towards his neck, "Yeah, I bet you wouldn't blink an eye because if you do, you'd miss out on seeing just about every inch of what I have to offer."

Cesaro gripped my hand before I had the chance to run my fingers through the hair on the back of his head.

He stared into my eyes. "Don't flatter yourself, sugar. I'd rather be blind than to see you get naked, and that's saying something."

He dropped my hand in a harsh manner and stormed away from me.

"That can be arranged, you trifling bastard!" I yell, holding onto my hand that he seemed to have squeezed the life from. After he disappeared around the corner, I looked down at my hand that now had red marks.

I guess that's what I get for teasing the beast, but I will get him next time.
