While Xu Jiujing was absorbing the trunk bone of the Heavenly Star Vine, Jiang Nannan also completed the absorption of her sixth soul ring.
The girl stood up with a radiant smile, clearly very satisfied with the soul skill she had acquired through the sixth ring.
"Nannan, how was it?" Zhu Ziyang walked up to her and asked.
"Hehe, it's great!" Jiang Nannan giggled. "My soul power directly rose to Rank 62, and I'm really happy with the sixth soul skill!"
"Tell us about it," Zhu Ziyang said.
Jiang Nannan's sixth soul skill was called Silver Moon Aurora Shift. Upon release, she would temporarily enter a state where she became immune to all control effects and could not be targeted. This lasted for one second, after which all her attributes would receive a major boost, and her speed would triple.
For an agility-type soul master, this was an incredibly valuable skill.
"Jiujing hasn't finished yet?" Jiang Nannan asked curiously after explaining her soul skill, glancing toward Xu Jiujing.
"She already finished absorbing her soul ring. She's currently fusing with the soul bone," Zhu Ziyang explained.
"Soul bone?" Jiang Nannan blinked in surprise, then said, "She's really lucky!"
"Indeed," Zhu Ziyang nodded in agreement.
Soon after, Xu Jiujing also completed the soul bone absorption. Her soul power had risen to Rank 63. Since it was a trunk bone, her body underwent slight changes—she grew a little taller, and her figure became even more shapely and alluring.
With both Jiang Nannan and Xu Jiujing having obtained their soul rings, the team pressed on, this time to find a suitable soul beast for Xu Sanshi.
They didn't have to wait long. During a brief rest, a thirteen-thousand-year-old Armored Demon Rhinoceros charged directly into their resting area. It was dealt with efficiently and became Xu Sanshi's fifth soul ring.
Thus, the four-day soul beast hunt concluded successfully. The group did not linger in the Star Dou Forest and returned straight to the academy.
After three days of short recovery, the "Empress Descends" plan was officially initiated.
At the Tianyuan Plaza of the Inner Court, the execution team for the Empress Plan assembled. The team was led by Zhang Lexuan, with Elder Song and Elder Zhu as her advisors. The team included Jiang Nannan, Wu Ming, and five other core disciples of the Inner Court.
"Everyone's here," Zhang Lexuan said seriously as she looked at the seven junior disciples in front of her. Behind her stood Elder Song and an older woman who looked slightly younger than her. She was Elder Zhu, a veteran elder of the Tianyuan Pavilion, a Rank 95 Super Douluo specializing in power-type combat. Her martial soul was the Moon Devouring Wolf, a powerful beast-type martial soul whose strength doubled under moonlight. She paired well with Zhang Lexuan.
"Sister Lexuan, my brother said to wait for him. He's coming with us," Jiang Nannan said. She was the only one among them who knew the full plan and had volunteered to join. Her reasoning was that she could perform a martial soul fusion skill with Zhang Lexuan, greatly boosting her power and foundation.
It was a flawless reason. Neither Zhu Ziyang nor the Tianyuan Pavilion elders had any grounds to refuse.
"Ziyang is coming too?" Zhang Lexuan and the two elders were surprised. "What's he coming for?"
"To personally assess the plan's feasibility, of course!" Zhu Ziyang arrived with a smile. "But I'm only going to observe. Once we arrive at the Moon South Archipelago, I'll return."
"Very well," Zhang Lexuan and Elder Song nodded. "Let's depart!"
The group left Shrek Academy and traveled south, first arriving at the coastal city of Nanya City in the southern Star Luo Empire. From there, they boarded a ship heading for the Moon South Archipelago of the Sun Moon Empire.
After seven days, they arrived at the easternmost island of the Moon South Archipelago—Seventh Moon Island.
The Moon South Archipelago was under the jurisdiction of the Sun Moon Empire's Moon South Province. It was composed of seven independent islands of varying sizes and located at the empire's far eastern edge. It was one of only two semi-autonomous regions within the Sun Moon Empire and the hereditary land of the Silver Moon Priest Yin Clan.
The Silver Moon Priest Yin Clan was the ancestral family of the Silver Moon Empress, one of the oldest families on the Sun Moon Continent. Long ago, they had supported the founding of the empire alongside the Golden Sun Yang Clan, assisting the Purple Radiance Emperor. Afterward, the Yin and Yang clans merged into the imperial family's Moon and Sun lines. However, not all members were absorbed into the royal bloodline. Some branches remained. Zhu Ziyang wasn't sure about the Yang Clan's remnants, but the Yin Clan's survivors lived on the Moon South Archipelago as the Silver Moon Priest Yin Clan.
A hundred and fifty years ago, after the Moon Devouring Palace Coup, the Yin Clan suffered suppression due to their close ties to the Moon Lineage. However, because the Moon South Archipelago was remote and the Yin Clan's numbers were sparse, the new emperor, Xu Yitian, died of sudden illness before he could purge them. Subsequent emperors were too preoccupied with power struggles to deal with the distant clan.
Thus, while the Yin Clan was affected by the coup, they also weren't. Over the next century, they repeatedly sheltered descendants of the imperial Moon Lineage. Today, the Moon South Archipelago remained the only force within the Sun Moon Empire that openly harbored Moon Lineage descendants, having protected over ten of them.
Zhu Ziyang's goal was to establish contact with the Yin Clan and help Zhang Lexuan inherit the legacy of the Moon Lineage.
Fourth Moon Island was the largest in the Moon South Archipelago, home to the most residents and strongest force. It served as the Yin Clan's stronghold. The island's governor was also the Marquis of the Moon South Archipelago—Yin Zhengqi.
"Sister Lexuan, Elder Song, let's head directly to the marquis estate," Zhu Ziyang said. "Elder Zhu, please take Nannan and the others to gather information about the Moon Lineage survivors. We'll meet at the hotel afterward."
After docking at Fourth Moon Island, they checked into the largest hotel before splitting up.
"Alright," Elder Zhu nodded and left with the seven disciples.
"Ziyang, do we really need to go straight to the marquis estate?" Zhang Lexuan asked with some hesitation. "Shouldn't we discuss things first?"
"Sister Lexuan, you need to have more confidence in your identity," Zhu Ziyang said with a helpless smile, not expecting her to waver at this point. "Your martial soul is the purest Moon Martial Soul. If we were dealing with the royal Moon Lineage, they might hesitate. But we're seeing the Silver Moon Priest Yin Clan—they won't doubt it."
"Alright," Zhang Lexuan set aside her doubts and nodded in agreement.
Zhu Ziyang, Zhang Lexuan, and Elder Song left the hotel and headed for the marquis estate.
The estate was easy to find—it was the largest and most resplendent building on the island. A few questions were enough to lead them to it.
"Doesn't look like the Yin Clan is suffering as badly as we imagined," Elder Song said, looking at the grand, golden estate.
"Just because they live well doesn't mean they're doing well," Zhu Ziyang replied with a smile. He stepped forward and knocked on the red door.
"Who is it?" A servant peeked through a small opening in the door, startled to see the three of them. "Do you have an appointment? The island lord's time is very valuable."
"Ha! Appointment?" Zhu Ziyang laughed lightly with disdain. "Does a Titled Douluo need an appointment to see your island lord?"
"Titled Douluo?" The servant blinked, then looked at the three of them, his gaze settling on Elder Song. He forced a smile. "If you truly are a Titled Douluo, then no appointment is needed. But can the elder perhaps demonstrate it? I just need to confirm before letting you in. If I let you in without proof and the island lord blames me, I'll be finished!"
"Don't make things hard for him," Elder Song said indifferently, releasing a faint trace of her Titled Douluo pressure.
The servant couldn't truly sense the pressure but immediately felt his body grow heavy. The real target of Elder Song's pressure wasn't him, but Yin Zhengqi, the Marquis of the Moon South Archipelago and a Soul Douluo, who would definitely sense it.
Sure enough, just three seconds later, a voice rang out:
"Which esteemed senior has arrived? Yin Zhengqi apologizes for not greeting you in advance!" A scholarly and refined man with a slightly feminine air rushed out of the estate and appeared before the three of them.
This man was none other than Yin Zhengqi, head of the Yin Clan and Marquis of the Moon South Archipelago.
His gaze immediately locked on Elder Song. Though puzzled, his expression was full of respect. Even though he didn't recognize Elder Song, he knew enough to show the appropriate reverence toward a Titled Douluo.
He said, "Might I ask senior's name and purpose in coming? I, Yin Zhengqi, will do all I can to assist."
"Haha! So the marquis plans to converse with me without even offering tea?" Elder Song chuckled.
"Yes, yes! That was my mistake. Please, senior, and you two young friends, come inside!" Yin Zhengqi quickly smiled and stepped aside.
Elder Song, without the slightest politeness, led Zhu Ziyang and Zhang Lexuan into the estate, leaving Yin Zhengqi trailing behind. Her arrogant manner seemed completely natural—after all, this was precisely how a Titled Douluo should act toward ordinary soul masters.
