Chapter 4 - Chapter Four: Captured

City streets dim, shadows stretch long.

Mia moves cautiously, steps light but hurried.

She weaves through alleys, thinks she's alone.

But she isn't.

A figure follows silently, face hidden by mask.

He blends into night like a ghost.

His cold eyes watch Mia's every move.

Patiently waiting for the perfect moment.

Mia feels a prickling on neck.

She glances back — empty streets stare.

The masked man smiles cruelly.

The hunt will soon end.

---

Night deepens. Mia curls behind building.

Cold bites skin; exhaustion weighs heavier.

She pulls coat tight, eyes flutter closed.

Desperate for rest in cruel world.

Unseen, masked man waits nearby.

He watches as Mia sleeps.

Anticipation flickers in his gaze.

City holds its breath — waiting.

---

Sleep claims her, senses snap awake.

Sharp metallic scent drifts through air.

Something is deeply wrong.

Her eyes fly open, heart pounds.

She forces calm, hides trembling.

Someone watches, waits nearby.

She swallows hard, stays invisible.

Shadow remains still, eyes cold.

Mia trembles, but resists prey role.

---

Mia rises, face calm, hiding storm.

Masked man watches, confident.

Mia isn't easy prey.

Suddenly, she bolts — darkness swallows her.

Spy lunges, but misses footsteps.

She weaves through alleys, fades away.

Frustrated, masked man scans empty space.

Mia slips through fingers — for now.

---

Operation: Hunt Her Down

Masked man curses, voice swallowed by night.

Catch her tonight, or die before sunrise.

Eyes dart nervously.

Girl slipped away — quick, quiet, unpredictable.

He taps cellphone urgently.

"She's in the hood. Scatter. Hunt her."

Static crackles, voices confirm orders.

Grip tightens, scanning streets.

Failure isn't an option.

Luca waits with wrath.

Hunt is on.

---

Luca's teams move silently, like predators.

They fan alleys, climb fire escapes.

Sweep abandoned buildings with focus.

Radios whisper commands softly.

Chase tightens.

No one loses sight.

City holds breath.

Tense silence wraps night.

---

Mia pressed against cold brick wall.

Breath shallow in chilly night.

Distant footsteps, radio crackle made heart race.

Threadbare coat barely kept out cold.

Fear burned hotter inside her.

City felt like a cage.

Shadows were both friend and enemy.

She knew they were close.

Invisible eyes deadly and watching.

Instinct screamed to run.

She stayed silent, melted into darkness.

Footsteps faded, she slid away carefully.

Legs aching, cold biting through clothes.

Stayed low, avoided pools of light.

Darted between buildings like shadow.

Her eyes found fire escape ladder.

Faint in the dark.

Climbed quickly, each rung lifeline.

Searchers' flashlights flickered below.

Slicing through the darkness.

Hugged knees, tried to calm trembling.

Heart pounding with every shout.

Then a harsh voice shattered quiet:

"She's here! Check the fire escape!"

Heart froze.

Scrambled onto rooftop without hesitation.

Footsteps climbed behind her.

Cold wind whipped her hair.

Sprinted across uneven tiles.

Every step a gamble.

Leapt into alley's darkness.

Vanished once more.

Hunt far from over.

---

Searchers poured onto rooftop.

Boots clattered loudly.

"Split up! She can't have gone far!"

They fanned out, called name.

Scanned every corner with focus.

Mia pressed against cold wall.

Breath caught tight, heartbeat loud.

Voices echoed like tightening noose.

She wasn't safe yet.

---

---

Mia's pulse thundered in ears.

Pressed against cold brick wall.

Searchers' flashlights sliced shadows sharply.

Her legs trembled, but moved.

Slow at first, then bolted.

Darted into narrow alley swiftly.

Weaved between crates and trash.

Rot stung her nose sharply.

Shouts erupted behind her.

She slipped away silently.

Heart pounding, she spotted ladder.

Rusted fire escape nearby.

Lunged, pulled up trembling.

Metal groaned but held.

From rooftop, she looked down.

Searchers swarmed like angry bees.

Curses filled cold night air.

Breathing hard, wiped sweat.

For now, she was free.

Freedom fragile, night far.

---

City fell silent finally.

Footsteps faded into night.

Chest rose, fell heavily.

She waited, searchers gave up.

Slowly climbed down rooftop.

Cautious but hopeful steps.

Cold air brushed face.

Landed softly on pavement.

Eyes scanned for hiding.

Deeper, safer place needed.

Suddenly, a hand grabbed.

Clamped tightly over mouth.

Eyes widened in shock.

Panic surged in struggle.

Masked figure emerged silently.

Cold, inescapable presence behind.

"Going somewhere?" whispered low.

Voice dark and menacing.

Mia's heart plummeted.

Nightmare had begun.

---

She twisted fiercely, tears.

"What do you want?" gasped.

"Why are you doing this?"

Masked man smirked cruelly.

"I'm not the one," said softly.

"But trust me, danger grows."

Footsteps echoed in alleys.

Rough men appeared silently.

Faces shadowed, intentions clear.

"You caught her," growled one.

"She's a great runner," frustrated.

Mia trembled, fear suffocating.

Her nightmare just began.

---

Before she reacted,

Sharp blow hit head.

Stars exploded behind eyes.

World spun wildly.

Knees buckled suddenly.

Darkness swallowed whole.

Rough hands grabbed limp body.

Van door slammed shut.

Dragged inside cold van.

Engine rumbled low.

City lights faded fast.

Fate was sealed.

Hope flickered deep inside.
