The night was deep and dark.
On Sea God Island, inside Zhu Ziyang's dormitory, he sat cross-legged on his bed, eyes half-closed, his expression calm and natural—clearly in a state of meditation. The room was completely still, so quiet that even the sound of breathing and heartbeat could be heard.
A strange, divine energy rippled through the air. Zhu Ziyang's body suddenly trembled slightly, then returned to normal, as if nothing had changed.
But in reality, Zhu Ziyang's soul had already been pulled into a mysterious and unique space.
"Where is this?" Zhu Ziyang opened his eyes, filled with suspicion, cautiousness, and a trace of fear. He recalled that while cultivating, he suddenly heard a soft "ding" sound, and upon opening his eyes, he found his soul already in this place.
After a brief moment of panic and unease, a realization dawned on him. His heart calmed as he started to observe the unfamiliar space. Looking around, all he could see was endless grey-white mist. The fog blocked his spiritual senses and dulled his five senses. Only a radius of less than a meter around his body could be perceived clearly.
This feeling was both familiar and strange to him. The reason became more apparent as excitement and anticipation began to swell in his heart. As expected, when he found himself at a loss, a cold voice suddenly echoed in his ears.
"Walk forward."
Upon hearing the voice, Zhu Ziyang's face lit up with a faint smile. It was the voice of the mysterious god who had once spoken to him.
He didn't hesitate and stepped forward into the mist, following the direction of the voice. The moment he entered, his soul became unbearably heavy, his steps faltering. Yet in the next instant, he felt as light as air, almost as if he could float. This shifting weight left his soul in a dazed, disoriented state.
Still, he instinctively followed the guidance of the voice. When he regained clarity, his soul felt utterly clear—like it had undergone a baptism by heaven and earth, returning to its purest form.
Opening his eyes, Zhu Ziyang no longer saw grey mist but instead found himself standing before an ancient, magnificent palace. The palace seemed to touch the skies and sink to the depths—it stood at the heart of the mysterious realm, its boundaries between illusion and reality indistinct.
At his feet lay a staircase that led to the grand hall. There were a hundred steps, but only the first one was clearly visible—its surface inscribed with symbols that seemed to sing, symbolizing the River of the Underworld and the distant shore.
Flanking the staircase were eighteen towering stone pillars, nine on each side, arranged with precise symmetry. Every ten steps stood two pillars. These pillars emitted a divine aura, their surfaces etched with the laws of heaven and earth, though Zhu Ziyang could not discern them clearly.
Shocked and elated, his thoughts confirmed what his eyes saw—this place was the inheritance site of a god!
"Welcome to—"
"Impudent Evil God! How dare you act so brazenly!" a thunderous, majestic voice suddenly descended from the heavens, filled with righteous might and fury.
"Tang San, you're the one being reckless!" another voice roared in reply, brimming with both anger and sorrow.
The clash of divine voices made Zhu Ziyang's soul tremble violently. He stood frozen, unsure of what to do.
——
Back in the mortal world, the moment Zhu Ziyang was drawn into the god's inheritance realm, a beam of greyish-white light infused with divine purity shot up from Sea God Island, piercing the vast night sky. It was a sight no one could perceive—not even Mu En. Across the entire continent, only a dragon's unwilling roar echoed from the depths of a lake in the Star Dou Forest.
That beam of light traveled beyond the clouds, piercing into the unfathomable realm beyond the heavens.
——
In the Divine Realm, inside the Divine Committee, three male gods sat at a round table, discussing divine affairs.
Suddenly, both the blue-haired god and the short red-haired god froze mid-action. Their expressions shifted at once. The blue-haired god's face showed fury and suspicion, like a cat caught by the tail or someone who'd had their cake stolen—he was clearly enraged. The red-haired god's expression was more restrained, but shock, doubt, and excitement still flickered in his eyes.
"This meeting is over!" the blue-haired god said coldly, standing up abruptly before disappearing from the room in a flash.
The red-haired god also rose without hesitation and vanished soon after.
Left alone, the black-haired god looked utterly confused, unsure of what had just happened. But he sensed a brewing storm and sighed helplessly.
"Sigh… truly a time of chaos."
The red-haired god reappeared outside a vibrant, life-filled palace. Just as he was about to enter, a green-haired goddess rushed out from within. Her face was a complex mix of excitement, joy, sorrow—and faint tear stains could still be seen on her cheeks. Upon seeing the red-haired god, she cried out emotionally:
"Xiao Zi, did you feel it? Did you feel it? It's him! It's really him!"
"I did, I did!" the red-haired god hugged her, trying to calm her down. With sorrow in his voice, he said, "It must be him. He's really fallen."
"Wuuu… Xiao Zi, do you think we'll ever get to see him again?" the green-haired goddess sobbed.
"..." The red-haired god was silent for a moment before replying, "It's unlikely. What we sensed just now was probably his divine position. If that's all that remains, then he's only left behind a strand of divine consciousness. He must've found a successor—otherwise he wouldn't have initiated the inheritance."
"Then we must protect his successor!" the Goddess of Life said firmly through her tears. "We must ensure they're not disturbed!"
"Exactly!" The red-haired god agreed. But a cloud of concern darkened his heart. Recalling the blue-haired god who left in a rage, he muttered, "We have to hurry!"
The two gods vanished at once.
—
Meanwhile, back in his own divine palace, the furious blue-haired god—none other than the Sea God Tang San—gritted his teeth and cursed.
"I want to see which blind fool dares to act so wildly in my territory!"
With a wave of his hand, he tore open a spatial rift, his gaze piercing toward the mysterious divine space. There, he spotted the holy palace unknown to him. Without hesitation, he reached out his hand to grasp it, roaring:
"Impudent Evil God! How dare you act so brazenly!"
But the sacred hall lit up with divine radiance, resisting his descending palm. His effort, however, was cut short. A green beam of divine light shot through the void and struck Tang San's palm, accompanied by a furious feminine voice:
"Tang San, you're the one who's overstepping!"
Interrupted by the attack, Tang San withdrew his hand and closed the spatial rift. His face darkened, filled with resentment and fury.
'Damn it! Without knowing that god's identity or the inheritor's background, I can't act directly! If only I had found out earlier, I could've sent Da Ming and Er Ming to intervene!'
Tang San's heart boiled with regret. 'Why did the Goddess of Life suddenly appear? Could it be the work of the God of Destruction? Could that mysterious god be connected to him?'
'Curse my lack of understanding about the ancient divine histories. If only I knew more—I might have recognized that unknown god's identity!'
Tang San could only stew in helpless anger. He stormed into his bedroom and vented his fury on his stunned and confused wife. Afterward, not even bothering to comfort her, he activated his hidden agents on the Douluo Continent, instructing them to watch for any rising talents—and eliminate them if possible.
"Damn it! Why now of all times?" Tang San growled. "Just when my plan is reaching its critical phase, that god shows up… Is this retribution? Hmph! Child of destiny, Huo Yuhao, you'd better grow up fast! I've sacrificed too much for you!"
—
Elsewhere in the Divine Realm, the Goddess of Life retracted her palm, her face a mix of anger and lingering fear. Beside her, the God of Destruction mirrored her concern. These two were exactly the ones mentioned by Tang San—Life and Destruction.
"Tang San actually dared to do it," the Goddess of Life said furiously.
"Hmph, it was only to be expected," the God of Destruction replied coldly. "Without the Rakshasa God, does he really think the position of the Asura God is so easy to wield?"
"Now we can only hope that his successor lives up to the legacy," the Goddess of Life said, full of both anticipation and helplessness.
Today is definitely not a good day to draw cards…
